    I have been doing this for 40 years and still have to make tweaks as fish refuse to cooperate with my plans and intentions. It is nice to see someone that is not afraid to show things that were perhaps a bit short of success. You are one of the few KZreadrs I watch and enjoy. It's nice to come back to older videos because I am never done learning and love new ideas. Thank you.

    We have about 75 cory's in 16 different varaities. Here they spawn eggs most of the time when the waterlevel gets lower and the spraybar comes above the waterlevel what mimics rain on water. Mostly they lay their eggs about 3 or 5 cm below the waterlevel on the windows or something that hangs there vertically like the thermometer or the waterinlet. I roll the eggs from the windows and put them in a seperate little tank of 20 liters with an airpomp. The first month we give them Artemia and Dapnia (dried powder) This way is very succesfull for us and raised many cory babies.

    Than you for sharing this process. I agree that maybe letting the tub season and grow alge. Maybe even place some seasoned structure and plants in the bottom like they had in their tank? I am looking forward to the continuation of this process.

    To breed in them bins, I think you should put them outside expose to the sun full of rain water and let them bin age with guppies so alge grow on the walls. I said guppies to stop mosquitoes and produce waste to activate formation of alge, so molly or platy will work too. That is my idea, please don't try painting your bin first most paint are smooth and second toxic. Alge texture and not toxic. I don't think you want to kill your breeders. All the best with your breeding, you are doing good.👍🐟🐟🐟

    I have a colony of the 9 Schultzei Black Cory's that spawn for me every few weeks. They are a line bred version of the C. Schultzei, which the non black variety looks very similar to C. Aeneus. I keep them in a standard 20g High tank. They do lay pretty good batches of eggs, but they like to spawn on vertical spaces. Very often times my will spawn in the corners of the top of the tank. In addition to the corners of the tank they love to spawn vertically on jungle vals and another hornwort like plant I have floating in the tank. I would say they spawn in the afternoon, but I haven't found any correlation between waterchanges, but feeding heavy amounts of bloodworms does help a bunch. I find Hikari to work the best as it is a smaller bloodworm. I like to feed two cubes a night- always excess food. Catfish love to eat! I only have a sponge filter, hornwort, jungle vals, and java moss in the tank, on sand. When I do get eggs, the problem isn't hatching the eggs, I have issues raising the fry. Really happy to see another person breeding corys with passion! I never see anybody doing anything with them.

    To make it all even better, just a few hours after I made this comment my colony spawned! The method I am trying is a the half gallon hang on back fluval breeder box on my 75g tank so I can feed a lot and heavy without doing water changes. I had some success with it in the past, but the largest issue is time and keeping up on feedings

    Have you tried changing water level to breed Cories? I feel that with some it's more effective to allow the water to get low (~50% full or less) and then fill it up as they can feel the difference in pressure.

    Hi and compliment for your passion and your fish farm. For this project in my opinion you have a great idea, but if possible you could increase the success if you use a glass slide instead of mops or pvc pipes. I noticed Corys loves breads and put their eggs on glass and if you use several glass slide (1 at time) till they spamm, every day you could move the slide in a haching acquarium fighting fungus and other problems and every day the cory could spamm on a new and clean glass. Do you believe this idea could works? I make you my best compliments again for your really good works and sorry for my little english

    @@ThereHeIsOutdoors Have u never heard of seeding new sponges/filters with old filter/tank media? Instantly cycled tank. The man's a pro, he wouldn't be that senseless and reckless to try and chance it with new filters.

    @@jamesholmes2082 Trust me, it has been done, even by "pros". I have spiked a few times when introducing fish to tanks that I thought were cycled or had a new filter as I had nothing else at hand. And I have bred just about everything with fins.

    My Corydoras aeneus started spawning after I simulated rain...I had two males and one big female. And I watched the whole spawning, very different type of spawning...the female deposited/stuck the eggs(held in her pelvic fins) on the glass, I couldn't find any eggs on the plants. Corydoras aeneus are also from Venezuela.

    Great videos as always. Just a suggestion, it would be really cool / super helpful, if you could do a quick rundown of the water quality that is used in these breeding videos. You did this in your Tetra breeding video but, I didnt see one here. I think your content is great.. just a little something to help enrich the content. Would be nice to see on all your videos, the following: * PH * Temperature * Hardness

  • @AndrewFishman

    @AndrewFishman

    For most COries - pH - 6 - 7.2 Hardness minimal. Temp, depends on species, 22 - 26. What seems more important in triggering a spawn is a cooler water change. A big water change, not a pissy little 25%. Like 75% and refill with cooler water. Not cold water, but a couple of degrees cooler than the regular keeping temp.

    Fill bucket with water. Put in rock, a couple of flower pots on their side and some gravel as they love to dig. Add heater 22 degrees and sponge filter. Add pair of convicts. Collect the babies as they grow out. Connies are easier to get to breed than to stop breeding. Jewels also.
