I wrote to him in 1990. I told him that I was a fan of the show. he wrote back to me and very graciously thanked me. I still have the letter that he sent me in a scrapbook.

get a small canvas, some paint and some brushes. Put the play speed on 0.5 or as low as it will go and give it a try. Pure pleasure. Be prepared to rewind. Regardless, it won't look like his but it'll look great.

All of Bob's comment sections are a testament of who he really was. And your absolutely right; rare, if not one of a kind, is as objective as one could be about the comments in Bob's videos. I have yet to see a troll in his comments.

My Mum and I watched this every day after school - even still, whenever we see a beautiful sky, or a funky tree, we hope it’s him that created that, is happy and painting somewhere

I started watching Bob Ross in the late 90's on PBS. Even as a young kid i new their was something special about his paintings and the way he talked. Little did Bob know that his painting videos would be so much appreciated and loved 30-40 years later. Thank you Bob.. R.I.P.

He gets almost done, the picture is looking almost perfect, and all of the sudden he starts dropping in all these huge trees in the foreground! I don't think I would have the courage to just start slapping paint over a large area when the thing was damn near finished! But he was fearless. He knew what would happen and that it would turn out awesome. What an artist.

Well, yes, except that on this one he really neglected the reflection of the mountains. I’m sure he knew about it, and probably did so to make it easier for anyone following him, but the result sure looks strange.

Before the live show, he always made a sample, how it will be look like. So what we see, it is always the second attempt.

Whenever i see a beautiful sunset, I like to think God lets Bob take the reins to make it that much more beautiful. But it's just a silly thought.

My favorite thing about Bob Ross is not only is he soothing and talented but each time I watch his videos I'm transported to the scene he has created. A world away, a perfect world. I travel all over with him and it's a beautiful journey.

Bob Ross was a regular guy. He was known as a real ball buster in the military. It shows how sensitive and tough he was. The roughest people can be the sweetest bc they care... ive talked to a couple of my heros and realized that hero worship is all based in fiction. People are all made from the same stuff with some happy little variations. Nature just drops them in wherever.

I used to watch him when I was younger with my dad. Didn't know I would marry a Ross! I miss Bob & his trees! My daddy too. RIP to both of them.

Bob Ross truly is what the world needs now. His kind demeanor, his love of nature and his love of humanity.

I've always wondered how artists add detail like that to their paintings, such as how we added the texture of the mountain. I thought they literally sat there painting every little detail with a tiny brush. It's crazy how he can make things appear with a brush and a knife

I thought the same! Bob taught me that this kind of landscape painting is actually subtle trickery...techniques to fool the human eye and brain into it's tendency to discern shapes and patterns that aren't really there! (a form of paredolia actually)

The Sounds of his brushes on the canvas mixed with his voice are oh so calming and relaxing

I feel like if I were to listen to his calm voice everyday it will cure my anxiety

This series of painting have encouraged m to get stuck in. I am a 74 year old novice and Bob`s style is something I hope I can emulate. Already done one but as he would have said that it is my painting nd it is not too bad

Am I the only one who always falls asleep with watching Bob Ross? I am not artistically inclined but I love watching him. Thank you for posting these. It has now become part of my evening ritual.

SAMEEEE,my class was learning a lecture from MATH and i wasnt there when they were learning it,so i dont know how to do the tasks like that and stuff.AND TODAY WE HAVE A TEST WHICH INCLUDES THOSE STUFF THAT I DIDNT EVEN LEARN CUZ I WAS SICK.AND THE WORST PART OF IT,IS THAT ITS A FINAL. He probably would be a republican - but from what little I know about him, he'd be horrified at the state of politics these days and I really doubt he'd be the type to support 45. He seems like someone who would care about the rights of other people and animals being stripped away with a hacksaw - I reckon he'd fight against everything that's happening right now, parties be damned.

Rest In Peace bob, it was always a good time listening to your videos. I know I’m a little late but it was the highlight of my day to come home and fall asleep to that voice. You have made me fall asleep, be late to school and made me numerous times forget to plug in my phone. I remember I had an anxiety attack and you stopped the tears. You reached and touched me bob. I love you

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed that he didn't laugh after he beat the devil outta that paint brush.

I find his voice extremely relaxing. I had a terrible day, so when I came home I put on an episode and I calmed down heaps. I'm quite during the entire episode except the occasions "woah!" When he makes mountains or grass appear so realistically!

I can't believe he died when I was only four. My grandmother and I used to watch him when I was a kid. He was, and still is, one of my two favorite traditional artists.

I've always watched Bob Ross, but now through Covid and being pregnant he is my happy place. Calms all my fears and anxieties before bed and first thing in the morning.

I love how he pronounces the 'wh'. Bob Ross was a very kind soul and a great human being
