Bollywood's craziest action movie

Ойын-сауық

Go to squarespace.com/mulcahy for 10% off your WARsite or doMAIM.
In 2019, Bollywood director Siddharth Anand made a movie called WAR. The film quickly became a critical and commercial success due to its exciting action, the star power of lead actors Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, and most of all, its constant and heavy-handed gay vibes. In other words, I'm a Bollywood fan and you're my captive audience. It's time to talk about War until our ghungroo toot jayenge.

i just have to say that i have watched this movie three times. once by myself for the gay and bollywood craziness. the second time with my dad and brother who both agreed it was very fruity. and then lastly with both of them and my mom who also saw the homoeroticism. anyway needless to say we’re all tiger shroff fans now

I watched War last winter on your recommendation in the Bollywood movies video without knowing about the plot twist and was left completely mystified, I don't think you understand exactly how funny it is to have a movie recommended to you as "dumb homoerotic spy/war movie" and then SPOILERS have it revealed 20 minutes before the credits that one of the main characters was actually someone else entirely and had died 2 years ago in cannon. I'm glad you made another video on the movie I feel like this has given me the emotional closure I needed after experiencing that 😂

In the clip of when Tiger Shroff’s character sees Hrithik Roshan’s character, you could just play Dream Weaver over the footage and it would look like your standard “lead-sees-a-hot-person-that-becomes-their-love-interest” scene

If you're going to be covering Indian movies about face-swapping, I'd recommend Yevadu (2014). A guy almost gets killed by gangsters on a bus, comes back with a new face, and gets revenge. Then, he finds out that he got his new face from a guy who was killed by different gangsters on the same bus, so he goes and gets revenge for that guy, too. On a different note, Tiger Shroff's career has always been a little disappointing for me because he SHOULD be starring in martial arts action movies like John Wick or The Raid. He was in a rip-off of The Raid, but that's not the same thing. Put him in a movie that just drops him into one fight scene after another, and he'd be in his element, but instead they keep making him do things that he's terrible at like acting, and you can see how uncomfortable he is.

Bollywood movies have way too much singing for my liking, but I actually love watching you talk about them! Apart from the absurdity of it all, the little bts info you drop about the actors (or the production overall) really does it for me. Also the way I GASPED when I realised that the scene where the two male leads spin around in their motorcycles was shot in Lisbon! Like, that's singlehandedly the most iconic thing that has ever happened here!!! Walking down those streets will never be the same now 😭😭

Okay, wow. You're so on point! When I first watched the movie, I actually felt sad at the ending, partly cuz of the revelation of the actual antagonist, who otherwise seemed formidable, but then fell flat at the end. But mostly because of that unresolved sexual tension, that had major romantic undertones. It was like I saw the death of a potential fictional IT (gay) couple in bollywood. I was side-eyeing the film until the "get in line" part where I actually let out a loud cackle. The movie is very explicit with its homoerotism and it was actually quite refreshing to see it in such a high-end mega budget bollywood movie.

Yay we get another Bollywood vlog from you! War is now apart of the YRF spy universe. I’m sorry but I still like to to believe that it’s a unrequited love story between Tiger and Hrithik. Tiger is so mesmerized by Hrithik I never seen him look at one of his heroines like that lmao 😂 jokes apart War was really entertaining. Maybe the story and acting was not up to par but Tiger really does some of his best work in War. Sadly there’s not much for the female characters especially Vaani. I’m looking forward to seeing where War 2 will go and Tiger 3 which comes out this week. Which is gonna very interesting cause we have Emraan Hashmi playing the antagonist going up against Salman Khan. While in War it made perfect sense to have Tiger vs Hrithik. Their chemistry was wether it’s just dialogue or dancing and especially action fight scenes were 🔥🔥

The final fight scene where Kabir wants Saurabh to die without Khalid’s face. The tension of Saurabh imitating Khalid

I would like to give a brief context when it comes to homosexuality in South Asia Homosexuality was never in prevalence(historically, contemporary South Asia),regular people in India don't have any idea of homosexuality but that can't be said for trans people and their existence,bc people in South Asia don't hold much negative view about trans people as compared to the people in the west, western asia. Due to the ignorance of South Asians on homosexuality, people in South Asia r more comfortable holding hands in public while being the same sex Which is odd for westerners especially for amab people to hold hands platonically (being a het) publicly. This type of public platonic same sex pda is seen as "normal" or heterosexual ,bc there is no concept of homosexuality in India for vast majority of South Asian(unlike in the west,South America, don't know about Africa,Australia, South East, east asia) Just to make sure I am not saying that gay people don't/didn't exist in South Asia. Most Non het People in past in South Asia they were socially pushed to have a het family when they grow up (that goes for het people too ,it didn't matter if they didn't wanted to marry that particular person which was chosen by their families ,they had to marry ,there was no option of rejecting that people doesn't matter if u r het or non het person) as I explained before pda among same sex people is seen as het ,"normal" that there was no huge push for lgb movements in South Asia(but for trans people there r historical event in South Asia where trans people rose up and protested for their autonomy , existence)unlike in the west where pda between same sex people(doesn't matter even if they het people)in the past (and even in some cases present too) was seen as non het ,"abnormal" behaviour. Now that neo lib policies(i am a socialist btw)has been implemented and more n more private companies are in power and that political, economical power is taken from religious institutions, conservatives movements ,people in the urban areas(which is about 38 %of the whole 1.45 billion of India) who has access to outside media and the capability to understand English more n more ,they are aware that they can be non het people too,as there r laws in the constitution that protects them ,more people are recognising what the previous generation didn't have the inspiration or the articulation to express themselves. In the west trans people's existence was sort of a new thing and received by normies with hesitance But in South Asia ,trans people has a documentary history and the normies are aware of trans people (from their childhood) which can't be said for homosexuality and non het people. U can say these types of hindi or other South Asian movie industries are a form of "bromance" genre(which is platonic and is reflected in the real life people's behaviour too in South Asia) U can imagine whatever u want ,art can be subjective, for sure and interpretation can be endless,I admit . ,but I also hope that people who r not aware of what I mentioned above ,can put the same in to their analysis or their world building ,"shipping of actors" when they r thinking/considering about media from South Asia. Forgive me for my broken English(as u can tell I am an esl) 30:23 that's how indian soldiers salute unlike in the west where they place their palm parallel to the ground. Also u can just pronounce hrithik's name as rih -tihk , h is silent ,don't have to combine the h and r together and the t is soft sounding t like in Spanish😊

This movie is basically the current MCU movies, that goes against culture, values and allies of India. This is something Kevin Feige would make if he was given Mission Impossible Franchise. The only difference is Indian filmmakers and actors are actually talented to put a great "product" on screen rather than something like The Marvels or Wakanda Forever.
