As Tal Sagi says, when you grow up in an apartheid state and it is all you know, you don't question it. I grew up in South Africa and was a teen in the early 90's before the national elections. I remember the side walks. Whites walked on one side and non-whites on the other. I didn't question it because it was normal. As a child, I couldn't understand why our maid wasn't allowed to come to the beach with us but I didn't question it. When you grow up in the sort of environment and it is normal, you don't see anything wrong with it. It is only in retrospect that you realise the horrors of what happened and how we dehumanised the majority of the South African population.

You are so right. They should have spoken out about jewish violence in the region before now. I wonder when you think they should have started? When should they have spoke out against "Jewish acts of violence? " Should they have spoken out. between 1920 and 1938 when 100% of the violence was coming from the Arabs? Should they have spoken out when the Arabs staged a violent revolt from 1936-1939, committing attack after attack until the British agreed to appease them by shutting off all Jewish immigration in to what was slated to become their homeland. Should they have spoken out when an entire boat full of Jewish war refugees were left to drown rather than breaking that agreement and allow them to reach the holy land? Should they have spoken out when the Palestinian mufti violentlu r*aped and otherwise brutalized Jews in Baghdad, driving 150,000 of them from their homes in what was referred to as the 1941 Farhud-a campaign that was the first of what was to be a million Jews who were dispossessed of their homes in the Middle East Should they have spoken out when the laid siege to Jerusalem and tried to starve the Jews out of leaving their homes? Should they have spoken out when the Arabs declared war in 1948? Should they have spoken out when the Arabs repeatedly attacked civilians along the border and kept trying to destroy every attempt the Israelis made at building water infrastructure Should they have spoken out when the Arabs moved their armies in to position and sent the un peacekeepers out of the region, effectively starting the war in 1967. Should they have spoken out when the Arabs acquired missiles from the Soviets and violated their ceasefire agreement during the war of attrition in 1970? Should they have spoken out when the Arabs once again declared war in 1973? Should they have spoken out when the Israelis turned over all of Gaza in the hopes of moving the peace process forward, facilitated the arrival of billions in infrastructure materials needed to improve their water pipe lines and even left a booming floral industry, told them jumpstart the economy only for the military to instead use those pipe and the fertilizer for the construction of missiles It should they have spoken out on the Arabs began the first intifada, and started killing thousands of Jews, in their marketplace, in their restaurants, and there public transportation? Should they have spoken out when Yasser Arafat walked away from what many believe was the best chance the two groups ever had at peace and a second intifada was begun? You would be correct in pointing out that this conflict didn't begin on October 7 but I'd like to know when in that history you believe we all should've been speaking out against all of the Israeli violence because I don't see when in that history you had in mind!

I am slowly realizing how conditioned I am to horrors. The series THE CROWN warned its audience of traumatic scenes of Diana throwing up. But the episode of the death of the Romanoffs began with graphic footage of the slaughter - no cautionary intro. This hit me between the eyes, blew my mind. I am 86 and grew up watching WWII movies. No TV. But those movies inserted and fed ideas I am now seeing. AI began long before the tech mechanism. Manufacturing reality became possible when we were driven off the land, into cities, away from nature, our fathers no longer home, able to guide and protect. Rape became the most unreported epidemic ever to devastate the human race. To this day. As I said, wake up time

Greatest respect for these two members of Breaking the Silence, as well as for the organization generally, and also for the conscientious objector. Their testimonies are invaluable. Their stand for decency and peace and against genocide deserves the highest praise, as does their courage in speaking out.

It is so amazing for me as a longtime watcher of democracy now to see the subscriber count continue to increase every single week I think since the war has started hundreds of thousands of subscribers have been added it is amazing to see a whole new generation find out about democracy now and the wonderful work that Amy and Juan and Nurmeen do

Im from Hungary and I watch it every day! One of the better political youtube channel is also using democracy now videos for explaining what is going on. Here in Hungary in the news media they show nothing, one newspaper reported that Gazans are on a diet thats why they are skinny. The city is full of Israelis on holiday 😢

Are you kidding? Germany killed 6 million Jews who never once picked up a gun. They were forced in to labor camps until they died. By comparison israel is fighting back after Gaza's elected government invaded their country and in trying to kill Hamas they are incidentally killing 1 civilian for every fighter in the process. You think that is the same? Thanks for sharing the ways in which people could take action to make the politicians stop and put an end to this genocide. Praying for the release of hostages, and the pressure should increase on politicians to stop war and stop sending weapons for destruction. Its so heartbreaking that politicians are so cruel to let this madness continue.

Not a settler state. The Jews are indigenous to judea. Experts have specific criteria for determining indigeneity when was changed to add that they have to be living off their land, a criteria that just so happened to be added right after the jews regained their ancestral lands. No indigenous rights group accepts that they would lose their indigenous status should they ever reclaim a portion of theory land and based on all the remaining standards the Jews are the indigenous people of judea.

I have to ask, what other way could have Palestinians, even Hamas, could have been listened to, to register their hopelessness and outrage at the occupation and treatment given them for decades - to be taken seriously - BESIDES a surprise attack of violence? They tried for so long to oppose the apartheid and control that Israel continued to justify and ignore. I don't condone the violence against Israel - but really - what would have convinced the Israeli's that these inequalities and injustice were morally, politically, and militarily - unsustainable to achieve peace and safety for Israel or Palestinians?

Unfortunately the problem has never been to educate or inform the Israelis, the problem has been and is still to inform the American public about the corruption of theirs politicians and theirs médias. Israel has no means whatsoever to dominate the palestinians without the imprecedented political, financial and military support of the United States and theirs allies hiding theirs crimes behind lies and willful misinformation served to theirs populations. Even the churches leaders has been bought by the Israelis lobbies. The same lobbies that control the banks who borrow the needed money to buy the needed weapons from the factories owned by the same lobbies the whole paid off by American tax payer's money.

Until october most Palestinian prisoners had a relatively nice time in Israeli prisons, even those proud of deliberately killing civilians, that girl who only stabbed her Jewish neighbor, and so on. it was like a hotel compared to your typical muslim country or far east country.
