Its cool to see the 777 load shedding and not lighting everything up immediately on battery push 🐸

@@vedymin1 it really doesn’t do much on batteries, although if you switch on the standby power more will come on with batteries only. But this is not needed when starting the APU

Wow nice start, if i grow up i wanna be an airline Pilot and fly a b777-300ER, its my dream plane
Love these videos! I got lucky and could visit the cockpit of a 777-300ER and sit in the right hand seat. Such a beautiful cockpit, and aircraft!

Great to see but I gotta say I've seen a bank of vacuum tubes get operational faster than this lol.

Indeed, the AIMS is a bit slow starting up with all the software is needs load before it is operational.
Amazing ❤

Bit of a bummer that there is no APU instrumnetation until AFTER the APU is running :O

Only if started on external pwr you would see the indications.

Yeah, my first thought too...but since I never "typed" on the B-777 I based your comment on my experience with other Boeings and Douglas. The fire warnings were/are powered by the Battery Bus, but not the squibs if I recall correctly (retired now, need to check my manuals).
Great video!! Appreciate the effort. Other than Brake Source and L Main/ R Main Generator Off lights will any other indicator, display or instrument power on if it’s just on battery?

Thanks. You can turn on the standby pwr but that takes some time. Normally you just start up the APU like this.
Didn't I fly with you in PANAM academy on 777 full motion in MIA?
747 next please.

No where to see APU status as it starts? Surprised how long it took for the flight displays to turn on.

You can turn on the standby power to start up AIMS but that would take about 10 minutes, and because we do not want to drain the battery, it is normally not done. If on external power you can see the start up on the status page.

@@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098 Makes sense. in the event of a fault how would you know in this scenario? Other than the APU not coming online within x number of seconds?
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098

When APU fails to start or has an auto shutdown, you would need to connect a GPU to troubleshoot the problem.
I thought the sequence, after APU power was established, was: APU bleed air-AUTO Left & right packs-AUTO ADIRU-On Hydraulic Primary switches, all 4, pushed “ON” Fire test. I’m still learning though. I’m going from a 747 into a 777. Maybe leaving APU bleed air switches & pack switches on after shutdown, is normal too. IDK
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098

Hi, with the B777 pack switches are when shutting down APU switched off. APU bleed switch stays in AUTO. I normally don’t startup ADIRU if I don’t need it, flight crew then shuts it down and restart it again. Also don’t switch on hydraulics, flight crew only switches hydraulics on just before departure. Fire test is done when electrical pwr available after start up APU with the batteries. If external pwr is connected you can do it before.
When two engine on and trun off apu why electry does work? What is main electry?

Engines have generators
No feedback showing the APU is starting?
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098
5 ай бұрын
Nope, just the sound of a starting APU on the background, but if it doesn’t start on the battery the first time we will need an external power to see what is wrong with the APU.
Do you know what is the HYD PRESS in the STAT page is? It says 90 in the video, but I search online and it said the system pressure is 3000psi. Are there any differences?
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098
Ай бұрын
As there are no hydraulic pumps on there is no system pressure. Brake pressure is the only one available and that comes thanks to from a accumulator.

@@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098 So after the engine is turned on, it will show ~3000, isn't it? Thanks for you help
Those screens need some cleaning omg
Can you start the apu without turning on the battery?
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098

If you have no pwr at all on the aircraft APU will not start. The APUC at least needs battery pwr to control the start up of the APU.

It bothers me that it says “tiller” like the flight crew are useless. Imagine a car said “steering wheel”

Maybe because they can mistake the handle for opening the window for the steering tiller 😬. Sometimes it just the way they do things.

Informative. I flew almost everything at my airline except the B-777 and B-747. (Retired now, but still have a memory). I am gathering that you're technical/maintenance, not flight crew?

APU fire test before starting…..nah! who needs that
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098

Fire test doesn’t work when starting with batteries, as AIMS isn’t powered you can’t test the system, you can do it after pwr up. But don’t worry the APUC is very capable in controlling and monitoring the startup and will take action when a fire is detected.
You did Not make a Fire Test
@dennisvijverbergbrakesrele6098

Yes I did, when you start APU with the battery only, you do the fire test after the AIMS (Airplane Information Management System) has fully started up. Check the end of the video.
