I know this song is not really about dogs. I'm pretty sure it's about escapism after a relationship soured. But I still had a breakdown thinking about my dog while listening to it. He very likely has cancer but the vet recommended not operating because of his age. That line "Me and my dog and an Impossible view" had me bawling in my car in a strip mall parking lot.

I noticed this comment cuz you mentioned your age and at first I thought it may be a comment I made about boygenius (Phoebe Bridgers) because I too am 67 but female and love this band. LOL! I often wonder how many old people like me become fans of new musicians like boygenius. BTW, I saw Phoebe on an ASMR video w/ Itsblitzzz, and luckily one day decided to take Julias advice to listen to Phoebe Bridgers and loved her songs which led to boygenius. (Especially, Georgia, Emotional Motion Sickeness, and Kyoto!

Phoebe screaming the last part always makes me bawl my eyes out. Love, love, love this song. Instead, it's me and my cats and an impossible view.
I WANNA BE EMACIATED WANNA HEAR ONE SONG W/O THINKIN OF U!!!!!!!!!
The last two lines, especially the shattering vocal from Phoebe Bridgers to end the song sends shivers down my spine. So powerful. An absolutely amazing group of talented musicians and song writers.
My dog died 3 months ago, we used to listen this song because my ex gf left me and it was the only thing that used to keep me breathing, but now I can't stop thinking about how happy I was listen to Boygenius with my little dude 😥

This song is my dog's favorite. We would play this on repeat while I work and he sleeps/relaxes beside me. He passed away 2 years ago. And I always remember "we had a great day" because we really did have a great time together. When I miss him, I listen to this song.
Phoebe screaming gives me the goosebumps… you must be completely dead inside if you don’t feel nothing listening to it.

It really is otherworldly.
I love the way she rolls her eyes at the line "and you had a bad dream" - she is really reliving and seeing those memories in her mind as she sings. And then how painful it must be to dream about it all again. omggggg.

It's even better in the version from Late Night With Seth Meyers which I'm having a hard time finding lately. She has a slight but intentional vocal crack when she changes registers during scream but it makes that live version even better and more endearing and it fits perfectly actually.

This is the best recording of this song by far.
First exposure to Lucy Dacus was "I don't wanna be funny anymore". That was a revelatory experience, and with each successive song I've just been more and more impressed. All three members are such consistently good songwriters that you could pretty much put their discographies on shuffle and always land on a quality tune. That said, my introductions to Phoebe Bridgers were “Georgia” and “Motion Sickness”, and Julien Baker was “Something” and “Rejoice” (from her second album you should absolutely listen to “Appointments”, “Hurt Less”, and “Happy to be Here” too)

Julien Baker is the first one I found out of the group. My favorites from her first album are "Sprained Ankle", "Everybody Does" and "Go Home". On her second album, "Turn out the lights", "Appointments", and "everything to help you sleep" But all of her songs are incredible! She also has some unreleased stuff floating around on the internet like "Red Door" which I love! Julien's songs are actually the reason I made it through high school in one piece. I love Phoebe Bridgers too, especially "Would You Rather" and "Scott Street". Her songs are super hauntingly beautiful. They make me happy and sad at the same time.
