Book of 1 Thessalonians Summary: A Complete Animated Overview

Watch our overview video on 1 Thessalonians, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul directs the persecuted Thessalonian Christians to hope in the future of king Jesus' return who will make all things right.

@@xanderdupont3270 it’s hard to comprehend but Jesus is God. We praise Jesus because Jesus is a representation of God. Plus, to get into heaven, we have to recognize Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Christians don’t believe in greek gods btw.

@@xanderdupont3270 We believe in the holy Trinity, which includes God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus. The reason that we don’t praise three gods and instead we praise one, is because we believe that these are all representations of God, ex. Jesus was God in Human Form, and the Spirit is God in a Spirit, this is why we have our conscience and guilt feelings when we do something not Christ-Like, God is convicting us and helping us to change our ways to reflect him better. Overall, there are gonna be a lot of things we aren’t going to understand, however Gods reasoning for this is the fact that Gods requires one thing from us. That’s Faith, we must believe without seeing and Trust that he has everything in the palm of his hand and under control.

Right now, just pray, talk to God because he is your father and listens to every word you say. Humble yourself knowing that you need him desperately because you need a Savior. I need you to understand how sinful you are. And how God erases all that sin if you just develop a relationship with him, that all God wants from you. I can’t help but think how this story mirrors the current challenges we Disciples of Jesus face today. We live in a world of rampant sexual deviancy and injustice to the poor. If you try to proclaim Jesus’ teachings you are “cancelled” or considered weird and old fashioned. The messages of the call to holiness, love and hope are so needed in the world in my heart! Thanks be to God for the Bible Project and clearing explaining this message. It encourages me to read Thessalonians afresh. May God continue to bless your ministry!

If you get the gist of what is happening in 1 Thess, it's not cute at all and should be taken this way. They were PISSED and wanted revenge for "those who had fallen asleep" those who were murdered is more accurate, these were their friends who martyred and Paul was warning them to not lash back and let God repay because 70AD was coming (they could not see that but we do) where Jesus would come on the cloud of Judgment and the souls of those dead would be with them as would the imprecatory prayers of those still living at the time. Context context context.

Hi bible project. I like your summary. It's very detailed. Thanks for all the hard work that you do on a daily basis to bring us this projects about our Creator and His teachings. The only thing I notice is that towards the end there was a contradiction of Christ's kingdom. You stated that Christ will establish an earthly kingdom, which is not biblical, and then you said that He already started a kingdom. You got the latter right. That kingdom that He started in Acts 2 is the everlasting kingdom. Hebrews 12:28. We have already received His kingdom so when he appears again it will be the end, judgement day. Chapter 4 states that we who are alive will meet Him in the air, that's when he delivers his Church which is His kingdom to His Father 1 Corinthians 15:24. We always have to remember to see His kingdom as a heavenly kingdom not an earthly kingdom John 18:36. Christ already finished his work here on earth John 17:4. The bible doesn't contradict itself. Hebrew 9:28 states that when he appears again it will have no relation with sin. He conquered sin at the cross. Common sense tells us that. Please think for heavenly bound when He appears again. Philippians 3:18-21. God bless you all

This was nearly 2000 years ago and Paul speaks in terms of * My brothers and sisters * A husband should respect his wife and a wife do the same * dont concern yourself with revenge and show love instead It amazes me that nearly 2000 years ago, Paul was directing his message of love and Christ to both men and woman, that was absolutely unheard of at the time. It would be 1800 years later before important messages were directed at " My Brothers and Sisters ". What a wonderful letter Paul. God bless❤✝️❤

@the bible project, It appears to me in my esv and kjv version that verse 7 refers that Paul was treating them as children instead of being treated. Look at verse 6. It gives the opposite to how brash the apostles could have acted but they were gentle (v7) Or look at verse 8 we were willing to share with you not only the gospel. And the intention stated is at verse 7, which is because they had love towards this church instead of because this church loved them and they in return treated them well. Hope this helps

ISAIAH 52 - 1 THESSALONIANS “For you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight; for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 52:12) WORDS BY: JESUS "Rapture or no rapture? It’s not a matter of whether or not it is real; for to some I will say it is and to others I will say it is not. It all depends if you view it as I do. If you view it as being taken away from the Earth while darkness covers the Earth, then you have missed the purpose of the kingdom of God and the things which you are preparing for. You have missed the purpose of Isaiah 60 and the promise of the manifested sons who will reveal the glory in dark times. My interpretation of My coming is not understood by many. You will not go out with haste nor by flight as many expect. My coming must first come through My people. Then they will be a light in a dark place. Yes there will be darkness on the Earth and deep darkness the people, but the glory that comes through that time is far more powerful than the darkness that will soon come. So rapture or no rapture is not your concern. Your concern should be whether or not you are prepared or preparing for My revealing. Will you be found worthy to carry My glory? It will not come to those who lived for themselves but only those who were faithful to Me with the times that were given to them. Understanding the times and the seasons is important, but what’s more important than this is being ready in and out of season. I will come at an hour you do not expect so do not waste your life so carelessly with the attitude of indifference less you be found sleeping when I come. Be sober and vigilant when times seem least important; for such people will be found ready and worthy to carry My presence. I will then go before you, I will arise over you, I will be your rear guard and My glory will be seen upon you."

I appreciate the clarity of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, which leaves no room for doubt about the condition of the deceased. Verse 13 explicitly describes them as being in a state of "sleep," indicating their lack of awareness, countering some teachings that suggest the departed souls are aware of the living. Furthermore, verse 16 emphasizes the resurrection of the dead in Christ, challenging the notion of their presence in heaven, as their resurrection occurs from the ground rather than being in the clouds with Jesus. This passage unmistakably highlights that we are living souls, not possessors of souls, and that upon death, we remain unconscious, awaiting Jesus' second coming here on Earth.
