    What code did you have? And what was the bad affect on a car?

    I think it was something like "wrong type" message, but no check engine light. The guage cluster developed 2 internal errors at first and then rpm stopped showing anything, and then some random lights came on. I'm not really sure if it's related to the alternator, but I'm in the process of figuring out what the deal is and how to fix it.

    @@maxsam201These cars are very sensitive to the power source for sure. When I got my E90, it came with the almost brand new 70A battery. The car CPU was registered to 90 A and the E90 model according to manual was designed around 90A. I've replaced the battery with new BMW 90A battery, after registering it to the car, the car transformed noticeable, performance wise, even idling become more stable. Unfortunately, this very often overlooked by BMW new owners. In my opinion, the wrong alternator might play a crucial role in the car overall performance!

    FYI - E90s can actually be supplied with 3 different battery sizes from factory, depending on country and climate, you can use any of those sizes, all you have to do is change the battery size in VO / coding! Helps if you want to save a few lbs of weight - like for autocross events.
