I've come to understand the genious of Bob Ross' painting technique was how he was a master of letting the canvas work for him, as he would say.

I cut draw a stock figure but I bought the bob Ross set up and sure enough it worked! You can do it if you just try. You'll surprise yourself.

Just wait a cotton pickin minute there little one. It is almost blasphemous to deify a man. Bob Ross might have been a gentle soul with some skill in one style of painting who loved little critters BUT HE WAS MERELY A HUMAN BEING. People please don't liken him to The Lord. It's just NOT RIGHT. How about using Saint Francis as a comparison? That might even be going too far. And Bob Ross a LEGEND?? Also going too far. REMBRANDT OR LEONARDO OR VAN GOGH are legends. Geeze Louise get a grip!

Ross was diagnosed with lymphoma in the early 1990s, which eventually forced his retirement after The Joy of Painting's final episode aired on May 17, 1994. He died at the age of 52 on July 4, 1995

Love watching him paint. HATE reading the comments. Far too syrupy, sickening sweet. All the misdirected adulation makes me want to throw up. Deifying a man is blasphemous people.

I think it's nice when he makes some really detailed with a lot going on, and then simpler ones like this. he said at the beginning too that "this is a simple little painting."
