THE VALUE OF THIS VIDEO:
THE MAIN VALUE IS EDUCATION. This reconstruction will be useful for actual or future air traffic controllers and pilots, people who plan to connect life with aviation, who like aviation. With help of this video reconstruction you’ll learn how to use radiotelephony rules, Aviation English language and general English language (for people whose native language is not English) in situation in flight, which was shown. THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVERY WORD AND EVERY MOVE OF AIRCRAFT.
SOURCES OF MATERIAL, LICENSES AND PERMISSIONS:
Source of communications - www.liveatc.net/ (I have a permission (Letter) for commercial use of radio communications from LiveATC.net).
Map, aerial pictures (License (ODbL) ©OpenStreetMap -www.openstreetmap.org/copyrig...) Permission for commercial use, royalty-free use.
Radar screen (In new versions of videos) - Made by author.
Text version of communication - Made by Author.
Video editing - Made by author.
HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

When I saw the news that in my own country, a bomb threat aircraft landed, my first thing was to check the ATC audio. I was shocked to hear how many times the ground changed where they need to go, the stairs and everything. I would have expected that as soon as they knew (which should have been way earlier than the aircraft landing) that an emergency with bomb threat is coming in for landing, move everything as close as possible there and as soon as they landed evacute everyone via the stairs. But no, they failed to do this.

Glad I will never have to fly into that airport ever again. Completely unprepared on the ground and controllers did a horrible job as well. The Captain kept his cool, but you could hear the stress in his voice upon landing....he wanted to get everyone out immediately. I could not believe my ears when the controller said "you will have to taxi into the stand". What is it about possible BOMB that he didn't understand? Bring the aircraft closer to the terminal? Are you kidding me? I hate to jump to conclusions with a few minutes' clip of the comm's, but I can't imagine that we missed a comm where the Captain said "never mind the threat".

Hungarian ground services at their best. Looks like there simply isn't a standard procedure to handle bomb threat aircrafts. Ground handling often can't even make it with the stairs to the scheduled flights, nor to an aircraft that is out of the ordinary routines... Good thing they decided not to wait...

To anyone wondering... As a Hungarian I had to fly to this airport countless times. And yes, it's as bad as it seems. Don't expect anyone to take a bomb threat there seriously. There weren't too many bombs to speak of since the 1956 or 1945 era. People don't really remember bombs anymore. I hope the airport staff learns something from this, but I'll keep my expectations low. That would be work, and there's not a lot of us who like to work in Budapest. Drinking spritzers (fröccs) is the most important in July and August.

Hungarian airport police have their problems. They don't really follow protocols. (I can't really mention examples other than a time when we waited over 30+ minutes for their response for an unattended bag..) You can hear in the recording that they are the ones who are asking ATC to ignore the airport bomb threat protocol..

ATC was not dithering. They know how to handle their airport and give simple taxi instructions. The problem was whoever The incident Commander was that was in charge of the bomb threat response (That is not an ATC responsibility) was clearly changing their mind constantly. ATC was just the messenger here, not the decision maker. You really think an air traffic controller is the one who is responsible for overall decision making during a bomb threat? No. Lol

With taxiway zulu they would block the further fast exit, and with taxiway kilo they would block an important intersection. I can imagine the logic, the main idea was to get the aircraft out of the runway as soon as possible, but later on they figured out the cons. We should keep in mind the BUD Cargo City, where there are a lot of 747 frighters on a daily basis, and those planes can only fit RWY 31R / 13L (locally referred as RWY 2). And for the stairs there is a huge problem at BUD after one of the main GH company filed bankruptcy because of the pandemic. There is an equipment and workforce shortage on the apron. But I hope the airport learned the lesson, and prepares more for a similar type of emergency.

As a hungarian, who flew to BUD many times: I think the airport ground service one of the fastest, for example I've never had to wait for my checked in luggage more than 10 minutes. We just have to see the facts about what is going on inside the ramp area. So there are different ramp agent companies, Malév Ground Handlig, Celebi GH, Menzies, Aiport Service Budapest Zrt. Malév GH filed it's bankruptcy because of the pandemic, and there is a shortage in the apron of equipment and crew. This is why delivering wquipment is a problem. But I also think it was a different situation, this not the great example how you should treat a bomb threat. I hope that the airport learned the lesson, and prepares more to these types of emergencies. Sets up a stand by equipment or maybe the BUD Fire Service purchases a ladder truck. But don't blame the airport completely, it was one afternoon of it's operation. Think about how many flights did they delivered safely.

Absolutely pathetic response by the people on the ground. Not necessarily ATC or the controller themselves. Most like the military, police, or airport operations. ATC was just a messenger at that point while the responsible decisions makers clearly diddled around doing nothing. They had plenty of time to have things planned out and ready to go immediately on landing. Thank God it was a false alarm, but their idiocy still injured passengers from the unnecessary emergency evacuation. Well done pilots and honestly well done ATC.

I believe it is the pilots responsibility for the safety of everyone onboard. I don't know anything about this situation. That being said, I feel that watching your videos that some pilots are not strongly assertive in situations like this. I think generally the plane in danger should take charge and not tolerate delay, misinformation or any inappropriate decision making. Perhaps in this situation I might have said something like this on the radio from the pilot...We are landing. Clear all the planes out of the way. If you have stairs near the runway we will use them else we will shutdown and evacuate on the runway. Have several ambulances available. We will be descending rapidly and landing immediate. Please confirm.

In the end, the crew had no choice but to use the slides because of the moronic management at this airport but there is room for criticism of this crew and especially the captain. There's hardly any sense of urgency in his voice. He sounds weak and is therefore ineffectual. Instructions about parking and evacuation should've been asked for and received earlier in the descent so the airport could prepare. We have the so-called NITS briefing. This can be used for ATC too. Give them a NITS too! Full brief for the ATC should've been given about needs and intentions at least 10 minutes out. This is not me being Captain Hingsight. This kind of stuff is practiced in the simulators and written in detail about in the company manuals.
