yep, that is a nightmare spot on the f30/31 best to keep clean of all the leaves that make there way down there

Thanks 330dfam. I have a 62 reg f31 330d touring with exactly the same problem - water in driver and rear driver's side footwells. Done hose shower test and pretty certain it's not coming through door vapour barriers - no dripping or other sign of water ingress around door interior bases. Will try and catch up with you and get driver's carpet up a little with tray removed and see if I can find out if/where it's coming through around pedals etc. Have also cleared all drain holes around windscreen scuttle and done hose test - all seems to be draining fine so it's a tricky one to find. Will keep you posted.

Ok... found mine. Water coming through bulkhead around bonnet release cable in top right corner above accelerator pedal. Lifted bonnet, checked the cable - and grommet is split and has large hole in it and needs replacing. Probably need to remove the panel holding the release lever inside the footwell first in order to fit new grommet around the cable, will puzzle that out. Also suspect the water has pooled in the front and rear driver's side footwells so will try and work out how to drain it out. Have seen KZread video of a guy doing it on a 4 series due to blocked water release vent, it was like emptying a bath !

Hi mate I’m pretty sure mine is similar as bulkhead sound deadening was we in that area, I’ll check my bonnet release 💪🏼, Iv used a wet vac and it’s worked a treat, gets the carpet damp to the touch then run the car for 1/2 hr or so with heaters in full 😎👍🏻

@@330dfam Thanks... took the side skirt off this afternoon and checked one of the drain plugs under the car in case there was loads of water pooled under the carpet, but nice and dry happily. So used the wet vac on the carpet and now hoping car will dry out. Talked to BMW who said the grommet only comes as part of the bonnet release cable rear section, so found one on eBay and ordered it. Fingers crossed that sorts it ! Time will tell I guess. Thanks a lot for giving me the idea to take the tray off over the pedals, that's how I found the leak. Massively helpful.

I remember pedal box leaking water in was so common on the vauxhall Corsa when I worked in the garage, had to seal so many up. Hopefully you get it sorted soon 💪

Just need a nice day when I’m not working, can’t believe the water, and from this car!!, once Iv sorted it I’ll do a full fix/ run thorough, hope it helps 😎💪🏼

Please help I’m having same issue with series 1 the front doesn’t seem too bad it’s the rear carpet that is soaked!

Mines a 3serise, so not 100% on the 1 series, but mines leaking from the front and only shown in the back as the car was parked on an angle, the most common issue appears to be the vapour barrier in the doors so I’d check that first mate 😎👍🏻
