Brandon Toews Learns “The Dying Song” As Fast As Possible

A little while ago, we dared Domino Santantonio - a modern pop drummer - to play a Slipknot song after hearing it once.
She's not a metal drummer and she's never listened to Slipknot. We also didn't let her hear what the drum part sounded like. Call us unfair, but we thought it turned out great!
Domino gave it her own spin, and over 2.5M views later, she's back to give us a taste of our own medicine.

Yeah, if you're not used to playing double bass and blast beats it will definitely push you to your limit... I remember meeting Hellhammer once in my teens and the dude had arms and legs thicker than my whole body, that's what a drummer that plays basically _nothing but_ blast beats every song of every gig they play almost has to look because of how much strength and stamina something like that requires. The amount of time spent at the gym some of the metal drummers I've known is pretty much comparable to semi-professional athletes, and that's on top of the time they spend practicing on the drums 😅

@Brandon Toews for someone who doesn't play it often though, you did a great job honestly. I've never given double bass a good shot, always had the mind set of trying to learn as much as I can with a single, but I've been considering trying double haha. Great work again Brandon, love your content on YT and Insta : )

Seemed to be indeed brutal. Felt like like doing a marathon! Though, I would have found interesting to see your next guests doing the challenge (or even Brandon) play like a latin track for example. I would love to see them using different abilities than just playing with power and endurance. What about sensitivity and/or pocket, for example? Cheers, Drumeo!

Congrats Brandon for taking up this challenge to play a drum cover from Slipknot, something new from the new album, The End so far! You rocked hard and just Domino said before, you just kneeled it :D, very happy to see what is the next challenge for Domino this time. Wish you all good luck with the new upcoming drumming lessons and new drum cover challenges. P.S. I propose and raise a new challenge, I would like to give to Domino the chance to play drum cover "Caravan" from "Whiplash". I hope she will enjoy the mind blasting swing-jazz jam 😉🔥👏🏼 👍👍
