Yeah the arcade games were always idk (1 to 2.5 times?) "console generations" ahead of the consoles most of us had in our houses. I went from Atari 2600, to NES; Super NES; Playstation 1 (I stopped seeing/playing arcade games before I owned A PS1 so Atari to SNES is the only time I can really speak for)

Sega Rally series was so much ahead of it's time. No wonder it was so popular.

I still play it today. The second part is amazing and with the right emulator you can even play it in 1080p and it does look great. Even force feedback and pedals work. Love to challenge my friends for the best time :)

@@amanjentayu2732 It was, and considering its age still is. Every arcade I visited in 00s had SR2 in it. In 2022, those would be terrible graphics. In 1999, those were cutting edge graphics.

Colin McRae rally 2.0 was so much ahead of it's competition that it looked on the PS1 better than some games did on the PS2 🔥 I can't even remember how many hours I spent with that game back in the day 👌🏼

oh yes, i have it on psx and it looks like a miracle, and plays like one. First Gran Turismo and first Colin McRae Rally showed that driving can feel natural in games, GT2 and CMR 2.0 achived some goddamn eternal prefection, and both have a perfect mix of fun arcade and demanding sim (i play loads or racing/rally sims, simcades and arcades but GT2 is still my favourite game, and CMR 2.0 still favourite rally)

Have you played McRae rally 2.0 on PS1 or just on emulators/PC? That footage looked mostly from emulator and not PS1 as resolution is totally wrong and there is no any graphical glitches which PS1 is famous of. I just kindly want say.. i disagree. But I want say McRae rally was very nice looking.. though i somehow myself did prefer the first one over second one when i did play on PS1 myself when little.

The fact, that Richard Burns Rally from 2004 is played by thousands of people today, shows, that the game is still a masterpiece. It's one of the best games I know - when it comes to the physics. It's simply amazing.

@@Flaggytwell 940 million (13% of the world) do not have access to electricity. but theres also people with gaming systems like PC, Xbox and Play Station so depending if he means active players and the RBR Steam group as 1998 members, that means there are still the console players and emulators. so theres still alot of players

Richard Burns Rally still rules !

PAC man rally was the absolute best game when it comes to sims. The physics and handling are so spot on and it is nothing short of a master piece and will always be remembered in gaming history as the best rally sim on the market right now. 10/10 bravo

Sega Rally?!?! Colin McRae Rally?!?! You bring me beautiful memories!

I remember playing video games for the first time on my friend's odyssey. It was mind blowing. Then I played video games on Commodore 64 and I was like wow mind blowing. I grew up video games and home PC. It was recently I notice have not had WOW mind blowing moment. VR has the wow factor, but I am referring to consoles and computer. I was fortunate to be WOWED so many times I could not count. The 1980s had numerous wow factors. I am thankful to see the birthing of vide games and PC and the maturing process. Now my wow factor is my age and how fast it was. Time is like a train one does not know how fast it is going till it hits you. Lyle C Rollings III

Dirty rally is the only modern rally game that compares favourably. Preferred that to dr2.

It is even better today. The free version on RallySimFans has tons of mods and updates included. Even vr support.

1988 lobard RAC was the first real rally game, looks pretty good! Very authentic

I remember the sheer joy of landing the prize money and upgrading the engine, gearbox, lights etc was utterly superb! Great times!

Sega Rally was awesome, that's the first one I remember

I love the one with the crunch. Even you bite down the crime hardly stops for once.

I spent tons of hours playing Top Gear Rally on N64. To this day that game still has one of the best paint booths I've ever used.

Rallisport 1 and 2 were absolutely beautiful for their time period.

As someone who loves rally games, I've learned that there are a lot of games I don't know. Great video congratulations.

That's a fantastic compilation thanks for putting it together. You brought back so many happy memories of so many wasted hours.

Oh, dear God. I remember playing the first one. Damn, I'm old.

Couple of errors here. Firstly, that wasn't the Amiga version of stunt car Racer. Looked like the spectrum version. Screamer 2 was a home computer game and as far as I'm aware was never in the Arcades. Great compilation thanks!

Управление, графика, повреждения для тех времен были просто космос!!! Ни у кого в те времена не было ничего подобного!!!! Надо бы попробовать в новые ралли сыграть на PS5!!!

I played Lombard RAC Rally on my Atari ST when it came out. That makes me feel old! Also still got the ST and it works.

Rally Championship 2000 was far ahead of it's time, just like Drive Club was years later

I remember being absolutely blown away by Lombard RAC Rally.

Sega Rally 2, people jumping outa the way group b rally style lol memories!!

I started gaming in 1996, I feel like that was the perfect time and I'm happy I got to experience the evolution of gaming to what it is today.

The jump from other games of the time to Sega Rally in 1995 would be like going from today's games to just living in the Matrix and not knowing you're in a simulation.

for me, WRC RALLY EVOLVED is the best game Rally Ever under 2010... because, if we look at the graphics and gameplay, this game is as real as the original... and for the year, this game is the best and I'm lucky to have played it and it even became my first game about rally games

It's amazing how fast games advanced from the start of the 80s to the end of the 90s. But from 2000 to now it has all slowed down, only graphics have changed.

Test Drive for Commodore 64, Pole Position for arcade, RC Pro-Am, Rad racer for NES to name a few of my old school faves

Holy crap... I recognize graphics and gameplay of these early rally games by the fact that they inspired so many flash racing games I used to play back in 2011-2013...

Q Network RAC was super fun. Time changes in 1998. Colin McRae Rally was released and it was such a good sim.

Q Network RAC was one of the most fun racing games I've played back in the 99s!! The soundtrack also had no business slapping that hard!!!

You forgot “Paris Dakar 90” in 1990 on MSDOS. I remember Lombard Rally to be the first rally game more than a racing game. And Colin McRae was the first game with advanced physics that were pretty impressive for its time.

1994 saga takes it to new level

Lombard Rac Rally (1988) looks genuinely impressive for its time. It is the first game on the list that resembles real rallying.

I just so happened was trying to remember a rally game I used to love back in the early 2000's and I remembered this video so I went through it and sure enough, you listed the two games. Xpand Rally/Xtreme omg I used to love those games. Installing now and hopefully they run on modern hardware/systems!

You forgot Network Q RAC Rally from 1993!

Those isometric games are usually a PITA to control, but 1993’s World Rally Championship looks like an exception, especially since they nailed the drift mechanic. It’s usually a genre I avoid but I’d love to try that one. Neo-Geo devs were brilliant!

When I started collecting arcade games World Rally Championship was one of my grails. I ended up getting a couple of them because they were cheap. Way underrated. I also bought world rally championship 2 and Mille miglia : great 100 miles rally. It's nearly the same game with vintage cars. I also bought Mille miglia 2. Its similar, but it is more zoomed in and has a lot more voice. The original is actually better. 2 is a little claustrophobic.

It shows how much progress has slowed when the games from the early 200x still look decent. Edit: so if you compare 1990 with 2000 it’s a masive jump up, but 2000 to 2010 is nothing like big, and 2010 to 2020 is smaller still.

1994 is when things started really changing. So many memories here

My favourite of all time is Sega Rally absolutely delightful game

Used to play that super off road loads on nes/snes at my friend's had no idea what it was called until this jogged my memory

Everyone who complains today that the games are not enough simulation or don't look realistic should watch this. I lived through this times and played many of these games. And at the time we were stoked to have them.

Richard burns rally looks amazing for 2004. Good artists must have made that!

Being a life-long "gamer," I appreciate this 'PINOCCHIO' video. I am currently perusing it/viewing it -- not so much for 'nostalgic' reasons as much as information regarding good rally games (from say about 2000-present date) that I can either buy or download for my Windows laptop... Racing games are one of my favorite genres of PC games -- have been since the 80s when I first got into gaming... "Rally racing" is a genre of real life and also PC racing that is quite distinct from most other types of racing and in some ways is the most challenging and difficult of any type of racing sim that exists...in some ways it is simultaneously the 'funnest'... I have tried some of these racing games' "demos" -featured in this video- in the past as well as full-version games. In my opinion, and perhaps the opinions of many others as well -- no "Rally Racing game" I have yet so far ever downloaded or owned comes remotely close to the realism, fun, and difficulty level of "Richard Burns Rally." When it came out in 2004, it was by far the best, hardest, and most realistic Rally game ever...as far as I can tell it still probably is 18 years later. The blokes at "Warthog games" are geniuses for coming out with such an amazing simulation... I have recently downloaded several handfuls, no less, of other full version Rally Racing PC games from sites like Abandonware (i.e., Colin McRae Rally, V-Rally, Xpand Rally, and many others) and none of them remotely compare to the realism, graphics, driving physics, etc. of Richard Burns Rally. Richard Burns Rally is also a 'bitch': It's BY FAR the most complicated PC Rally racing game ever made that I know of to learn to set up all correct and many configurations in the main menus -- and also to get the game 'drivable' at least with the keyboard...

Everyone has their favorite, but when i played Sega Rally Championship with responding steeringwheel my soul was sold. I know a place where it still exists and time to time i have to go there and play few rounds.

Network Q RAC rally from 1996 often gets overlooked, it’s good!

I really loved to play RALLY and RALLY X and also BUMP N JUMP when I was 8 and 9 years old. I am Japanese.

The Network Q RAC Rally Championship was for me the first rally game on PC. At certain spots of the game I was getting only 15 frames/s, but it was great back then. Also "Screamer" PC version was great fun. Colin McRae Rally on PS1 was fun to play. Thanks nice compilation.

This channel is much better than Game Evolutions, since it (mostly) shows every game in their correct aspect ratio and native resolutions. Game Evolutions stretches everything out to 16:9 and shows older consoles games in 4k, which is deceptive.

I lost months of my life to Network Q RAC Rally on Pc. Still love the style of it today

@@VGE no successor unfortunately no... but RBR has been continuously worked on by the community for almost two decades now, the ngp7 physics takes it to another level and as far as graphics goes, some of the new mod stages released lately look absolutely stunning! it has turned into a work of art at this point, i think RBR 2022/23 version deserves its own mention as an independent simm.

Came here hoping a game I only had a very blurry memory of would be on the list. I remember playing a free demo of it on my dad's PC as a kid, remembered it being called X-treme Rally or something like that... Turns out it was Xpand Rally! Apparently it did well enough to get a sequel. Might as well revisit it now that I know the name.

Soft spot for Mobil 1 British Rally Championship (called Rally Championship 2000 in the vid) as it was my first (and, you know, you never forget your first ;)) but it's a close tie for me between Rallisport Challenge 2 and Dirt Rally 2.
