Sometimes I need her to get me up and about on a bad day. She's interesting to study. Like me she has ADHD and suffered for years. And she quit school. Actually her whole immediate family did. I'm going back to college "ole miss " for a bachelor's degree in english and eventually a master's.I wanted to go to university of Tennessee "vols" and play softball. But in our day. We as "girls were lazy" by Dr's and teachers. They weren't treating it in females. But I found my dreams again and strength from her story. I'm going to be a ole miss rebel. I thank Brandi Carlisle for following her path and not giving up. I don't usually go on forums. But I have to with her. I think more people should really study her. She's well worth it. She's the gram Parsons of today. And let's not leave out the twins who do most of the songwriting of the lyrics. But none fight over who did this, or how much. And she brings alot of the mystical experience because she's that girl. But it's not easy.I know what it's like. That wasn't me and hard way home are anthems for alot of us. God bless Brandi Carlisle on her journey❣🙋

I can’t begin to tell you how profound your words are and how they touch me....thank you!
[Verse 1] A love song was playing on the radio It made me kind of sad because it made me think of you And I wonder how you're doing but I wish I didn't care Because I gave you all I had and got the worst of you [Chorus] By the way, I forgive you After all, maybe I should thank you For giving me what I've found 'Cause without you around I've been doing just fine Except for any time I hear that song (ooh ooh) [Verse 2] Didn't it break your heart when you watched my smile fading Did it ever cross your mind that one day the tables would be turned They told me the best revenge would be a life well lived And the strongest one that holds would be the hardest one to earn [Chorus] By the way, I forgive you After all, maybe I should thank you For giving me what I've found 'Cause without you around I've been doing just fine Except for any time I hear that song (ooh ooh) Oh, any time I hear that song (ooh ooh) [Verse 3] When I woke up in the morning I was choking on some words There were things unsaid between us, there were things you never told Now that's twice you broke my heart now, the first was way back when And to know you're still unhappy only makes it break again [Chorus] By the way, I forgive you After all, maybe I should thank you For giving me what I've found 'Cause without you around I've been doing just fine By the way, I forgive you I never will, never will forget you For giving me what I've found 'Cause without you around I've been doing just fine Except for any time I hear that song (ooh ooh) Oh, any time I hear that song (ooh ooh) Oh, any time I hear that song (ooh ooh) Ooh, ooh, hmm

My ex husband and two oldest children's father hasn't spoken to us in years. The damage he did to us, to himself. I have no idea where he is or what his life is like but when "I hear that song" I hope he's turned it around. I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't go through all that mess. @@captainamerica6545 not necessarily.I didn't think I'd like it. My drummer kept telling me to listen to this. Because I'm picky lyrics. And I don't love everything she does. So I've listened to this 6 times now.And some 1 posted the lyrics. And I'm still deciding. But no matter what.I only have 3 woman singer-songwriters on my list. And she's second. And I'm loyal. She's not the main songwriter. And the story was written b4 she met the brothers.I believe we should all thank the universe that these 3 met. The world's a better place with them in it. So I say this with the up most respect and a answer to you'r rhetorcle question. No that's not exactly why I'm here.✌
So much love and admiration for Brandi. A living legend.

You have the most amazing voice….sometimes I listen and ….”how does she do that?” just pours out of my mind. And your spirit is so lovely. And your love and appreciation of Joni Mitchell just grabs at my heart strings. Joni is the fabric and soundtrack of my life (75 now). Such a part of me …..her music, her words, her strength, her attitude. All being reborn in you. Because your music touches me in a very similar way. God bless you sweetheart and may He give you abundance in your life and that of your family ❤️

Love Brandi. Love this song. The beginning of the chorus sounds a lot like the beginning chorus of traveling soldier by the Dixie chicks.
When people ask me if I enjoy country music I reply absolutely. Even though my roots in music are deep seated in 80/90's hip-hop and punk/grunge there will always be a love for all music. It's so difficult to hear a track like this and not be taken back to a time in our lives where we can share the feelings and emotions Brandi is sharing with us. Don't get me started on how awful pop country is though. :)

I relate to this so much. I am a huge fan of Kenny Rogers, Don Williams and Dolly Parton. A lot of modern country doesn't appeal to me as a black guy, but man country as a genre has some damn fine songs that hits you like a ton of bricks.

I believe one of the twins wrote a morbid song and it's rock/grunge,if you will. And she sings it.I think it's skulls and bones. But if that's wrong, it's close enough. They are twins but differ in there styly of writing. For what it's worth.🙋😉

@@danieliroh I Kid you not; whenever someone does not really like country. I find dolly parton and Kenny Rogers are their favorite in that genre👍.I personally like the 70'S country and some 90's.And eventually went to Appalachia folk and folk period. But I never liked the big commercialization of Dolly and kenny. But I'm a independent freak.I find it amazing that even though I don't like them. It still got you into some country music. And it's such a big part of America. And it all came from overseas be4 we knew it. Well done 🎻btw- Do you like Loretta Lynn and coal minors daughter? Because that's another 1,wen ppl dnt like country. They know who she is.And our southern gospel, stems from African Hyms. I am a Mississippi &Georgia raised, proud to have been raised in the new south.I know my history&still learning. And it tells me, we are all connected. It's touching. And I didn't even realize you were black till I got here to the end.I have lived in nyc for 6 years and I feel more connected to the south as I really miss it. I'm going back to finish my bachelor's at ole miss. And nyc can bring you to your knees if you are not grounded. But alot of great people here,in crown heights,Brooklyn.I have learned so much from people.
