Eshika I'm of the minority that didn't like Queen of Shadows. Personally I don't think the Aelin name change was handled well, Aelin to me is a completely different character from Celaena and there is only a two week difference between when we last saw her as Celaena so I don't believe a character can change that fast. Also I'm of the even smaller minority that didn't like ACOTAR. For me, this is mainly my own fault, since I don't like novels based around romance, but I found Tamlin possessive and overprotective, and I'm a third of the way through A Court of Mist and Fury and my point stands. The only character I actually like in this series is Rhysand, but since he's only a serious love interest contender in ACOMAF, I'm guessing Feyre won't end up with him. And lastly, while Sarah's writing style and technique is truly stellar, her weak point is her characters. When I compare Feyre or Celaena to other fantasy heroes (and anti-heroes) such as Locke (The Lies of Locke Lamora), Irene (The Invisible Library) and Lyra (His Dark Materials), they pale in comparison. Sarah J. Maas hasn't quite grasped the idea that the story could be driven by the characters and that anti-heroes are often much more interesting than heroes. For me, Feyre and Aelin are Mary Sues that aren't as interesting to read about as the aforementioned characters (but then again, I am a person who loves anti-heroes, so I'm probably a bit biased).

I think that the Aelin name change was symbolic, like she's started anew as another version of herself in a new book. I thought the great leap in her personality was because she finally accepted her roots, which she'd been resenting for so long. I thought of that as the turning point. I guess agree to disagree. I am part of the majority that liked Queen of Shadows, but there were parts of it that I didn't however. Chaol's attitude got old fast and I wasn't a very big fan of RowanxAelin. At the start I found it a bit odd that Aelin was suddenly an amazing military strategist, but I guess it was probably something she learned as an assassin. Haven't read ACOTAR yet so I don't have an opinion there. I've never really tried to compare her to anyone so for me she's never seemed like that. I haven't read those books but they sound interesting, there differently on my tbr. If you like anti-heroes/dark characters I recommend "The Young Elites" by Marie Lu. It's a fantasy novel/series (haven't read the 2nd one tho) where (imo) there is no true evil or true good. I have to agree there's something very interesting about a anti-hero. tl;dr: I disagree on the Aelin name thing, I like Queen of Shadows despite a few things, haven't read ACOTAR, I've never compared Aelin to anyone, I recommend "The Young Elites" by Marie Lu if you like anti-heroes/dark stuff, and I gotta agree anti-heroes are cool af.

You should carry on reading acotar if you like Rhysand. No spoilers but... you're wrong about not thinking she could end up with him. However like throne of glass series it does still have it's flaws like you said

I really didn't like Throne of Glass and then I didn't really like Crown of Midnight either but then Heir of Fire was just SO EPIC!!! And then Queen of Shadows blew my mind again, so if you're willing to push through the first too it is definitely 100% worth it :D

I have read the Throne of Glass series and it is probably the best series I've read in a really long time. I haven't read ACOTAR, but I think I might because Sarah J. Maas is such an AMAZING author!

Yes! Oh my god, ACOMAF for me 1/4 through of the book and it was already 100x better than the first book. I liked ACOTAR but I absolutely fell inlove with ACOMAF, that book is a literary masterpiece.

She loves Sirius Black too!! He was always one of my favourite characters in the books and I feel like people don’t understand why... but she gets it!! Love her!
