Breakdown of AE Presentation from the Balintawak Legacy Gathering
Here are some of the more in depth concepts that I did not get to cover in the Legacy presentation due to time constraints.
I spoke a bit on where I am in my own training and thinking about AE. My goal is and has always been to take the life time of material that we have and simplify my thinking, stream line my own teaching, while making myself and students functional.
The 3 main categories that I classify most of my training into is
1.) Defend and Counter Striking (if you cannot maintain proper movement and defense structure under heavy speed and pressure, do not go any further).
2.) Quadrant System as reference to position (i.e. know where you are at all times and where you will be at every movement).
The technique components of Countering Holds on the Weapon Hand and Weapon aka weapon retention skills (this is my functional thinking on disarming, locking, trapping, countering techniques, etc.)
Hope you guys enjoy.

I like your movies so much. Thanks Master.😊
Nice to actually hear someone speak of the importance of maintaining forward pressure as lots of the moves leave you wide open to counter strikes without it.
Thanks Malcom. We always pressure test everything, and when there is a breakdown or "room for counter" it is almost always because of a break down in forward pressure (structure and intent).
I love the detail of this video
Superior training
