You make a very good point in the first minute of the video that really resonated with me, it's all about focus. This really goes for everything in life, martial arts, education, relationships, you name it. It's not something your teacher or coach can just give you, it has to come from within. Are you really focused on learning when you're at practice, or is your mind drifting off somewhere else? You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Great content coach, keep it up.

Focus is great. That's why I don't like people talking to me at the gym too much. Makes me angry even. They don't understand some people like to focus hard. Bro....I be feeling like I'm the only one there just jabbing. Love it! Hope you enjoy your focus!
That statement you made, that learning happens overnight, is POWERFUL and physiologically accurate. Even if we don't feel we're improving right away, it's important that we stay paying attention so that when the stars line up the information clicks for us. It's important not to get frustrated and let that stop us from learning.

For sure. Sometime you're on a plateau for months or more when nothing is changing or improving. Then one day you're suddenly 30% better and all that prep work on the plateau was there for a reason while your brain and body were figuring things out.

This is 2 years later but Coach, everything you put out there is sooo valuable, and makes so much sense. I love how you present your lessons in stepwise order, building blocks on the way to the next step. Wish you were my coach. Thanks as always.

Please do more kinds of these videos, This is literally the exact thing i need to work on. Great video i will defo be trying it out. Thank you
These 2 trained me for 4 years thru this channel then I actually found a local boxing gym! You gotta love the sweet science
Wow he’s so fluid on the defence
Ahh Nate and JT sharing space! Lol, you guys are great. Seriously, both tremendous teachers, personalities and talent. I've learned a ton from you both and still having a great time. Thanks gentlemen.
This is a drill I do a lot with people who train with me. But seeing two pros like you and Nate perform it, I can always get something more out of it. The one thing I'll tell my partners to do is: you're not just feeding punches; this is also a time for you to focus on throwing yours correctly, while I focus on blocking. Or vice versa when we switch roles. That way the one throwing the punches doesn't feel like they're wasting their time. They can focus on their footwork, their chin, their guard, etc. Nate did a perfect job being a realistic opponent for you. You guys are great!
This was pretty cool. He was putting a little on it to

Best timing in history. I was looking for this yesterday and today you hit us with this. My bro catching hands in sparring now even worse lmao
My man! You are gold mine of knowledge. I enjoy seeing your channel grow, the editing and production value going up. I hope this is worth you while, because we are not worthy 😉 I've been and on and off follower for years. Much respect and love. Keep up the good work!

Thx for your support Bilal
This works great for people that shut their eyes. It also works well to develop an awareness of how to change backing up to working an angle. I used to "Slip right into a punch" more often. This drill makes it less painful when I'm with a few of my sparring partners.
The best coach i saw in my life
Excellent video, 10/10
You two are the best boxing coaches here on KZread! Both have helped me so much with my training.
This is awesome. You could also try this with the latest virtual sparring video you just released. Keep up the good work sir
I would think that an important part of this drill is to become comfortable with getting hit when you get hit without constantly flinching and closing your eyes.

I love his control. That's someone everyone must be happy to work with
Everyone can use a friend like Nate during training. Great content as usual!
My man you are an excellent teacher I learn so much from watching precision striking you simplify seemingly complicated moves and give your watchers great info
You're pure Gold, Coach.... 🥊🥊🥊
Some simple techniques in there 👍🏻. The all round movement is where anyone wanting learn needs to be, so as you showed, good boxing stance, subtle head mvt, hands high to parry (and not reaching, but touching their glove only), slipping and rolling and fundamental to it all, footwork. Just keep them moving whist doing the rest, and relax. Novices should shadow as much as possible outside of the gym sessions. Good video.
You are too nice with the slipping and weaving!! 🔥
Love the vids, always excellent advice. Can I make a suggestion that the cameraman move back a little? Hard to watch your footwork which I really like. Cheers!
Excellent information. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insight.

I like how the camera moves through the drill to give different looks, BUT I hate how much it moves while he's explaining things. The focus is constantly shifting. Thanks for the drills. Love the content.
best clip I've seen for ages
his guest has one of the smoothest jabs i have ever seen... when i'm training, i see his jab in my head and try to figure it out...
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I learned a lot from all your Videos!👍🏼 Much love from Hamburg/Germany.. 💥👊🏼
Beautiful....great breakdown and coaching. This guy got great technique
THIS is one of the best ways I’ve learned how to defend in the past. Letting someone spar you while not throwing back helps a lot more than people would imagine
@drjonesey5

Well yeah, it teaches you to slip punches which is valuable for both boxers and in situations where you may have to do self defense. Getting comfortable punching at someone and getting punched at is a thing the average person doesn't think about. Some people go their whole life never having to fight so assume they'll just punch a guy hahaha when angry one day and knock them out which is why the average person either A-throws a ridiculous weak punch B-Head hunts trying to punch heads all day and miss when angry C-Throws haymakers, overhand rights and wild punches in fights. You literally can jab the average person down without issue if you know how to fight. Learn Boxing and some Wrestling or Jujitsu and you're good. Can subdue people properly and evade punches while dishing them out if you need to.
It's a pretty simple and great approach. Just simply practice, practice, and practice. Having someone work with you in them punching and you trying out your defence and different approaches. The hard part for most is finding someone that will be your drill partner. Unless, they know someone with the same interist around them, and sees the genious in this approach.
Great video. I’m new to boxing and working on my defense. This is really helpful to watch. Thanks 🙏
Thank you both. Gonna work this today!
Straight up coach you a beast
Really nice to see you fellows collaborating together. These drills are awesome im 58 and started taking boxing a few years ago and you are correct about getting hit. YOU MUST GEY HIT TO LEARN. It takes time to be comfortable sparing and being hit by your sparing partner. Very nicely explained 👏. Thank you Gentlemen from Toronto, Canada.

Really good and helpful drill! Thanks!
I appreciate the coaching. Both of you are excellent. Keep it coming.
Good tips, goog long reach partner. One thing, I do different : I include single shots on my (defending)side, whenever the partner gets close BEFORE punching. Otherwise, there is an unrealistic distance, that one shouldn't allow in real sparring. On the other hand ( pun not intended ), it teaches me to keep "closed" after my attack.
