    Nope, I wasn't excited to see Barney's fatherhood with some girl we didn't even met. I was excited to see him gradually becoming even better and caring person in his marriage with Robin. It doesn’t really count… that ending isn’t real tm it’s disrespects Barney as he had done emotional and mental development and this just never sat right with me. He was fine being with Robin, who he already said he was okay with not having kids. This storyline along with Robin’s infertility story is so disrespectful towards her that even if these storylines didn’t happen… that ending is still terrible. I hate this story and I will gladly ignore that and everything else in THAT ending.

    @@JSulikowska it was a way for them to disregard Barney’s feelings and life after breaking up his marriage. He wouldn’t have gone down that path realistically he would have had a kid with Robin if they wanted that. He wouldn’t have done this if he was okay with the way things went down with Robin. This along with killing Tracy and the character development was wasted on good writing. These plots are terribly done. It has no place in the series. Barney was perfectly fine and happy with Robin, they are happiest with each other even if they did split up both wouldn’t react to it in this way because both had character development. They would be devastated, the stuff after their wedding was not necessary.

  • @Sharzzz12

    @Sharzzz12

    Ай бұрын

    @@MylingCyrus yeah, it really doesn’t. The woman Barney knocks up is just some bad plot device it disrespects Barney and Robin as well because she couldn’t have kids. And, don’t even get me started with how they used Tracy as a baby maker. That’s the reason why this ending is so shitty. It also disrespects Lily, all the women on this show are not taken seriously, the men (Ted and Marshall) particularly got the endings the creators wanted without seeing things more from the woman’s perspective or Barney who had not only grew to actually fall in love with someone, had a real relationship with who just happened to not be able to give him a kid, a kid that he so conveniently got from someone else he wasn’t even in a relationship with, he just knocks her up and we hear nothing about it because it does not go with the actual meaning of the show. The ending is purely a fanfic that was written terribly and there are fanfics that are written much better than that crap they tried and failed to write. It’s why I chose to ignore everything about that ending and just keep Barney married to Robin. They both were miserable because of that divorce which wasn’t necessary. It was all for the plot for Ted. Had nothing to do with them or their relationship which was fine.

    @@RSpracticalshooting The premise and ending of HIMYM was based in the novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez "Love in the time of chollera", which is Ted's favourite book. In the novel we meet Florentino, a man who briefly strikes a romance with a young girl called Fermina. After breaking up he waits half a century for her spouse to die so that they can be reunited at old age. And he doesn't wait six years, he goes to the funeral and proclaimes his neverending love for her after 50 years. She had done her duty as a wife, she had 2 kids, boy and girl and meanwhile Florentino had a long list of lovers, as we see Ted in the series tell his kids about all his hookups. Was the ending perfect? no, but that was the reason they did it, I would love to have at least one more season to watch it unfold and know more about Tracy, but I understand why they killed her off. I recently watched the whole series again and it makes sense, Ted's love for Robin never went away, he just accepted reality and in the end he got another shot, just like in the novel.

    @@RSpracticalshooting I answered but somehow it got deleted. The premise and ending of HIMYM is based upon the novel "Love in the time of chollera by Gabriel García Márquez, which is Ted's favorite book. The story goes about a man called Florentino Ariza who strikes a brief romance with a girl named Fermina Daza. After they break up she gets married and has 2 kids, a boy and a girl. Florentino bows to wait for her and does for more than 50 years, and meanwhile he has a long list of lovers, just like Ted's tells their kids about all his hookups in his youth. Finally, when Fermina's husband dies he shows up at the funeral and proclaims his neverending love for her. She rejects him at first but then she realizes that she has done her duty as a wife and as a mother and gives Florentino another chance. That's the reason we got that confusing finale, it's badly executed as I said, I would love to have had another season to watch it unfold, know more of Tracy and witness Robin and Barney fall out of love in a more organic way. I recently watched the series again and it makes sense, Ted's love for Robin never went away, he just accepted reality and waited until their dreams of family or professional success were no longer an obstacle.

    These network (your local channels) sitcoms have to thread the needle and one of the hardest types of entertainment out. Needs to be funny, surprising, yet staying the same so the viewer will come back each week to check in with the characters they enjoy. The characters need to progress, but too much learning from past hijinks could be considered change and sitcoms are supposed to be comfort food. Something you watch at home and forget all the bad things outside and laugh at your television friends and the things they get into.

    I generally disagree with the assessment of the end. I do not view it as Ted “settled” for Tracy. I viewed it as he basically ended up with the life he wanted, as did Robin. Ted got to achieve his dream of building a sky scraper in NY, met the perfect woman who understood him without forcing anything, and got the 2 kids he always wanted. It was unfortunate the mother passed but Ted was always seeking love and a companion, after 6 years without it, he was finally ready to move on. Being a single widower in your 40s really doesn’t sound great. By that point Robin had achieved everything she wanted to as well in her career which was her main focus. They weren’t necessarily made for each other like Ted and Tracy BUT they were almost always willing to try and make it work for each other. Additionally, if Robin were to marry Ted, he never could have the 2 children he wanted. The entire story truly focused on Robin from day 1. It is weird to me that people thought the ending was farfetched. I will concede the ending was rushed… the made the final season go over like a 5 day span, and then the last 2 episodes went over the next 15 years. It would have been nice to spend some actual time with Ted and Tracy but the ending pretty from the start was clear.

But in himym you see lilly and marshal - perfect together and happy and it works perfectly still being funny. I understand himym couldn't stay on TV if he met the mother but in so many other shows - like gilmore girls or scrubs they can't be with the person they're meant to be with because the writers can't write a lilly and marshal situation

    i’m always so frustrated by people’s inability to enjoy art when it’s wrapped up in a comfort blanket-the sitcom. the entire show was about ted and robin. but she could not be the mother. and art reflects life. and life doesn’t get a happy ending, most of the time! it is a beautiful story and you have to realize it would make LESS SENSE for the show to just give the happy ever after. but life is not a fairy tale! and this story shows how you can make a beautiful life, and i can fall apart for whatever reason. cancer IS a real thing that happens! it feels really dumb that ppl feel this entitlement to a happy ever after and refuse to appreciate any other version. all that said ted is a huge jerk but that’s irrelevant to the point. edit: as seen in the video - “loss is a part of life”.

    It's hard to ruin a show with an ending, but this shows wrecked itself in the final episode. Also, all the incels who were watching the show to admire Barney's game, saw that just outwaiting and then grand gesturing, and the "female" obsession they have will throw themselves into their arms... 😢

    The strike was not only great for every actor and employee of HIMYM having better residuals, benefits, etc. it also created a large moral boost which motivated everyone to make many more great seasons to come. Why shit on the strike, labor rights and well being of himym employees? for no reason… u literally said their return from the strike had the best ratings yet. Ur never gonna be a fox ceo, ur never gonna have a multi million dollar bonus at stake. Knock off the scab behavior it doesn’t benefit u or the fans.

    Completely disagree it took HIMYM 2 seasons to find its footing. I’d argue seasons 1-3 are _easily_ the three best seasons. Once you get to season 4 it’s more up and down because it felt like the writers were trying to - this wasn’t really a thing then - but go viral. Or hit the zeitgeist. (Which started the back half of season 3.) It was very “stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen” There are still plenty of home runs in the first 64 episodes but way fewer strikeouts. Although the 7 episode run in season six (Glitter to Last Words then Oh Honey) might be peak HIMYM. But the other 16 episodes in six were ehh

    I have one point that no one ever seems to make about How I Met Your Mother... the slap bet is the most toxic, abusive, and UNFUNNY long standing bit I've ever seen on a show especially the episode where they tie Barney down. I don't remember what supposedly obnoxious Barney did to Marshall but I certainly ALWAYS REMEMBER the supposedly adorkable Marshall assaulting his friend for years.

    I wish at one point that one of the kids would of stopped dad from telling them about every girl he hooked up with. That would of Ben a pretty crazy thing to hear your father start from the beginning (kids already know who mom was) and the kids have to sit there as dad regales them with every girl, in sequential order too. If they got cancelled it would of been funnn if the daughter cut Ted off mid sentence and says she’s gotta study for a math test. “But It’s summer vacation!?” “Crazy right!? Math never goes on vacation.” Daughter walks out. Son doesn’t budge and looks excited that it’s now just the two boys. Son leans in and says, “any pics or vids of any of the broads?” The end

    A simple test is to listen to S Club Party by S Club 7. There is a part towards the end of the song - you’ll know it when you hear it … If you find it funny, you’ll like HIMYM. If you find it cringe or offensive, you won’t (Also if you have no idea who S Club 7 is you _probably_ won’t like it.)
