You have to pay a nonresident tax rate if you don't live where you work. It's one of the first questions on the tax form. I haven't done my taxes in years, but prior to that, I used to help people with their EZ's for a small fee, which used to be legal for anyone, as long as you were just assisting and not signing on their behalf or giving them advice.

I think both Caleb and Boogie could have been more professional. What was the point of Caleb bringing up Boogie's current relationship at 28:20 in this video? I know your income tax bracket might change after marriage, but Caleb didn't even mention this. It seems like Caleb was trying to farm some juicy dirt on Boogie while masking it as concern for his partner's future wellbeing, and the title of his video doesn't really convince me otherwise. That being said, it would be unfair of me to not point out that Boogie did also spend way too much time trying to correct Caleb on why he was in financial turmoil rather than trying to come up with solutions.

I used to live in a house. Trying to keep it livable literally bankrupted me. I was going in to at least 2k in debt every year I lived there. Simply moving into an apartment saved me enough money to claw myself out of debt. Also having to pay for the pleasure of breaking frozen sewage so I can repair a septic line in the middle of a blizzard so my house doesn't flood, really put a lot in perspective. A house can definitely be a good decision but you need to be realistic & objective about it. If your living there it's not really an investment & most investment vehicles don't have these huge maintenance fees & you don't have to shovel frozen sh*t for it. Also paying more than a 100 USD for a dog is insane. There is a shelter in every city in every county with plenty of needy animals. Make a budget & stick to it kids.

Ask most people with a drug addiction how they could improve their lives and theyd know how. The execution is the hard part- the understanding is far more trivial imo (obviously some people struggle with that too). Old cars go up in value, not down. As long as you are specific about the type of car/truck you buy. BUT. I spend a lot of time and money fixing issues as they come up. Sometimes multiple days. What if I used that time/money for a more lucrative purpose? If I just leased a car I didn't have to mess with, and then never had to think about it...theoretically, I could be more productive. The most smart way to use your home is to get a HELOC and have it as a “credit card” in case of EXTREME emergencies like losing your job for a few months. He's right in that you should really be using the equity in your home as an asset you can take debt on for credit towards other (productive) assets (aka investments). But he was hardcore coping about the rent thing. If you can afford a mortgage, that is almost always the better decision. He doesn't want to have to worry about maintenance and such, which, if you're willing to pay a premium of sorts to pay for not having to worry about that, then that's fine, but acting like it's often the better financial decision is almost always wrong. The big caveat kinda comes with mortgage rates, but assuming they come down to somewhat manageable levels, then yeah a mortgage is the better decision.

@@winstonwolf6791 now you're coping lol. Even if you don't put down 20% you can get an FHA loan and wipe out your pmi entirely, and you'll still pay less than whatever a landlord is going to cost, all else equal. You can even get a mortgage on an apartment and you'll 100% beat out whatever a landlord will offer you, so long as you lock-in a low rate. Renting exists for people who have the worst credit and can't qualify for any kind of loan ever, or young people who want to move around a lot. But it's not better financial sense bro. Also, if you can't afford the 20% down, then sure, you should probably be renting. But that's out of necessity not out of financial sense. The moment you can afford the 20% you're jumping ship. And if you can't afford the 20% down, you need to move or get a better job or get skills to get that better job. I've seen this 1000 times, where someone buys a house, then refinances for other investments and builds generational wealth from nothing. Acting like this doesn't happen is weapons-grade copium.

Nearly every financial advisor in the world will tell you owning a home is a far better option and yet you and Destiny both for some reason have the hubris to think otherwise. Let's put it like this: whether you're renting or buying you have to pay for shelter, that's a guarantee. So you can pay $1200/mo in rent of which you will never see a single penny of that money again, it's all gone. Or you could pay $1600 for a mortgage which has the higher monthly cost but comes with the massive benefit of owning one of the most secure investments in the world that will continue to appreciate in value. As a bonus on top, if you do fall on hard times your mortgage is much more secure than your apartment because the bank can't start foreclosing on you for being late for 5 days and they're much more likely to work with you while you get back up to speed.

Seeing boogie reminds me of my passed. Spends his whole time looking inwards to why everything went sideways without actually doing stuff. At the end of the day you gota ignore the really bad stuff and keep moving forwards. My biggest mistake was after I broke up I did nothing for a year and a half. Never let big downs get to me again and im in the best place iv been after essentially "manning up"

No, Destiny was right. No one can pull Boogie out of his spiral because it's actually currently beneficial to Boogie. Boogie is in his best place now. He's made a career off of being a lolcow loser and is in his most comfortable state right now. Boogie will only change when the incentives are no longer rewarding him for being what he is.

Growing up poor is what made me think buying a home is a waste of money. I grew up living in apartments that ended up having soo many problems needing to be fixed and hearing my parents talking about wanting to buy a house. I always thought, what if these issues happen in your house?? You cant just just and move like you can when renting. I rather not stress about things i cant personally fix

I dunno. There is one thing they aren't making any more of. Land. And yes, a house can be an expenditure. And have things that need to be fixed. But you can also just find unrestricted land, throw a shed on it, finish it out, and have a tiny home that cost you 20k. On land. That you own. Sure, there are taxes and stuff...but you can limit them and the overall cost of repairs in a few ways. And land, in the long run, will always go up in value. Let me put a caveat here, IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Land in/near a flood plane...hazardous area...chemical plant or something...can definitely go down. But generally, it always goes up.

Yeah, not true. My boss told everyone he could back when bitcoin was at 1000 dollars per. Dude probably made over 300k off of a 5k investment. He pulled his initial money out then played it like a stock market. I didn't have 5k to invest. One of my coworkers bought 100 dollars worth at that time. What is it 45k per now? So if he has 1/10th of a bitcoin...it went from 100 dollars to 4500 dollars? I think that's right. Jesus, I am dumb. 😂

Boogie: "I have a budget of 300 dollars a month for food" "I spend an average of 15 dollars every day on food" I think he meant 15 dollars eating out daily plus 300 dollars a month on groceries... A total of ~$750 monthly (And the 15 ended up being closer to 30 including coffee and shit for a total of 1200 if that's what he meant) Note: I thought this a lot but a cursory Google says a family of three on average spends ~$900 monthly...
