Thank you! that helps :D Btw did you have something like air supply or did you use something that would automatically suck in air? I'm a little stuck there with my own research.

+Nadja van Ham The tanks you see on the side store air and I refilled with an air compressor or a bicycle pump. I will make the next pair using air soft tanks that go to MUCH higher pressures. The trade off is that it will open many more times but you cannot jury rig it and you have to pay a few dollars to refill.

Ooh thanks, what kind of tanks did you use? I'm allright with refilling with a normal bicycle pump, so that's not a problem for me. I am curious as to where you're able to buy air soft tanks. I'm not sure where to buy them back here in the netherlands.

+Nadja van Ham I used Bimba air storage tanks from www.fierofluidpower.com/. I can go to an Air soft store here in Idaho, USA but I am not sure of a good website for Air soft parts.

It is really awesome!! I'd like to make something similar but I don't know how... Could you give me some tricks, advices or specifications, please??? And do you know by any chance how much weight the wings can hold up?? Thanks in advance for your reply!!

Wings would have to be 3 times as long I think to hold up the weight of the average adult human.

cjt354 Actually, it was for the weight of the fabric... ^^' I want to use leather, but it's kinda heavy... I need to know if the mechanism is reliable enough to support it all if I make a 20 ft. wingspan with leather... Touchy eh? ^^'

melyxanXIV there is a light weight material that looks and feels like leather. check at the fabric stores.

melyxanXIV The answer is that Leather is very heavy and when it is offset from your back it really messes up you balance. I would recommend something lighter. Good luck. please post what you make I would be very interested. I have an instructable. It is not very good but here it is. www.instructables.com/id/Steampunk-Wings/

Really a well done project. Did you get the wings to flap back and forth at all? I have a couple ideas for that part myself, as well as changing a couple things in the main design like an electric accuator. I did look at the link you gave below to the instructables page, and you said you had another picture with all the measurements on it. Did you ever find that page? I really love this movement, and I'd like to scale it up for some angels I'm building for my Christmas nativity scene, and if you found that page, and you're willing to share it, that would save me a lot of time. In any case, keep up the great work.

+wjf213 I am glad you liked it. I went on to do the Steampunk version in the other videos and they turned out to be too heavy to flap. It makes you very unbalanced to have them that far behind you so I ended up pinning them in place at the moment. As for electric actuators I could never find any that were fast enough. The ones that could go fast were not strong and the strong ones were not fast. So if you find one I would love to know. As far as that page for sizes I have it in hard copy and am not sure where it is stored. I am moving so it may take a while before I can load it. If you want sizes take a snapshot while you can see all the wings and print it and the longest bar (outside vertical) is 33 inches and you can scale the rest of the wings off that. The wing frame I use in the other videos is bigger than this one. This video opens ten feet the Steampunk and Lego batman open 13 so i would recommend scaling off of them. Good luck I hope it works well for you.

I have had people in the past say they want some but the wings are not cheap so I have never actually made any. Without going and pricing everything you are looking between $3,000 and $5,000 for a fully automated set like this.

I would love too but the final version of these wings were a 1 off. To do it again would be over a $1000 each even with bulk prices. There are many wing tutorials. You can also check out my wings playlist for ideas. If you still want amazing animated wings I would check out The Crooked Feather she does production wings so the cost would be more affordable and I suck at feathers
