The hate doesn't start with celebrities views, it starts with the actual con-men, corporate gangsters and tricksters in government, big business and related positions of power. Celebrities and other people's views on things are completely secondary and a product of the initial campaigns of propaganda and misinformation.

I am 66, and I have never seen such division in my country. I appreciate your thoughts on the state of our union. I am afraid that a truth commission's finding would not be accepted by many who prefer to blindly follow a certain leader, such as many in third world countries do. It is rather frightening to be an American today.

As John Lennon once sang... "War is over IF YOU WANT IT". I've also read that the quickest way to end a war is to lose it... Can we expect people to accept the idea of "losing" in a country where "loser" is like the supreme insult ? Even for the sake of Truth (and Peace)... It would demand a serious amount of self-awareness and TIME for anyone to do this kind of thing. I know I would have a hard time, and I'm not even a stubborn person, on the contrary. Unfortunately we live in a society that strengthens our egos... So I'm not surprised that America's more divided than ever. As to Brian May's idea... I think such a commission would need to gain its respect and credibility directly from the people. But yeah, we'd obviously need this kind of things... And not just in the U.S. We need common goals. Anything that helps to focus our attentions on common points, and not on sources of conflict, is always good.

"The truth shall set you free" -- Jesus "What is truth?" -- "jesting" Pilate -- as set forth in the "Gospel truth" of the Gospel According to John, in the New Testament or Christian Bible. A formative book in European culture, and extended into the formation of US American culture (which, history has shown, has tended to disregard most non-European cultural influences, even while absorbing them). "What is truth" tends to give way to what is convenient, what do I want, what can I get, and what will punish anyone I disagree with. Human nature wants what it wants ("-- and I want it now!" Smart lady, Anita!) Isn't the job of religious and educational systems - not to mention parenting! - to counter natural human greed and selfishness, with a sense of a higher, community good ? - whose desirability is seen as a truth? People have the option to keep their childish greed and selfishness as their preferred "truth" and live accordingly. They may even be admired for how much they get away with it- especially by people who didn't get away with it. The biblical (and other) truth of self-giving to the point of self -sacrifice (if needed: by "losers and suckers" like our grandparents), for the greater good of the community -- is easily submerged by denial and egotism, and the worship of wealth : : isn't it an obvious truth that if a person is rich, they must be right? (And happy, free of doubt or depression or conflict?) A perfect spouse and parent? Impervious to Covid ? Obviously fit to lead our nation -we are just little people? People become scientists because they want to find truth that underlies what is obvious or presented on a surface. A scientist keeps looking for what lies beneath. What is the cause of a cough, or an eclipse, or glaciers retreating, or a giant squid washed up on a beach? And mystics seek the truth behind received wisdom: what is truth, or freedom, or death or life? What do I learn, by fasting or going without sleep? Or by sitting in silence? How do we separate truth from delusion ? When delusion can feel so right!-- and incidentally annoy our enemies! Whose interpretation is correct? "Surrender your ego, be free! Be free!" Ego blocks truth -- a big, self promoting egotist is bound to be a liar! Check history..... 🤔 Luv ya Bri! Happy 2021 anyway....

Brian through this horrific year my mom and i listen to Queen music and watch the concerts . It is the one thing that always brings our mood from stressed to happy. I wanna thank you for all your wonderful music. Bohemian Rhapsody movie grabbed so many people's hearts and hit a younger crowd who glorifies the music of Queen. On the political side I feel no one should be able to take away your freedom to say who they voted for and why. These political views have divided a nation. Everyone is just ripping each other apart. With that being said i put God in control of whatever is going to be. You are an amazing man and thank you for always lifting our spirits with your music that will live on from each generation to the next . I know you are a busy man and might not see this but my channel has many Queen videos to honor my favorite band in the world Queen. Kinda makes me wonder if WARS aren't just as profitable a MARKET SHARE for CELEBRITIES as they are for PRESIDENTS and the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEXES that OWN THEM? )-

When I was in college I got into a shouting match with a College Professor when I realized we were selling major financial institutions and tons of US real estate to China. I mean it GOT BAD LoL. But I KNEW I was right. Now look at where things are. China has destroyed the REAL ESTATE market in Vancouver. Youve got doctors and lawyers living in apartments because the avg price of a home is over a million dollars. Chinese officials bought up houses and then did not move in them. they knew exactly what they were doing and the government let them. Trump was on the right track when he got into office. He needed to work with Hong Kong and Taiwan to make them more POWERFUL and free them from China's ball and chain. The key to securing North Korea is the destruction of the Communist Regime in China. The people HATE their government but are terrified of them.

It seems to me, one older grandma lady in small town midwestern America, that there is no longer a fixed measure for what is good and what is evil. I hate to mix religion and politics but I put this forward for consideration. For many generations people were raised with their eyes close to home and their moral standards came from the book that you considered to be the word of God. An omnipotent being who knew the right way to think about who you were and how you should treat others. Who taught what a persons goals and values should be. In other words there was a standard by which life was measured. The world has changed. Nothing is that simple anymore. Evil and corruption have always been with us. We just had a clear way to measure it that we shared with everyone, mostly, that we had contact with. As religion has fallen out of our everyday lives we have lost the shared measuring standard. Or maybe it’s that the measure has been corrupted. Either way, the measure we use now is ourselves. Our feelings, or lack thereof, and our personal desires have become the measure. We seek out others who’s feeling and desires match our own. There is power in numbers. We are so many that feel such and such a way, so we must be right. There is no standard measure to judge our beliefs or to teach us to be tolerant of others beliefs. Well, I could go on but I’m tired. This older grandma lady in midwestern America got out of bed at 3:30 am because arthritis makes it difficult to stay there longer. Getting up early provides me plenty of time to see what the new day will bring.

Having been a paramedic for a long time, I can say news is not very accurate. We would go to a car crash or something, then see it on the news and know "that's not what happened." If I want to know about, say, the debate, I watch it, and LISTEN to what each person says. Then I figure out what oppinion I agree with. Just me. I try not to get into arguments w/those who want to argue or call people names. I will end an "aggressive person" by saying "if u don't agree w/what I have to say then u dont have to follow me."

Forgive me if I oversimplify this, but Brian’s truth commission is unlikely to come from politicians or even conscientious civil servants. It must begin with us. I’m a Canadian citizen living and working in the U.S. for the last 20 years. So I have some of that outsider’s perspective Brian mentioned. Like Brian, I was shocked by the last four years and more specifically by the last year or so of political campaigning here. It was an overwhelming tide of lies, bullying, and selfishness. BUT, I believe that truth is socially constructed for all of us. There are not many truly objective facts (please don’t kick a rock and tell me that you “refute it thus”). We learn and believe what we hear and see from those we CHOOSE to listen to. There is (always) some truth on both sides. If you have even one friend whose perspective on truth is not the same as yours, ask them why they believe what they believe and listen to them with your heart. If you don’t have a friend on the other side of this gulf, and if you’re not plugged into social media (as I am not), then spend just a little time watching a TV network that represents the “other” side. It’s hard to find a network that isn’t on one side or the other, but if you are liberal (Democrat) then watch the Fox network; if you are conservative (Republican) then watch CNN. Between politics and the pandemic, we’ve all become news junkies these past several months - all I’m suggesting is to watch or listen to the other side for just a little time with the objective of improving your understanding of that other side. My wife and I made a conscious and deliberate effort to do that during these past several months and although it didn’t change our perspective, it did give us a little better understanding of the other side. That is how we might begin to heal the gulf that Brian referred to. Brian - not crazy ramblings resulting from staying up all night… a heartfelt plea for mutual understanding and compassion. Could we all please just try to be a little kinder to each other?

It’s like people don’t know or have forgotten how to disagree respectfully. It’s always ‘I’m right and you’re wrong and if you try to discuss this with me I’m just going to fling a hundred insults at you’. This only serves to divide people further. Trying to find the truth sounds like a massive project but a very worthwhile one. We, all of us, all of us equally human, need to unite, because this isn’t about rep/dem, Tory/labour/lib dem or whatever. Politics by its very nature is divisive. It’s how the ruling elite keep us oppressed. Classic divide and conquer, keep us fighting each other and not fighting them. I’d love to be part of this Brian but I haven’t a clue where to start.

Bri's seeking to know if what's been reported 'bout tRump was true, then how/why would so many ppl (nearly 1/2 the country) voted for him to do a second term? So to ME, he's really asking to understand the 70M ppl's reasoning for voting the way they did. He only goes on to somewhat paint the picture of tRump from his perspective being British, but then concedes that MAYBE that picture of tRump is wrong (ore at least exaggerated). That's what Bri's asking...for those folks to give him valid & sane reasons for supporting him for another 4 yrs of his leadership 💁🏾‍♀️.

50 years ago, 75% of the US trusted the media. Now, 84% of the US despise the media. Our media is dishonest and refuses to look at things that make their candidates look bad. They are media, but not journalists. They are activists. I neither need nor want their opinion; I am competent to form my own opinions. From where I sit, the overwhelming majority of the lies are theirs. On the day of his inauguration, one of them tweeted that Mr. Trump had removed a bust of Martin Luther King from the Oval Office. Completely and maliciously untrue. That was the beginning of millions of lies. Some were thrown to paint Trump as a racist, (he must have been called ‘racist’ a million times an hour by the media) yet when he was “simply” a real estate developer, he had won lots of awards for hiring black contractors and sub-contractors, and for what he had done to help with housing for blacks in New York. Google has the evidence. Look for it-Trump and Jesse Jackson. Find a video called The Charlottesville Lie by a Latino whose name escapes me at the moment. A ‘joke’ is told by conservatives that if Trump walked across the waters of the Potomac River voted, the headlines would read TRUMP CANNOT SWIM!!! What was the old line? Tell a lie long enough and people will believe it. So if the media tells the hourly lies, how will they report what Mr. Trump says? And if he promotes the same type of program that members of his party have always promoted, how is he lying? Why weren’t the other members of his party also called liars when they said the same thing??? From where I sit, it seems clear that no matter what Mr. Trump had said, the media would have called it a lie. See, DJTrump, first of all, fought back against charges of racism. (He grew up in the Bronx as a member of the other party, and that’s what Bronx natives do. They punch back with greater force.) That was new. Members of his party crawfish away, and apologize. His solutions were set to include every one. How is that racist? Here’s how. Trump did not say, “This will help the blacks. This will help the trans. And the Latinos. And the Koreans. And the Brits. And the Germans, etc.” His methods said, ‘This will help everyone.’ And in this screwed-up world, judging people by the content of their character instead of by the color of their skin, Trump was said to be racist. Here’s the main reason I voted for Mr. Trump in 2016. Since Reagan left office, IMO our politicians only passed legislation about which they could say, “There was much in the bill that causes us to hold our nose, but we got some things we wanted, also.” (What kind of excrement are we describing when everyone has to hold their nose??!!!??) They either insult me, calling me “deplorable” or “chumps,” or talk down to me. I felt that decisions after decisions were the incorrect choice nearly every single time. Mr. Trump proposed simple, economically-viable solutions to things about which the politicians wanted to fight. And as long as they can fight each other, they can raise funds from donors. Mr. Trump doesn’t have the best morals in his history. He is not the most polished speaker. When he communicates, he seems to assume that his listeners have as much relevant, unclassified info as he has, and many times they don’t. He says a lot that is unnecessary, and leaves unsaid the most needed words sometimes. But his solutions, minus all the unlearned commentary from those that are paid to run their mouths, and stripped down to their core, make sense, are the least costly, and are the quickest. He’s not the usual politician. Every other pol revels in the applause that accompanies their arrival; his ‘common-man’ mindset forces him to applaud with his audience, applauding both his audience and his country.

I can strongly recommend getting away from any commercialized media...and start asking questions YOURSELF to actual persons who you meet. Its a great education.

I've lived through this bewilderment for 4 years. At first my heart was broken to know that a good one third of this country is enamored by this vile man. I understand why some people went in that direction in 2016. These folks feel disenfranchised, marginalized and feel unrepresented. But after 4 years of watching him. I have spent many sleepless nights attempting to analyze some variable. I believe that one issue is empathy. These supporters seem to show no empathy toward humanity. Sure they may put on a show in their group of friends or in their congregations, but deep in their being they seem to lack empathy for humanity. Brian, thank you so much for caring🥰. Your idea seems like a valid one.

Dear and beloved, I imagine how many important things you said, but I can’t translate into Portuguese on you tube, I can only watch and listen to you, I’ll look for other channels that translated everything you said like Twitter or the reporting channels where I can translate because it is written, because I cannot activate the translation command via voice. When I find out it will make it much easier. I appreciate the caring and love dedicated in this video, I love your sincerity and naturalness when talking about things, your heart is giant like you and you are so wonderful and you have a golden heart. Take good care of that heart that beats so hard and full of love ... Beloved you are vital for the humanity of this planet Kisses in heart

Melissa Bonatti, Here's the English translation which you should be able to use Google to translate. Hey folks, i'm doing my old thing of staying up all night and feeling crap the next day, which is not very clever, but, you know, sometimes if you stay up all night your brain starts to do unusual things and see into places you couldn't see before. So i'm gonna say something to you which came up in my head tonight and some of you will probably start to hate me, but hear me out to the end, because it may not be as simple as you think ,because I'm going to reveal my prejudices. But then i'm going to examine them. I'm outside the USA. but my heart is very much a part of the USA. i get a different view because i am outside. We get a kind of perspective from not being on site I suppose, but from being very involved, i mean my country is the shambles. It's got leadership which sadly has not done well, not provided the suitable leadership that we needed throughout this pandemic etc, so i have nothing to boast about being British, but looking at America i feel an amazing sense of bewilderment and i've spent a lot of time in the States so I have a little bit of understanding. Not enough understanding to make me even have a clue what happened in this recent election. Seems to me there are good people on both sides. This is indisputable. Between Republicans and Democrats there's enormous polarisation and the country's split down the two and not in a very amicable way. But there are definitely good people on both sides and I don't think anyone can dispute that. And the other indisputable thing is there is a lot of skullduggery going on, because given the same set of facts, if those facts are agreed, i think most human beings would come to the same kind of conclusion. The conclusion that I come to is that we must be given different sets of facts according to where we reside and what information we tune into. Now this has been already suggested in this very interesting film called "Social Dilemma". The theory is that once we express an opinion we are fed the information that we want to hear and so we get more and more polarised. To us over here, almost to a man we were shocked that almost half of America could look at what Donald Trump has done over the last four years and like it and actually want more of it. I mean, to us it's almost impossible to understand that, and this is where you guys can start to hate me, but what i'm telling you is based on the information that we have been fed, that was an inescapable conclusion. It seemed from the way it was painted and the media that we tuned into, that the man constantly lied and bullied and cheated and made a complete disgrace of himself, but still 70 million people went "Okay, he's a good man". Now that can only be the case if the information which we had is wrong or the information which you guys who voted for mr Trump is wrong. Somewhere there must be some truth. Somewhere there must be an absolute truth surely, and I haven't actually seen the information which leads to the conclusion that Donald Trump is a good man and i would like to see it. i really would, because what we're getting is none of that. so here's my thought. I'm prepared to look at the fact that we're wrong. It could well be so, you know, if we are actually somehow being fed false information. We think it's impartial. We have the BBC; we have our newspapers etc, but I don't know. So my thought is - wouldn't it be interesting to set up a Board, a Commission of people on both sides of the gulf - some good Republicans, some good Democrats - perhaps people that everyone agrees are decent people or at least the majority of people agreed on. That you put them together and maybe some people who are not committed either way . Maybe some people outside the US, who can take an impartial view because they're actually not anchored to any political party. So you set up these people - a Board of I don't know how many people - 20 people - and they go on a mission and the mission is to find out the truth, to evaluate all these claims that are made both for and against Mr Trump and Mr Biden and find out what the truth actually is. And I wonder if that would make a difference? i wonder if it would start to heal the gulf, the dreadful split, which is paralyzing America and it's not so similar, it's not so different in this country actually, there is a gulf here too, but I think this would be a good place to start. So I would like to see somebody put that Commission together, the Truth Commission, and let's find out what's actually been happening. Let's find out why we have such radically different views and some people see a great man and some people see a a very very very bad man. I want to know, and i think a lot of people would like to know, I would like the truth to be somehow sealed in a bottle and put somewhere safe so that we can always refer to it. Maybe this is crazy the crazy ramblings of a silly old sod who stayed up all night but on the other hand maybe it's a good idea? I don't know. I'd love to see somebody take it up and put this together. I hand it over to those who could perhaps make this happen. God bless you all, Let's find the truth ... ... Yes, it is very interesting how great the divide is. I have also scratched my head in trying to understand it and trying to figure out the 'other side'. In South Africa, after Apartheid, the 'Truth and Reconciliation Commission' was set up to heal the wounds of Apartheid. Exposing the truth was a painful yet necessary process for moving forward and healing. Just discovered your 'Love of my Life' microconcert #16 and loving it - thank you so much for sharing that. :)

This is why we love you, Dr. May. You are a voice of reason in a time of chaos. Could we persuade our politicians to bring in laws, with meaningful penalties, against lying while holding (or benefitting from) public office? Penalties to include bans on holding future public office? Please keep bringing us your late night thoughts, as they encourage us to think further on the situation we find ourselves in, and that is where solutions lie.
