In my GS was a similar AGM battery. It started the bike only just so that the motor was turned on. So I took out and had a look. It was already 12 years old. At home I fully charged and fully discharged the battery a couple of times. This helped to bring it back to life. However, due to its age I replaced it. But it still serves me well for other purposes than turning on a motor. Thanks a lot for your videos!!!

Hello Old Mechanic, I'm old too, I'm 50. You make great videos about the BMW F800GT, I have such a bike for a short time and I like to do such things myself. I learned a lot from your videos even though my English is poor. Greetings from Poland.

I had to change the battery on my partner's Triumph Street Triple outside a Halfords (motor spares) store. As they had one and we were on route for a holiday. Her bike has an alarm which was blasting out for all it was worth while a swapped over the battery. It was a very busy day and I attracted a lot of attention as you would imagine. I like your tip with the temporary bolt fitting. I didn't do this and lost a bolt under the bike seat so took me longer to change. My ears were ringing for an hour afterwards 🤦‍♂️🤣 Kind regards Paul 🇬🇧

whoohaaahhaaa My friend his bike had an alarm too, and when you put it on the so called 'service mode' it gave every 10 minutes a super loud sqweek.. I wrapped it in 5 or more towels, and a roll of Ducktape !

Hi OM, would you have time to make a video on how to use a multi meter the correct way and how to diagnose electrical problems. Thanks for a great channel.

The same happened to me. My G650X-Country would always start fine until I was at a gas station after filling the gas tank: Suddenly it could barely get the engine turning and I had to call Europe assistance to get me home.

Hi old mechanic, thanks for the helpful video. 2 additions: 1. After disconnecting /reconnecting the battery, the 'service'- message will appear on the instrument panel. I assume there is no easy way to reset this unless you own one of the service adapters? 2. A good way to kill your battery on a BMW [ I had to learn it by myself :-( ] is to connect a Garmin device with an active (12V->5V) power adapter (like the Zumo XT) via the car tool plug or the DIN plug (on the right hand side). When theses devices are switched off, the electronic system of the BMW sometimes does not recognize this properly and does not shut down itself. KInd regards Ulrich

Hi Ulrich, hmm I never did see the 'service' message after replacing the battery. Perhaps the time that you saw it was a coincedent..

I noticed that you have lowered the bike, how much was it lowered and does it affect the handling and braking in a dramatic way, I own a 800 gt and I can’t flat foot unless I lean over to one side. I have bought another seat which I intend to recover after I have removed half the padding,

@@MikeHarveyPhoto Hi Mike, Joepi5 is right, I lowered the front of the bike too, but you have to becarefull not to lower it to much, as then it can bump onto the fender.
