You mean that senior officer. That's what they called him. If that "kid" raised the gun and shot the cop, would you be commenting? Don't answer a cop knocking on your door with a gun in your hand.... It can't get more stupid than that. 🤧

It's not a "tough" call. This is SIMPLE. No warrant...and the kid has 100% right to be in his home, with a gun. The cop banged on the door and hid from view...his announcement is worthless. Are we going to act like we haven't seen home invaders dress as or say they are police? Regardless he never stepped out. He never attacked the officer. He has 100% RIGHT to be in his own w/gun in hand. FFS you can literally see his bare hand come up right before the coward cop dumped those shots into him AND MURDERED HIM. It is not tough...and to act as if it is is why there is a problem in the first place.

The cop didn't need a warrant. They received a call for a disturbance. That gave him probable cause. They identified themselves as the police while they were violently pounding and banging on his door. Take a cue from Henry Hill in "Good Fellas". He stated that when he was busted, there were all of these guns pointing at him and yelling, and he knew immediately that it was the cops because anyone out to "whack" him would not have made such a commotion.

I would agree that it is definitely a grey area. The police are responding to a possible domestic violence call. These are the most dangerous calls to go on. While I agree it would be better if they had time to give orders but conversely, what if the cop gave an order and he shot the cop? Human reaction is like 2 seconds. So if the cop waits and the resident goes for first shot the cop is dead. I think it's important to consider that fact in your conclusion. Definitely reasonable for a cop on a domestic call to fear for their life when someone opens the door with a gun in hand. That being said, we live in a world of technology. I think camera doorbells are extremely important. If you don't have one, talk through the door before opening. If you're unsure if they're a cop call 911 to verify before opening. When you open a door keep the gun hidden behind you in a non threatening way and then inform police you are carrying. I'd avoid answering the door without verifying who is there.

@joshsummers7933 I read your long rambling and hypothetical post, but the reality is this: The police received a call of a disturbance, which gave them probable cause. The police beat on the door, identifying themselves. This young Brother, opens the door greeting the police with a gun in his hand. Only a fool, especially if you are Black, would have done that. What did "you" expect to happen? I do not subscribe to the politics and thinking of Byron Donald, Mark Robinson, Tim Scott, Candace Owens, Clarence Thomas, JESSE LEE Peterson, James T. Harris, Lee Elder, Thomas Sowell, etc., and I tell you, looking beyond that the victim is a good-looking, young, Black man, HE WAS A FOOL. He committed an extremely awful foolish act and paid with his life like bungee jumping off of a bridge with bungee cords you tied together purchased from Walmart. I am not being callous, I am being realistic. Black folks need to abandon some of this rap/hip-hop and Hollywood, Real Housewives of Atlanta distraction mentality and recover our senses (some needs to learn), about the real politics of being Black in ameriKKKa.

Let me tell you what I see. I see and hear a white woman telling the cop TWO WEEKS EARLIER she heard a disturbance at that address. And she says she heard a noise that day. So you got some nosey neighbor up in other people's business and because she heard a noise she called the cops THAT DAY. Then I see a cop hide behind the wall, not stand in front of the door so homeowner can see him, and as door is opened rushes in and shoots the homeowner immediately. Yes, homeowner had a gun down at his side. He was in his home. He heard someone knocking but couldn't see anybody because the brilliant cop was standing 5 ft from the door behind a wall. This was all because that woman had to be nosey and try to get someone in trouble FOR NOTHING.

nah cop in the wrong. shooting anybody in their home just for opening a door is plain wrong. it doesnt matter if he had a gun in his hand, this is America, people are allowed to have guns in their homes. and the cop stepped to the side, AWAY from the door after banging on it so his 'announcement of their presence' is kinda questionable. theres no way the guy knew if it was a real cop or someone just faking a cop to try to rush into the house when the door opens (which happens a lot more than people hear about) hence, when the guy heard banging on the door but couldnt see anyone, of course hes gonna get suspicious and arm himself before opening the door. he had the gun down to his side, no verbal or physical threats whatsoever. he didnt even have a chance to say anything before being blasted in his own home. cop needs to go to prison.

These are things normal, rational people do in that situation. Officers are trained to understand domestic violence calls are the most dangerous calls they'll likely go on. Given the information the officer had at the time of the incident, it makes sense for him to react the way he did. Officers are killed on these type calls more than any other. It happens all the time and they know it. What the Airman did was tragic, but very stupid. I'm honestly not surprised it ended the way it did.

If up, was he aiming towards the doorway and Officer, and if so, why? Why would he be aiming at the Officer. @williamfrazier843 It doesn't matter whether the weapon was pointed at the cop, the results discredits your argument and the police operate under a policy, not a law, called qualified immunity which is a general basic catchall defense. I am in defense of and for the victim, but he made a very bad, horrible mistake, being a Black man standing in front of a cop with, not just an ordinary weapon, but a gun. That is the action of a fool, as if he hadn't heard, known, or understood how these cops operate, especially towards Black people. A young Black woman was attacked by a group of young women. She held them off by brandishing a knife. When the police arrived, she chose to chase one of the girls just to scare her because she saw the cavalry. The police killed her on the spot. If you are not white and don't plan on killing the police, don't be standing there with a weapon in your hand... a bat, a knife, a gun... nothing.

They announce themselves several times you don’t stand in front of the door when you announce yourself he backed up, gave me warning three times of the sheriffs office and the kid came to the door with a gun in his hand. What is it? What are the sheriffs supposed to think that’s reasonable suspicion that he’s gonna use force against them. And there’s no says we have to drop the gun that was justified shooting all day long.

I wouldnt call this murder. This is tragic and terrible and the way i understand it, this was a bad shoot. 6 shots is not "overkill" its called a bill drill and it is trained widely in firearms training. If you want to understand why its six shots you can look up bill drill on the Internet to get better understanding. I say its not murder because that label (as far as i understand) requires some form of intent and i dont think you could successfully argue intent in this situation. Manslaughter probably because i dont think it was justified or warrented. I can understand the potential thought process in this case (not saying its right) that a cop coming to an apartment with a lot of unknowns and this being modern america creates a pucker factor for a cop and then the door opening and someone holding a gun could put a cop already cranked over the top into a fight or flight reaction. Again not saying the cop was right and im not saying the man was wrong. I think a lesson for everyone to learn is,for your own safety, dont answer the door with a gun visibly in your hands. Speak through the door. Crack the door and look first. Or at least holster or hold the gun out of view. If you feel that someone dangerous is on the other side DONT OPEN THE DOOR. Even if they say they're the police. Call 911 and verify first. Again this is a tragic and terrible situation and i pray for peace and comfort for all the families effected by this. I know this is the internet so plenty of people will come at this with a lot of emotions and very little critical thinking but i say a manslaughter charge may be warrented at most but i dont think this is murder. This was definitely a bad shoot but if you understand firearms training and the reality of policing you can understand how these things can end up happening and how difficult it is to find the solution that avoides this without neutering the ability of the police to do what we entrust them to do. Not saying there isnt a solution but its definitely not a simple one. But these are just my thoughts. May God bless you all and may God comfort the families in this tragic time.

He wasn’t at the wrong door so since we know the cops have in fact been called there before the only reason he would be holding a gun is,as,you, know,as,he knows as I know I repeat, since the cops have been called there before not only did he know better than to,answer it holding a gun he did so not knowing the cop,is so in fact obligated to save his own life.If the cops had not been called there before than you can plead ignorance but that is not this situation what happened. If it happens anywhere again I hope the cop knows he is obligated to save his own life.Duh.(c)Dino Sherman

0 description of the man causing the disturbance 0 outstanding warrants on the victim 0 seconds to react to being unknowingly approached by police You would think a PROVEN domestic disturbance would warrant multiple officers on the scene and a warrant for arrest of the correct perpetrator. No officer walks into a domestic situation without proper backup and confirmation. He had every right to be armed especially given the fact that the officer was out of sight when the door opened. On top of that, he was at home ALONE, how does a domestic disturbance happen with only one party?!? Makes zero sense.
