Watching these videos makes you realize how impressive Arcades were. They're like 5 years ahead of home console games graphics and gameplay wise in the early 80's. No wonder they were such popular places.
Fight night round 3 is a game changer.

They need to bring it back!!!
I've always been a huge fan of boxing games, so it took me by surprise how many boxing games were made pre 2000.
RIP Mills Lane (1937-2022) Boxing referee 🥊 Best known for MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch and Judge Mills Lane 😢😔🙏
I remember many kids crowding around Punchout at the Six Flags arcade in St. Louis in 1985. Graphics were fantastic for that era!
Lol Fight Night : Round 4 2009 on PS3 is more beautiful than "Undisputed" on PS5, wtf ?!
I literally screamed when I saw Final Blow. My best friend had it on Sega and we used to play it everytime with Shinobi. Man awesome memories

I always like the Buster Douglas boxing on Genesis which was basically Final Blow with Buster Douglas in it.

I had totally forgotten about Final Blow until this video.
The entire Punch Out series is the best boxing game series of all time.

it's crazy how much better the arcade original and Mike Tyson's Punch Out are compared to the rest of their time period. It's not even close in gameplay or graphics. Far and away the best.
Greatest heavyweights on SEGA was amazing. Had a blast playing that as a child
4:26 that is bear hugger from super punch out... had no idea about Frank Bruno's boxing game , but looks like they reused that character on SNES
Mike Tyson Punch Out on NES, Evander Holyfield Boxing on Sega Genesis, Knockout Kings on PlayStation are my favorites
Well nice compilation...but did we not forgot a boxing game right (?), that was a good seller and also have a VERY expensive Master System version. - James Buster Douglas Boxing (1990) - Sega Genesis
Holy crap, Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing is just a ripoff of ABC's Wide World of Sports at 7:19. You can even hear the same sounds from the Genesis game.
fight night round 3 is way ahead of its timee
What's awesome is that boxing until nowadays isn't forgot even with the arise of MMA, boxing will be always a great noble art!!
That Knockout Kings 2003 KO Was Disrespectful 😂😅
Ready 2 rumble on the 64 was so much fun with friends
Ring kings on the NES was by far my favorite boxing game back in the day!!!
Fight Night Round 3 was my favourite out of the lot, the total punch control with the right analogue stick was really fun and satisfying to box with. I see the newer version just have you flicking the analogue to perform a punch as opposed to FNR 2/3 where you had to input a certain input which imitates the punch you want to throw, very intuitive stuff. Plus, pulling off a haymaker by pulling back on the analogue before you follow through was amazing when it connected, especially from when you spring up from a crouching position after bobbing and weaving.

Yeah they really blew it by not making anymore of the fight night games, it was incredible.
what a brawl
The fact they didn’t release A boxing game on the PS4s whole life span pisses me off to no end. Now I was a ps5 and nope still nothing. I don’t count these crap vr gimmick games, or phone games.

The last game on the list is called Undisputed and it's in early access on PC. It should be coming to PS5/Series X/S relatively soon. Maybe later this year.
At 8:40 looked like ray mercer vs tommy gunn fucked him up
Punch out, Knockout kings and Fight Night 4ever
Ring King was a Masterpeice. Also loved Fight Night Round 2.

14:25 Boxing Legends Of The Ring was my JAM!!! Loved that game on my Genesis back in the day
I propose you today a video that traces the evolution of boxing games. Have you played all these games? Which one is your favorite? If you know of any other games not on this list, please mention them in the comments.

You should do a Halloween version of video games. Adventure on Atari, or earlier to start off. The monster games like Dracula, the Mummy. Anything that is Zombielike. Resident Evil comes to mind. Anything that has a flavor of say a haunted house experience. Thanks for the memories of all the games you have featured.

PUNCH MANIA : Fighting Mania (Punch mania 2 Hokoto no Ken)
Foreman had hella games lol
Oh gosh, when you look at the other games of their time Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out are MILES ahead in every conceivable way. My first boxing game was Fight Night for the Atari back in '85. Love seeing the games I grew up with. Stand outs being George Foreman KO and Final Kock-Out Boxing. Would love to see EA bring back Fight Night. They could license star boxers and also reach out to the KZreadrs and Influencers who've been selling PPV's as well. Might bring some eyes to it.

I completely agree with you. Those early games look so terrible, one realizes what an achievement Mike Tyson's Punch-Out was.
8:06 WTF was that All in Boxing???
1978 reminds me of the black kids fighting back in the day trying to look cool
Great video. Fight night round 1 was missing though

Buster Douglas for genesis too
Trip down memory lane. I remember punch out on NES, knockout kings on PS1, Holyfield on Genesis. Sad we haven't gotten a good proper boxing game since Fight Night Champion in 2011. Absolutely insane.

Undisputed's shaping up to be exactly that if they can fix the issues it currently has.
Boxing games are really tough 🥊
I just can't wait for esports boxing club
Being a 10 year old kid in the arcade seeing and playing heavyweight champ for the first time blew my mind. It can't really be done justice due to the specialized controls including the two handles you had to grab onto to throw a right and a left hand respectively. The first 4 punch outs were amazing (2 arcade, 1 nes, 1 superNes) and the first fight night was amazing because you really had to think your way through it, total punch control was really a game changer!!!
8:38 Uhhh.. I think that’s an actual murder. Ref should be banned from boxing FOREVER 😂😂
And still FN champion looks the best The ps1 version on Naseem boxing was missed here and that was a belter
punch out arcade 1983 was really the first playable boxing game. all the others around that time were just pixels hitting each other.
where is CREED Rise to Glory (2018) ?? Best VR boxing game
Title Fight blew me away when I saw it in arcades! It seemed to take everything Punch-Out!! started to the next level, even to the point of offering head to head gameplay!
I love that you do this you and VGL do your things when it comes to games of the consoles and genres thank you from 1980 so I enjoy seeing it all in gaming all Over again on these videos you’re the best
Final blow 1988 ahead of its time with amazing graphics
2:01 Sting like a bee, float like a tree.
4D Sports Boxing was revolutionary in 1990. A 3 dimensional game that used motion capture and allowed you to chose from about a dozen camera angles, including first person. You needed a really good PC for the time to play it smoothly.
Boxing games I played to death - 5:40-Mike Tyson Punch Out, 14:35-Greatest Heavyweights, 18:26-Ready 2 Rumble Round 2, 20:32-Knockout Kings 2001, 22:59- Fight Night 2004, and 25:56-Fight Night Round 4. Only one missing is PSP version of Fight Night 3, which played as much as Greatest Heavyweights.

Greatest Heavyweights is better than almost all the games that came after it
Those early Punch Out graphics are ahead of their time.
Let's see ... Yep, everyone gathered around Punch-Out in the arcades pre-Street Fighter days. "And in the red corner ... Baaaaaald Buuuuulllll." I remember playing the old Fight Night on the Apple II (or was it Apple IIgs?), and it was always a pain to deal with the special punches, like Hu Him's kick or the British Bulldog's 360 punch. The sounds were better on the Apple, but the play was very slow. I did like Boxing on the Gameboy, but the boxers tended to do a little Tokyo Drift out of nowhere. Final Blow in the arcades I could never get the hang of it. However, my favorite was the arcade version of Ring King. Spent over an hour in the arcade with one quarter, eventually realizing you had to defeat each boxer in the second circuit TEN times before meeting the World Champ. I liked the swaying and ducking. I also liked the special knockouts -- the straight punch into the ropes, the hook made the opponent do the helicopter spin, and the uppercut near the upper corners knocked them out of the ring. Good times.
It Must be great to be a 70's and 80's Gamer😅
I loved Mocap Boxing with them gloves
the jump from 82 to 83 was crazy. Think if games never progressed
Aaah man wow love it, some great classics
Let's get Ready to Rumble!- Michael Buffer 🥊💪
Wow its been a long time since a legit boxing game has come out.
"Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee!"
Fighting game and Boxing genre line up started in 1976 with Sega's Heavyweight Champ. not 1978. H.champ is the first Boxing game back in 1976.
"Let's Get It On"- Referee Mills Lane 🥊
After every evolution of graphics and technology we always hear that this is it. It can't get any better than this. In 1980 I was a little too young but I wonder what teens were saying back then with these @00:42 advanced ultra graphics...
You missed Boxing Mania Ashita no Joe (2001). Then again, I don't know if there's any direct footage left of it, either. Never did manage to beat that game.
Was waiting for this video to be done....thank you! 1. I never knew there was a Frank Bruno game, let alone multiple. LOL Also, never knew about Prince Naseem boxing game. 2. Favorite games are Mike Tyson's Punch Out (NES), Legends of the Ring (SNES) you had this titled incorrectly on your video as Final Knock-Out Boxing (maybe this is an international title of the game), Super Punch-Out (SNES), Knockout Kings 2002 (Xbox, also the one on N64), Fight Night Franchise (XBOX 360, Round 3 and Champion). Ring King on NES was always entertaining but pretty difficult. 3. Love that you included a 3DO game (Foes of Ali)....I have this game and it was impossible to knock anyone down. I would wail on the opponent repeatedly and they would just sit there taking it with zero health left but not go down. 4. It is crazy that we haven't got a really good console boxing game in over a decade. I'm assuming this has to do with the growing popularity of MMA vs boxing.

The Frank Bruno games were basically licensed unlicensed ports of Arcade SPO for Commodore systems.
Golden Gloves 1:07 Rocky Drago knockout
for people that like realism, Fight Night Round 3 for PS2 holds up better than most of the games that followed it....even the series' ones i still play it on PCSX2, it's amazing
We so need an updated version of Wii Sports Boxing.
It's amazing how much better the intellivision Boxing looks than the later Atari 2600 Boxing. Also amazing what a huge leap Punch Out!! was.
А почему на консолях последних поколений пропал симулятор fight night round?
You missed out Devastating Blow ; Release Date: 1991 ; Publisher: Beyond Belief this game was awesome.

Evander Holyfield Real deal boxing is underrated.
Punch out CHANGED THE GAME! I remember seeing it in the arcade and it blew my mind. What a great boxing game... it doesn't even look like it belongs in the 80's with the other boxing games lol. Ring king was so freaking fun! I used to knock my cousins out of the ring and he'd be pissed lol
Had so much fun playing Final Blow in a restaurant arcade in the early 90's.
my game @11:14 ...tears in my eyes. Thanks!
Arcade punch-out 1983 was my favorite boxing game.
とても貴重な映像ですね。ありがとうございます。
Why fight night still looks and feels the best out if all these newer boxing games 🤷🏿♂️
There are two boxing games you left out. "Punch Hero" (Was in mobile phone) and "Untitled Boxing Game" Roblox
I have to say Wade Dixons counterpunch is one of my faves… 🥊
I used to play RealSports Boxing on Atari, Legends of the Ring on SNES and Fight Night Round 2 and 3 on PS2. Fun times.
The Fight Night Series was awesome. EA Sports committed a crime by discontinuing it
Ring king was a fun arcade game
1:49 Rocky Super Action on Coleco Vision. One of my favs! You had to make sure you played it with the Super Action controller though.
16:41 Holy shit, I remember not only playing this, but also the huge Walkabout map. I thought I was the only one that remembered Lenny Loosejocks existed.
Man I actually played the Atari 2600 version! Spent hours at a 7/11 playing Punch Out. Went to the mall & played the Coleco Rocky game that was set up in a Best department store. One you get to Ring King, that’s my real era though. I can’t believe all the options we had back then & now, when technology is so much better, there aren’t any boxing games.
4d boxing was an epic!
I love how Final Blow on Amiga was such a good port that it was mentioned again after the arcade version had already been mentioned. Heavy Boxing was released on the MSX , Champion Boxing was an arcade original that got releases on SG-1000 and MSX and they weren't mentioned more than once :D Ring King was also an arcade original, and it had a better port on the MSX.
Time for a good boxing game again
This is going to make me sound insane but i've been trying to remember which boxing game I watched my older brother and cousin play as a 5 year old , I have hda the music in that game burned into my brain and at age 34 hadn't known which game I am thinking of until watching this video and learning it was 100% Foreman For Real 15:06 and i'm also stunend at how well I remember a tune I haven't heard in 29 years! Thanks for the thorough video!
0:45 similar to this but my game was called karate lol
What happened to that one which has been in development since forever? We sorely lack a boxing game.
golden gloves look like the pbs logos boxing.😂
あの時代にパンチアウトだけ出来が異次元だな……
Low Blow was an amazing game, way ahead of its time.
The second game looked more like it was Wing Chun 🤣
FIGHT NIGHT AND HBO BOXING
Ring king was my favorite boxing arcade so many quarters
No James Buster Douglas Boxing for Genesis! Damn!
I never knew Frank Bruno came out with punch out before Mike Tyson wow
golden gloves 1982, why there are rocky & drago ? the movie was made in 1985
Heavyweight champ released on October 1976 (original) and the remake on September 1987.
