I was literally thinking the same thing when listening to Kierra. I didn’t have a lot of expectations of the anybody except her and Jade. Brandy’s coaxial technique made these beasts look like novices 🤯

I CRIED while Keke dragged us to church. I always knew that was meant to be a gospel song but the backgrounds and the arrangements were... whew lawd.

This first girl underestimated Brandy's strong contralto. Brandy's bottom notes ain't no joke.

I hate how Brandy is legit the BEST female singer of this generation, but they play her, don't invite her to sing at the BET Awards to sing tribute songs to other artists, when she would kill whatever song they asked her to do as we all know she would, and then when they do a tribute to her they basically do a glorified high school talent show with a bunch of hollering and oversinging. They wouldn't ever do this to Beyonce. Who approved this? I mean not that this is terrible, ok it kinda is turrrrible, but top tier vets should be doing this. You know who would have done a great job? JoJo. Tori Kelly. KeKe Wyatt. Etc. Jade Nova is the only one I would ask back, but I would have her do a different song, and not be so frenetic.

@ Brucewayntfitness. I hear you. I thought it was all good the first time watching with a few issues. When I watched it again I only felt like Jade Novah brought a little something to it. Samoht did end the song well, but I wasn’t sure if he was doing a remix or forgot some lyrics. Kiki disappointed me because I have the new cd “Kierra and it’s great. I needed her to bring it like I know that she can. Honestly singing “Have you ever and He is” she did ok. All I hear on everyone is the background killing it. She also took us to church towards the end of the song. Eric Bellinger was very disappointing to me. I like him, but this wasn’t it. He should of not closed the show. Maybe he should have went second after Jade and either Kiki or Samoht could have closed the show. I agree with the majority that a better OVERALL tribute was needed for B-rocka.

Brocka definitly needs a better crew. Like Missy's tribute. I also think Brandy needs more recognition and more albums. Her catalogue is Stellar, but she needs more music. :-)

Brandy deserves better, BUT everyone did a great job except Eric (that was awful he ruined one of my favorite Brandy songs). Those background singers KILLED IT though. I hope whoever decides to do a Brandy tribute next really takes their time to pick & choose the right people. Seems like this was planned last minute and they choose whoever was available during this time to do it. As the other comments said The Walls Group, India Arie, JAZMINE SULLIVAN, Jill Scott and so many more should have been apart of this tribute. We don't call her the vocal bible for nothing and she needs to be given a tribute she deserves.

Agreed, aside from Kierra Sheard there's definitely more talent out there. Eric Dillinger did an awful rendition of Nothing. He messed up by doing half the song in falsetto. Brandy belts that song and he disrespected it.

@@huntergreene9781 Eric did a good job. He's a man so it would be completely asinine for anyone to expect a female's range from him. If he belted those notes out, being that he is a man, it would've sounded way too harsh for a ballad like Nothing. He did the best he could do with that song and it was falsetto. He hit every run on the nose and proved to her that he's a fan that studies her music. That's the whole point of a tribute. Maybe start listening to less female artists and more male vocalists so you'll be able to appreciate men's voices. No worries, I used to have the same problem, but I grew out of it. Time for you too as well, especially since you're a full grown man yourself.

@John Black Jr. They literally had another male in the tribute who sang her song with no issue. His only slip up was he forgot the lyrics, but he still made the song his own. He doesn't have to necessarily sing in the same range, but he should have picked a song that fit within his range. Besides that dude is no vocalist he isn't meant to sing for a artist like Brandy. It's like having SZA sing for Whitney or Mariah it makes absolutely no sense. There are plenty of male artists who can sing a Brandy song no issue.

JadeNovah was the best! I enjoyed her. Kiki was nervous but she came through slightly (I wanted more). Eric had good moments.....Dude with the hat (Samon), I skipped through. But I'm glad she got some flowers! But yes, we need a do over with Jade, Normani, Chloe and Halle, Teyana, Keri, Mario....who else yall?! Queen B deserves it! #MonicacouldNeva. And I enjoy Monica but Brandy is E.VE.RY.THING!!!

I must agree. Also, he just wasn't connected to the song - period. Not only did he mess up the lyrics, but, I felt like he added no color to the song. There was never A point in the song where he climaxed, in what should have been the build up of the song. He just merely depended on runs, which didn't bail him out of the performance. Even at the break down part of the song, where he could have captivated the audience's attention, he didn't capitalize on that moment neither. Very disappointing. I've heard him sing before on youtube, and know he can sing. But, here in this clip, he on'y showed he can do runs and sing. But, not necessarily sing any of Brandy songs. As A male, he should have played that song because of the low register and key the song is in. Brandy deserved better.
