BMW Airhead Pushrod Tube Removal and Installation

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If you have old rusty pushrod tubes on your BMW airhead motorcycle, you might want to change them out for new stainless steel pushrod tubes. Not only will look much better, but they will probably keep your bike happy for another 50+ years!
In this video, I share how to remove your old pushrod tubes from your cylinder jugs. You can find these on most pushrod tubes on all BMW /5 models, BMW /6 models and BMW /7 models. Between 1969 and 1980 there changed the diameter of the pushrod tubes from 15.88mm (16mm) to 18mm (17.88mm).
This is a pretty straightforward repair that literally anyone can do with some patience! The only specialty tool you might want to pick up will be a pushrod tube mandrel (removal tool). This can be found here:
-16mm Mandrel: www.euromotoelectrics.com/pro...
-18mm Mandrel: www.euromotoelectrics.com/pro...
During the installation process, you might to pick up a good gasket maker or Loctite or your choice:
-Permatex 51850 amzn.to/3MFLgnp
-Loctite 290 amzn.to/3ovPE0d

Once the engine is done I have a feeling the bike will come together much faster. I still have to repair the final drive which isn‘t the healthiest assembly either...but that‘ll be dealt with once I receive more parts😅 Thanks for watching Simon👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Hi Broderick! I really dig the cerakote finish as well and thank you for your comment😃 I took more than enough photos of all engine parts...there is already a separate album on my phone😄 You will be able to see the finish once the engine is back together and I will not forget to include before & after shots in that video! Thanks for tuning in! Regards Andreas
