    that "fitness guy" you're referring to is nate bower, he is a former golden glove champion, and they're just drilling and keep things minimal so no need for footwork and all that because he just needs his feet to position himself for striking JT

    This is such a valuable video and great points made, I have been boxing at a high level and mauy thai for 20 years now and never see all the new wave MMA etc in the gyms doing these basic drills for defence, its one thing coming forward but taking punches/pressure, learning to be relax and have balance is one of the largest skillets i feel not taught or practiced, it makes so much difference in sparing, i do this drill for at least three rounds in the ring eery session weather thai or boxing, JT and his partner here show a very good example of invaluable skill set learning and practices, all his videos are extremely good, subscribe people.

    a good thing to do is to focus on shoulder movement

  • @aazadmuhammad4643

    @aazadmuhammad4643

    5 жыл бұрын

    What he means is It’s natural for any fighter to flinch for ard 0.5 to 1 sec before throwing a punch or a kick. For boxers, focusing on shoulder movements is basically knowing which hand your opponent might eventually throw by reading them leaning on which shoulder (left or right) It may be too much to focus on, so it’s best to practice this with your sparring partner. Whatever he did in this video is a perfect example. Letting the guy with the advantage in terms of reach and height be the offensive fighter & him just focusing on his partner. Shoulder movement works efficiently for slips & weaving.

    Coach, what is the best place to keep your eyes during sparring? Do you keep them fixated on a certain spot on the opponent? Or just forward in general? Lately I’ve found when I have an opponent come In with a flurry, sometimes I’m shelling up and looking down or low and sort of clam into an ineffective defense. Tend to do it more with nervy, aggressive opponents... any advice would help.

    Hey man, I was wondering if I could get some advice. So basically, my coaches have been bringing in different fighters to help prepare me for my first mma fight. The issue with one of the guys that they brought in, is that this man is a straight up brawler. He's very pressure heavy, and can eat knockout shots like a snack. I tried cutting angles, but he's very explosive so he just cut me off. When I used head movement, he has a way of following you that I've never seen before. When I tried to just cover and counter punch, he hit like a freight train, so I even though I blocked his shots and fed him some really decent shots, I felt every single one. I've never felt in so much danger since I first started fighting. What would I do in that situation? I need help...
