BNSF 9615 on a very late Amtrak #3 on BNSF's Cajon Sub.

A unique Amtrak Southwest Chief (#3) running 9 hours late westbound on BNSF's Cajon Sub in Southern California. Due to an engine failure a day earlier in New Mexico, Amtrak substituted an available BNSF Executive painted SD70MAC as the train's leader for the remainder of the trip into Los Angeles. The video below shows the train running over the Mojave River just north of Victorville, CA on March 26, 2011.

Nice train action. Nick
Aaaah, the elegance of the Executive SD70MAC....... Great shot, thanks for posting.
Beautiful scenery! I hope to make it up to cajon sometime this year.
Very nice! The horn looks like it's a Nathan M3
Great video, loved it!
"I was on the 101 yesterday going to Hollywood and saw that engine sitting at Union Station and was wondering what was going on and this answer my question."
Great catch! The track spacing on the curve looks really wide for some reason.
@nicholasbreeden very late is a very common phrase yes. Almost every day after our daily conference call with the roadmaster, the first question to dispatch is "Where's Amtrak and how late is it today?" Typically here on the BNSF Ottumwa Subdivision we end up waiting at least 2-4 hours just for Amtrak....then we can finally get to work lol.
What type of camera did you use for this video?
Justin, so often now it is BNSF that is causing the trains to be late, especially these oil trains. Blame your employer, not Amtrak.
