The pringle "Hand in a can." The chipotle, "I wouldn't have gotten half of it." All eventually tied into the inner-monologue where he says that people, "don't even get the half of it," and he claims that, "I don't think that I 'Can' 'Hand'le this right now." Dude runs deep. He's a genius.

The bottom of the Pringles can is where happiness is. He can't reach the bottom. If he had a daughter, her hand could fit and he could be happy. "Then I would finally have someone around the house that could fit their hand inside a Pringles can." The burrito is his mental state and the ingredients are all the things that come with fame and fortune. He suffers from mental breakdowns and panic attacks regularly. The ingredients spilling out is a metaphor for his breakdowns and no one warned him about the mental stress of fame and fortune. "I wouldn't have got the lettuce if I knew it would fit, I wouldn't have got the cheese if I knew it wouldn't fit, I wouldn't have got the peppers if I knew it would fit, I wouldn't have got half of it." That's also the reason he says, "... and if they still don't understand it then you run it one more time." He would have never become famous if he would have known the mental toll it would take on him. This was his last performance for 5 years until he released Inside.

@@hansTowns the thing with the burrito metaphor was his conversation with his therapist. The "expert" for rolling a burrito was giving him alot of things to process because that is what he wants. The tortilla is the metaphor for his life, and the ingredients were ingredients in life... Projects... And at one point Bo was taking in so much project more than his singular life can handle. Projects that his "expert" therapist advising him to do. Bo taking too much projects as per doctor's advice were weighing on his mental health instead of making him more active and less depressed...

Just for a little extra context Bo was struggling with Anxiety and was experiencing panic attacks on stage. This was his last performance before he took a 5 year break from performing live. At some point he said in an interview that after this show ended he just went backstage and cried for 2 hours. He talks a bit about it on All Eyes on Me, from the Inside special. The Inside special itself is largely a look into his struggles with being forced into isolation from the lock downs that had happened. I personally highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

I was already spun into a deep depression and needed a job to take care of a cat that given due to last owners gave him up to me. He needed a home, and a friend. I didn't have money. I needed him and he needed me. I got into schooling for 2-3 years with money for my little friend. And before I got to go into work, my little friend was old, and had kidney disease.... And passed away before I got work. I was in isolation on and off for 8 years.

This is one of the very best works of Bo. And also very typical of his style. To make comedic songs with very real and often painful undertones. He likes to lead you on a seemingly funny journey to then expose you to a problem, issue or feeling he is centering the song around. But he never lingers too much, just enough to break the "veil" for a second, make your heart skip a beat. Absolute masterclass. Also his lyrics are often very metaphorical. In this case, the funny part can also be interpreted as his career in a way. The Pringles scheme being entertainment industry, and how difficult to get into that and succeed, and when you do, it often blows back on you. While the Burrito scheme can be understood as him making it into the industry and trying to get everything out of it that spirals out in the end. And if someone told him how a lot of that would not fit in his life, he wouldn't have gotten any of that. So all in all, wonderful piece by Bo. I'd love to see your take on some of his other stuff if you feel like taking a break from bars every now and then. Good content again, keep it up! peace

@@2wyt160 I think the point of bringing the burrito up again is to make his point that he just said in the previous line, that the audience doesn't care about what he really has to say, they just want to hear comedy...so he goes back to the comedy part of the song while the lighting changes so you can't even see his face (the real him), just a shadow of him.

"Inside" is a masterpiece, but is kind of tough for reactors. You can either watch it beginning to end as one should for the full experience, but for a reaction video that means a whole lot of cuts and basically just a highlight reel of reactions, which is almost always a bad idea. Or, you can do the individual songs or at least the more popular ones, one for each video, which is what most do, and that works well enough, but you also kind of miss an entire layer of the whole thing that way, the bits in between the songs, the struggle and the narrative etc. That being said, from the songs you gotta check out All Eyes On Me, almost directly references this one or more specifically the time period. Then musts are "How the world works", "Welcome to the internet", "Comedy" for example. They'll make for good content if you've clocked on to the fact that there's a whole lot more to this guy than there seems to be at first glance.

@@hmthatsniceiguess2828 Oh yeah absolutely, I actually didn't mean he had to watch Inside for a reaction video, but for himself. He could react to a few parts of it though, as you mentioned. 'All eyes on me' is a good one for sure, 'Welcome to the internet' would be another one, and 'White woman's instagram' for a funny reaction. I think he could watch the whole show to enjoy the full experience, record his reaction but then split it into a few videos with only the best parts, that could work.

You mentioned all the things you liked at the end, I think one thing you didn't mention but you may still agree, was the lighting. He did an excellent job setting up the mood and atmosphere with the lights as he transitioned into each part, starting from the first few seconds when he's talking to the crowd. He then says "I've got a lot of sh*t to say" and the lights go off in that moment and the crowd fades away, and the obvious amazing lights as he kneeled with the spotlights converging on him, and the following with gold lighting silhouette. Ending in a fade to black.

Most artists do but comics most of all. Look at the people who are the best comics, they are almost all Irish, Jewish, Black (think about all your favorite comics). The type of people who hold in their demons and let them loose. Watch “Rothanial” by Jerrod Carmichael (directed by Bo).

Every time I listen to this and it gets to the end where he tells the crowd he hopes their happy is always so heartbreaking knowing what he was going through. When the special first came out, I just thought it was Bo being silly Bo. Instead, you find out that he is having a panic attack during that specific performance and those screams are actually real. Gets me every time

Great reaction. I have watched this video 3 times a week for 3 months. To know he didn't perform for 5 years after this catches me. It helps me. I usually tear up

And here I am just watching your reaction again. You have to know the Burrito is a metaphor for fitting too much in your life. He's too awesome to not keep watching it. And your reaction to it is great.

I'm glad you spoke on that. I am one of those people who are self conscious and didn't want to go to a gym. But the way you said that relieved some doubts. Thank you. Loved the video and your thoughts. 👍

10:28 - 10:50 That part was so deep. He gave me chills. So real! It also took me back to Kanye’s 2016 concert whilst he vented about everything he was feeling at that time/had to get it off his chest. No he wasn’t crazy! He was talking to the people, I heard every word. But so many didn’t. Bo is EXTREMELY talented. This is the 1st time I’ve ever heard of him. Thx so for this Stevie. 🙏🏼✌🏼

Yo, I just got put onto your sh** yesterday but I'm lovin it. I like that part you talked about with people who are too self conscious to go to the gym. I used to hit the gym all the time in highschool but stopped going for a few years after I graduated and it was hard to go back because I felt a type of way after falling out of shape. But you're right, most people don't care as long you're there to put in the work. Anyway, great stuff man, hope you do more Bo Burnham stuff, he really is a legend

Awesome reaction! I've watched a lot of reactions to this song and I love it when someone really gets it like you did. Definitely one of his best, but honestly all of his stuff is amazing. A good follow up to this one is "All Eyes on Me", it might shed a little light on where he was mentally during this performance.

Hey I've been requesting this for a while. So glad you saw it and reached the same conclusion. "Inside" is worth a watch, even if not for the channel. PS watch this again JUST observing the lighting. Not only is he controlling it live (along with audio effects), but there is a lot of meaning to the lighting.

Bo is amazing. He is the youngest comedian to ever have a solo stand up special on comedy central (19). He preformed live until he was 25 in which he was have panic attacks and anxiety. "Kayne Rant" was his last song before he walked off stage and out of the spotlight for 5years. Until, he came out with "Welcome to the Internet", as well as a few others, and "Inside"(Netflix special) last year. "Art is Dead", "God's Perspective", "Repeat stuff", "Words Words Words" are all older and better in my opinion. You have a lot of videos you could make with Bo Burnham's work. I'm here for it. He has a nice rabbit hole of content you could watch for a while and people will come to watch it. Bo Burnham.

What an amazing introduction to Bo! Great reaction! It was quite a journey watching your face throughout this video. You were so skeptical at first! 😂 But then slowly came around. Would love to see you react to more Bo. All Eyes on Me is sort of a natural follow-up to this, but it's from his latest special and you may want to go backwards before you go forwards. I'd suggest We Think We Know You for something with a similar level of creativity and production value. Or, if you'd like to hear him rap with ridiculous wordplay, check out Words Words Words!
