What a video....I had an ABS christmas tree dash when I turned it on this morning... did the disconnect and reconnect, light was still on, as soon as I started moving all the lights went out. Fantastic!

After trying everything and replacing various speed sensors,reluctor rings and disconnecting the batter for 30 mins,I stumble across this fix and it work. It actually worked !!!!!!….Less than 30 seconds. No lights on dash for over 10 days so far…fingers crossed.

I do the M.O.T., all good till they check the brake system in that special machines..my car come out with ABS fail,driving stability and tyres pressure.. They told me I have to change the speed sensor front left...I do that and still have the same problem... I go again to the garage and they said I have to change the wheel bearing because she have a magnet inside and maybe from that is not working... I am very glad I see today your video and I put back my old speed sensor and follow your steps and now it’s working perfect! God bless you my friend!!

Aaanton.....tried the thing regarding ABS ecu....and wiggled the connector....didnt work 1st time...drove a mile light came back on...did it again...this time wiggled it about more....BINGO...job done.... Thanks again buddy....Top info...👍👍👍

Thank you for the tip. I was having the same problem on my 2007 BMW 328i. I pulled up the ABS connection clip and pulled the connection sideways. All the way out and let it sit there for a minute. Then pushed it back into the connection and pushed down the top clip and back into place. Got into the car. The ABS light was still on, but when I took off, the light turned off and has not come back on again.

Hello - great video. Having problem with abs lights on. I’ve located part you mention. I can easily pull up but only about 5 to 10mm. Then resistance. Don’t want to pull to hard as might break maybe. Can I pull extra had up to fully remove this inserted part? Do I need to maybe release some other area of structure that this price inserts into? Thanks for any help here.

Hi, I have a bmw 2009 328i 3 series. Today, my abs randomly came on while I was driving and a triangle came up and dissappeared in yellow. I put it in dtc mode and the car drives fine but when I got over 60mph the car kind of jerks and stalls a bit on the road. Not sure if it was because of the wet weather today or what should b repaired. When in dtc, it drives fine tho

Gonna try this in morning changed my right side driveshaft yesterday because the ring was cracked I was hoping the abs light would turn off by it self but no joy so gonna pull the tab and hope it works

Thanx for the vid. You're doing a tremendous job! I have experienced the same warnings on my 2007 E90 325d, at first intermittently, but now constantly, also after erasing error codes using INPA. Speaking of which, INPA lists DSC error codes 5E67, 5DC1, 5DC3, 5DC4 and 5DC6, all apparently related to the rear right wheel speed sensor. I changed the sensor last summer, during the "intermittent" period. The old sensor looked OK, ie. no indication that the ABS ring had ever touched it, but I changed it still, and put in a thin washer to increase the distance to the ABS ring, just in case. However, the intermittent warnings continued after the swap, but has, as of last month, become constant. Will your method work in this case, do you think? I haven't checked pushing the DTC button for 5+ seconds, though, the result of which may rule out your method, if I have understood the video right.

Hi again. Tried pushing the DTC button for 5+ seconds, but the lights remain on. Given the error codes listed in my first message, do you still think the ABS/ECU connection may be the culprit? Hi dunno if you can help me, I have a 2010 1 series e82, just had both driveshafts replaced and both sensors on the rear,had discs and pads changed aswell,took it for a good long hour drive to check and had same problem as I had before,half yellow engine management light wich is limp mode I believe and the traction light kicking in, before I had the work done had the abs light aswell as the traction, so no idea what is up ?

I love your videos - i got an issue like that and i came to ask where the pump was located - my abs flashes and then reduces power as if you were doing 70mp straight down to 40, but when i press the DTC button no issues at all.

Thanks for the vid mate. I checked the front abs wheel speed sensors and they're sparkly clean. Connected scanner tool and it shows front right side wheel speed sensor fault (Code 5DA6) which has got me confused now. Mechanic says my front right suspension is in a bad state (left is alright) and I've seem it too, so maybe thats causing this 'contact' issue and abs lights coming on. What'dya think? Thanks!

If it’s on the front I would just replace the ABS sensor that should sort your problem out it’s very unlikely to be the ring, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Check the connections where the abs sensor connects to the car, had that where water Ingress corroded terminal 👍🏻👍🏻🛠

I was driving home last week and got a random ABS light, followed by DTC light, Tyre Pressure Monitoring light and I also noticed cruise control wouldn’t work either. CC ID 236 CC ID 50 From what I can gather, any ABS defect that requires input from a wheel speed sensor is disabled until the root problem is fixed. Gonna give this tip a go and will report back.

@@sunzalea3257 No. I tried the other ‘fix’ recommended which was to unplug the ABS unit, clean the contacts and then connect/disconnect the plug a few times. This fixed it.

This is doing my head in, turns on after driving, you can cancel it using the 3 seconds press on DTC, BUT so far changed drivers side CV shaft (with induction ring) AND new sensor for that side, does this mean its the other side for defo? or could it be faulty wiring to the ABS sensor?

Battery is not sufficently charged...happened me yesterday...battery eventually died..car not cranking..just clicks...got it jump start from bonnet..all lights disapeared

Hi, i got the same lights pop on my cluster, i just tried this method but no change. i got the car scanned and the mechanic said most like likely ABS pump or jump box. Also a few days after the warning lights popped up i was driving to garages and all of a sudden the glove box area started to let smoke out with burring smell. I had the rear passenger side ABS ring and sensor changed 3 months prior, (after market off eBay), could that be the culprit or do you have any suggestions?

Hi! I’ve been having problems with the same lights that you get on your dashboard. It started when I changed to my winter tires and my DSC started blinkning while I was driving 120-130 km/h. After that I cleaned the ABS sensor and put a brick there and then when I started the car all those three lights came up. Then on Carly I got 005DC3 (right side back speed sensor) then I changed the abs sensor, still same fault. The I changed the abs ring and same again. Aftet that I changed the sensor again but same problem... what would you suggest?

@@filipvajda7835 Hi, did you manage to fix it? I've got a similar issue, rear right, changed the ring and sensor, still same fault, changed the sensor again, changed to another sensor, same fault. I doubt three (four with the first sensor) different sensor, different make are fault. I then put a front ABS sensor with a 8mm distance only to test something, guess what? It worked!! I've no idea why the ABS unit didn't accept the 3-4 different rear sensors but accept a front sensor but for now thats my temorary workaround.

Gonna give this a go later! Changed my front sensor twice now! Replaced with an ATE one! All lights still on dash and now lost speedo and mpg too! Any ideas?

Interesting tip and amazing if this helps some people out. I have the ABS issue on a 2007 E90 330D which my BMW tech friends have checked out and identified that the hydro needs replacing which is apparently a very common fault which will cost around £2k for BMW to fix. Is it worth me trying this or is their diagnosis nothing to do with this issue?

@@aaanton11 Well I gave it a shot reseating the connector but no change unfortunately. I think my problem is sensors in the hydro. Refurb job for me then. Could I get a mobile mechanic to remove the unit with the car in situ then send it off and get it refit later on or does it need to go up on a ramp? Thanks for the tip to try.

I've had the lights on mine aswell I tried video above and didn't work. Followed another video on here tapped the pump about 10-15 times with screw driver then pulled away with a spin, all lights GONE Try it 👌

Hi I have a problem with my abs light-traction control etc. My DTC keeps engaging while I'm driving. I hold DTC down for 5 secs then it drives fine but after a few miles the abs light etc come on like in your video. Drives fine but the lights stay on until I turn off the car. Any help please ? Hello Anton @aaanton11 I want to buy an used BMW 318i 2009 that has ABS light on, as shown in your video. The owner said he replaced the ABS-sensors next to the wheels but the lights are still on. Now I want to try your method but I dont really understand it. As far as I understood the disconnecting, wiggeling and connecting cause kind of a reboot of the whole ABS system, am I correct? im getting these lights on dash to but not straight away i could drive car for 5 mins then they all come on i get loss of power steering gose then my low beams go i thought it was battery so change that it was grand for about 2/3 weeks and its after happing again im going to try this tomre hopefully it works any help would be great

(BMW 335i 2008 convertible) So I had my battery disconnected to recharge then put it back it after driving for a short period.... ABS, traction, and brake all popped up shutting down my vehicle... when I go to start it (starts up shakes then shuts off while the lights stay illuminated) .... any help would be appreciated!

You might need to disconnect the battery again, and clear any EOBD codes, there is a slim chance that the body control module had been damaged, by the disconnection. Thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Hi mate just a question my abs comes on then gose off straight away and also the radio goes off after I stop the car for a bit ans start again no abs light music from the radio. Than after about 5 mins abs light flashes on then goes out and radio stays on but no sound what do you recon pal cheers

Have abs light , DTC light tyre pressure come on. I have swapped the drivers side left speed sensor. The sensor that came out of the rear left I tried in the rear right. I have tried a washer on the rear right abs sensor which makes it worse it's on all the time. So the washer is off and the abs light only comes on about 10-30mph. I have tried the disconnect method under the bonnet the module next to the brake fluid reservoir, this seemed to activate my window wipers but stopped. I thought it had fixed something started the car . Drove 50 meters abs light back on . Is this now looking like a reluctor ring problem? I have an elm327 Bluetooth scanner and a copy of car scanner but need live data not just codes for speed sensor. Anyone got any apps that work that would read live per wheel data?

when i brake as low speed you feel the abs kick in i changed the wheel speed sensor and all the lights are on but no abs working now at all. I put the old on back on lights go off but the abs kicks back in at low speeds again. I am so lost now what to do. I have spent so much on this car and i just dont know what to do. When i pluged the car in it said the left front wheel speed sensor has different readings as low speed thats why i changed it but as i said all the lights are on with the new one and now abs at all. HELP

The bulbs are good. I just replaced all brake pads and brake wear sensor. The orange triangle with 360° warning light along with brake light on still there (this is before brake change. I tried your method didn’t work neither.

Sounds like you need to repair or replace the steering angle sensor, it’s behind the steering wheel 👍🏻🛠

Will this work if i have all my other lights on too? I have break lights on too ugh i need car inspection

Can't find the abs connector

Hi aanton, i have a similar issue with my bmw e90 msport 2016, my mechanics have checked the ABS pump, ABS sensors and rings. The issue is that my car shuts off while driving especially in hot weather, i get the cruise control warning light, Traction control light comes on as well as the ABS light.....the car has been scanned but no fault codes come up. Any ideas?

When you say it shuts off, does it cut out, of is it a lack of power as if the traction control is kicking in👍🏻

@@brightondube1512 you have most probably 3 recalls I just got mine done was a problem with the battery terminal heats up and missed connection contact BMW say your car lost control just shut off for no reason and they have it recovered and give you rental car as well happen to ne aswell

abrahim younas hows it, my issues had been sorted after changing sensors and the vvt and all I find out it was the ECU which was water damaged, thanks a lot though guys

A have the same problem, i check the fuse 67 and no current on pins, What can i do?

@@aaanton11 I did it, I cleaned all the sensors as my scanner doesn't give which one is bad, it was the back driver's sensor that was really dirty, it was my last bet before buying the 4 sensors. Thanks again.

So I did this, it actually worked for a while..then it came back...I will do a scan and report back!!!

I’m having a problem with resetting a p1774 code on my ‘09 328i. I replaced the rear left wheel sensor and did your little trick and for some reason the code won’t erase. Any suggestions??

I got my drive shaft changed other day (rear - left) which is what was coming up as the problem on the diagnostic, been out on motorway today and it's doing again with the traction contorl light flashing and loosening power, I turned the DTC off and that worked for a while then came to some lights and setting off everytime I touched on the accelerator I was getting a tapping/rattleing noise only a low speed tho and the revs was fluctuating up and down, I do think I need some new discs and pads on the front tho as I'm getting a vibration in the steering wheel when breaking, do you think that could be the cause for traction light coming on? Drives like a bag of spanners at the min I derdent go anywhere in it now incase it concs out lol do you think maybe doing what you did in this vid would work for me? Thank you

It wont be the brake discs causing the abs fault, you definitely need to read the eobd codes again to pin point which wheel sensor/ abs ring is at fault, might even be a poor connection on the sensor wire plug, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

hello bro. i have broblem on my bmw e90 2008 . In hot weather, when I drive on the road, these 3 sensors suddenly light up, then turn off, after 2 minutes, they light up again, if I don't stop the car and turn off the engine, the steering wheel hardens, then the battery lights up and turns off the car by itself. When I want to turn it on, the car does not start, as if the battery is dead. I remove the minus cable and connect it back again, then I start the car with the battery Jumper, I changed the battery but after 2 days the same problem happened to me. What could be the fault?

Gonna go try this now, mine are on and when I got to 60mph the Speedo would turn off and the fuel gauge would go mad going up and down I’ve just changed the abs sensor on the back right wheel and that has solved the Speedo and fuel gauge issue but the abs light is still on I will try this now and I’ll get back to you with what happens otherwise my next option is to change the other abs sensor

@@aaanton11 didn’t work but was definitely worth a try I checked the area and it was all really dry so that’s a good sign, I’ve had loads of problems with this car electrically I’ve almost changed everything, had to change the ecu which is the opposite side had a crack in the cover so water was leaking in and corroded the ecu I’ve sorted all that out, had blown units on the control module under the fuse box had to send that off to be repaired im now having problems with the lights so need to send off the footwell module for repair hoping maybe that might contribute towards the abs sensor?? If not then it’s got to be the other sensor on the other side didn’t have time to change it today as it got dark but will definitely do it this week, I had the abs sensor in the master cylinder changed a few years back so I know it’s not that as I was still able to turn the abs sensor on and off, I’ve changed the fuse box as well, had to change the main wire that goes from the battery to the starting motor on the front as my rear lights leaked and the battery compartment filled with water corroding the cable ends and knackering the batteries I’ve drillled holes and inserted gromits so that any water on the road can’t run up inside of it but the water inside will drain away keeping the battery protected from water so as you can see the car has become a money pit but I’m to determined not to give up on it like I normally do, mechanically though the car runs like a dream, I feel as though I’m very close to having everything sorted, my suspicions is that the car had maybe been flooded at some point but I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@conquester4890 iv got similar issues, with Airbag light on, ABS, Handbrake, Speedo not working, Fuel Gauge going mad, did you manage to fix it all? i had the rear left ABS sensor and ring changed before the issue 3 months ago with Ebay parts you think it could be that and it all started during the cold/snow. No idea where to start bloody electrical issues!!

@@sufzyyyy yeah I sorted it was the ABS sensor on the back you need to change them on both sides they’re just held into the back of brake callipers with 1 bolt I had to change both then drive around for 5 minutes for the dashboard to resolve itself, I found out what caused mine there’s a box that the other end connects to the other wire in and the cover had completely gone leaving the wires completely exposed even though the arch has a cover on the water off the road can still go through it and managed to soak the wires, it’s all linked so it will either be them, the abs relay or the abs sensor under the bonnet, it’s an easy fix

My Z4 E89 after several minutes driving abs lights all come on. Restart clears them. Still haven't found the cause. I pulled and clean that black plug, reinstalled back to old 30g relay. Still no joy.

You will need to pull some codes from the ECU using the code reader to give you a good idea as to what is wrong. Usually it’s going to be the ABS rings if the fault happens when you start driving Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

update i scand with odb showed abs sensosr rear lwft have replace it,cleard faults but its coming up again...the abs ring was dirty i didnt clear that can this be why is showing the fault again?

I’ve just got the same issue on my 2006 320d just tried this and no change still have the issue

When u try connecting the scanner for the codes, were u able to connect to abs pump? I tried scanning error but scanner can’t communicate with abs.

You might have a issue with the abs ecu/pump you can get the unit reconditioned, google it, it’s all done by post, 👍🏻👍🏻

I had the same problem. Did this fix and now I have more problems. My speedometer and fuel milage don't work anymore and thr blinkers don't shut off normally and now my airbag lights are on. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong?

Two comments, 1.) The system seems to be on the left side of the car (U.S. model) so that was a bit funny. 2.) I tried this not once but 2 times and each time took the car around the block for a spin. Neither times worked. I even completely disengaged the connection the 2nd time and blew air into it (connections looked very new actually) and reconnected. Still, the car shows the ABS issues. Any ideas or further options that you feel I can try before I tuck my tail between the legs and take it to a BMW specialist? lol Any comments are appreciative, even funny replies. lol

@@balachow Try putting a scan tool on it to see which sensor may be bad. Start small before getting into the ring on driveshaft or ECU.

LOL the blue BMW you have at the start of this video is my BMW (small world) funny because my bmw has been sitting for a short while now and the abs light has come on a swell. i have pulled the connection and it hasnt done anything, so alas it my be the reluctor ring so here come the $$$

Poor connections can be overcome by a disconnect reconnect, I have come across bad earth & corroded wires on the front abs sensor plugs like in this video, kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6GVs7pmgtmxf6w.html Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
