It's probably insured, so the airline probably won't mind. It's so that if someone sees something suspicious, they should want to report it immediately and not hold back out of fear that if they're wrong they must pay for diversion.

@@harishsundararaman8495 Steve is not talking about the pilots, they should be free to divert. He is talking about this idiot who causes the diversion. Here in Germany you are fully liable for the airline expenses, some people have done that for some ridiculous reasons. I remember a woman not wanting to fly to holiday with her boyfriend so she called from a public phone booth and threatened her flight with a bomb. Airport was cleared, flights diverted and delayed... Was fined... I think something in the region of 200k€+. And well deserved so.

@@ferrari2k Pretty sure Hashed's not talking about the pilots either. His point is that if people get sued for damages in a case like that, a passenger knowing that might be hesitant to report something he might find suspicious out of fear he might get sued for damages if it turns out there was never any danger. And it's a good point.

"We are asking for services on this occasion" has to be the most badass way of requesting a SWAT team I've ever heard...

Well done, as always :) According to the Czech TV station, CT24, a man on board claimed he was carrying explosives. After he was searched, none were found. Nevertheless he was arrested for disrupting air travel safety.

We had that happen here in the Salt Lake area. An A380 from LA to Paris made an emergency landing at SLC. No explosives were found. After an equipment check, everyone reboarded, and they were on the merry way.

Has anyone claiming to have a bomb actually had one? If one intends the destroy the aircraft, then there's no point in telling anyone about the real bomb. If one's intention is to impose one's will on the crew, there's no need to have a real bomb, and not point in taking the risk required to get it on-board. Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 would probably have turned out differently if the crew had disbelieve the existence of a bomb.

Nirajan M ILS is instrument landing system. The system includes two parts. The first part is a localizer that positions the airplane at the right heading of the runway. The second part is a glide slope with keeps the airplane on the correct vertical trajectory for the runway. It's all done with radio navigation so the pilot just has to dial in the correct frequency in the cockpit and he's good to go.

He actually said seat 3A, but it's hard to catch, and not notated in the onscreen captions.
