Breaking Down The Highs And Lows Of The Office | Compilation
Ойын-сауық
We put together a 90 minute compilation of all our videos about The Office. Hope you enjoy!
The Office may go down as one of the best sitcoms ever put on television. Not only was it a ratings juggernaut, critically acclaimed, and beloved by fans across many generations, but The Office has a staying power not seen by many shows throughout history. The Office will forever be researched and directed, but nothing quite beats firing up that season 1 disc and restarting the series from the beginning.

I’m on My second rewatch while listening to the Office Ladies Podcast. The Office has become a daily routine in my House.
The episode that changed my personal perception of Michael was the Halloween episode when he was so happy to hand out candy to the kids. You could just see in his eyes he was lonely & just wanted friends and family. He's had a soft spot in my heart ever since
I think I’ve watched it like seven times. It doesn’t get old! Perfect background noise show and when you watch with full attention it’s still hilarious even after multiple rewatches.

Their biggest mistake with the Deangelo plotline, was casting a famous comedic icon. The whole premise of the show was built on using actors who were unknown at that time. But choosing Will Ferrell felt like they were panicking to figure out what to do after Carrell, so they picked him hoping that the audience would already like him because they know who he is.

also, when ever I get to that part, it reminds me of season 1 Michael, he was funny, but I couldn’t stand him
Regarding treating the camera crew as actual people, when Michael drives his car into the lake, you can see him helping the camera guy out of the back seat.

Why do people keep saying this? He was going for the basket of chocolates. Alternatively, it was Steve worried about the cameraman.
There's still plenty of things I enjoy after Michael leaves, but he will forever be the heart of the show.

I think Parks & Rec as an spiritual successor to The Office learned a lot of its first season mistakes. Unlike Michael, Leslie Knope is actually extremely competent and passionate about her job and thats why you always root for her. Also a lot more emphatetic and less selfish; and even with those qualities is an extremely fun character to watch. You dont always need your main character to be a jerk to be entertaining, a mistake I feel comedies usually do when the main character is a man
@shinobi-no-bueno

I'd say they overcorrected in the first season. Leslie was unlikable at first but for the opposite reasons, she was too perfect

Which is funny because in the first season and especially the first episode she basically is michael.
I promise I’ll come back and finish your video, ima go watch Office clips.
Should’ve ended when Carrell left. Or, do one more full season after that, just tying up loose ends and story lines, and end it with one massive emotional goodbye episode.
I love all your content, but imo a huge office high is Dwight eventually owning the office and specifically "Nate" the maintenance guy, later warehouse worker.. that guy is next level for the series.
This was an absolutely fantastic analysis of The Office! And I really appreciated the long format. The Office (US) actually has a youtube channel that's very active. They constantly upload compilation videos and even have had live streams, like having a live Office Trivia game during the holidays this past year (I can't remember if it was closer to Christmas or New Year's). I'm not sure if it's true, but someone in the chat once said it's the guy who played Mose who's in charge of the channel. I'd highly recommend any office fans checking them out. And yeah, the characters who tried to get in between Jim and Pam were most definitely strongly disliked. I know I absolutely despised the Kathy character who was trying to get Jim to cheat with her.
It was really nice and refreshing hearing Tyler’s voice on this channel again
Okay! Okay! I'll watch The Office again.
The Office will always be my Desert Island show. Ive seen the show more times than I can count. I watch through the series at least twice a year. Sometimes more. It reminds me of a better time and the characters feel like old friends to me. I dont think there will ever be a show like it again. Im excited to see spinoff though!

I love how you elaborate how the american Office changed Michael Scott so he doesn't become a villain. The exact opposite approach of the German Office version : They took David Brent's mean nature and amped it up to a thousand to create "Stromberg". I couldn't even go through one episode. It's unbearable. I love the british and the american version :)
What We Do in the Shadows is now a series in FX. It has several seasons.
Andy Bernard was the worst thing of the office. For me his arc was complete with his explosion. Not everyone needs a happy end.
I love what you've done with your channel. I think Nerdstalgic is great. Would still love to hear your takes on what makes video games great.

Thanks for all the support! We actually have a video game centered video coming out in the next few weeks. Keep your eyes open!
Andy's character was so annoying that I skipped through the scenes he was in from START to FINISH. Even with his character change he was still annoying and keeping him was the biggest mistake they made with the show. To put it into perspective of how much I disliked the character, I would've rather preferred Robert California to stay until the end rather than have Andy become manager
I'm surprised the low doesn't just consist of everything after Michael left

@6thwilbury2331
Ай бұрын
I've never heard anyone call it "bad" per se. More like the worst of the Michael Scott era, if anything. But I know "The Alliance," "Basketball" and "Diversity Day" hold up pretty well against the rest of the series for me. If there is a downside to Season 1, it creates the most inconsistencies with the rest of the series. For example, in "The Alliance," Michael can't think of anything to write about Meredith, as if he doesn't really know her. But from Season 2 forward, Meredith is pretty much a sad caricature of an alcoholic single mom - simply not someone for whom Michael would have nothing to say. (Also, the birthdays established in that episode do not jibe with Jim's subplot in "Survivor Man.") Season 1 also has faces in the background that we never see in subsequent seasons, and one could explain this by saying those people were laid off due to budget problems. In fact, this could have been retconed in Season 2's "Halloween." When corporate requires Michael to fire someone (eventually Devon), there could have been a single line inserted in there - e.g. "You told me there wouldn't be any more layoffs after last summer, and now you want me to can someone on Halloween?" Anyway, I'm with you... I think Season 1 is great. The tone of the season matched most closely with what the series was meant to depict - a documentary. The story lines were the most realistic and relatable to a real workplace. My guess is 90 percent of fans got into the show later (Season 2 for me, for example), so when they go back and watch Season 1, it seems too subtle and understated. For these fans, Kevin being surprisingly good at basketball isn't as funny as Kevin spilling a pot of chili. Jim putting Dwight's stapler in JELL-O isn't as funny as Jim staging a murder scene in the hotel. Stuff like that.

the background music really drives me crazy after a while. can't keep watching
when i first started the office, i could not get through the first season. I hated michael scott’s character and I just couldn’t do it. it was on my 3rd attempt to watch it that i actually got to season 2 and now it it my favorite show. my comfort show
Who’s doing the narration? I recognize the voice as a KZread video essayist who I really enjoyed, but I think the algorithm stopped giving me his videos. I’d love if you could link his channel so I can check him out again!
Is this a reaploud? I feel like i have watched this already?
i’m really confused why people hate brian so much, wasn’t he just comforting Pam? not actually doing anything romantic with her? what do people expect? pam to just cry by herself without anyone comforting her? isn’t that harder tho watch?
If you haven't already you should check out the series "The Trailer Park Boys" They were one of the first to use the mockumentary style of filming a series and were geniuses at it. When watching TPB you'd swear these are real people and real conversations but all of it was meticulously written, rehearsed and shot.
18:57 Andy was insufferable throughout the show. The worst character.

The high was starting this series without Gervais involved. Dude is able to suck any heart or happiness out of anything he touches. And the office Americas wouldn’t even be on my list of favorite shows.
Yet another remake 🙄
I'm not Gervais' biggest fan, but The Office was an absolute work of genius. A game changer. The US version just didn't hit the same. The changes to make the format more palatable to a US audience played a part, but I think none of the US characters being as compelling as their UK counterparts was a bigger factor. It ended up being a fairly generic sit-com.
Dwight is not the father.
Haven't watched the video yet but had The Office ended with S3, it would've gone down as the GOAT sitcom. There's a very noticeable decline from S4 onward.

Introducing Holly ruined the show imo, she is not funny or memorable compared to Jan. Poorly written character and her episodes with Michael are usually either cringe or depressing.

Idk, I think Holly was the perfect match for Michael. She was similar enough to him that they got along rly well, but she was also, in many ways, a better person than Michael was when they met. This works because it forced Michael to grow and become a better person himself
