Bluegrass Pow Wow ~ OCOEE PARKING LOT BLUEGRASS JAM

Ойын-сауық

GRAB YOUR BEST BLUEGRASS BROGANS AND JOIN THIS BLUEGRASS POW-WOW! (720p-HD)
“Pow-wow, a celebration of American Indian culture in which people from diverse indigenous nations gather for the purpose of dancing, singing, and honouring the traditions of their ancestors.” (Encyclopedia Britannica)
The same definition could be applied to the Ocoee Parking Lot Bluegrass Jam when speaking about the culture of Bluegrass Music which has a rich history of music and dance that can be traced back to England, Ireland, and the mountains of Appalachia.
To "pow-wow" is also to gather and reach an agreement on an issue. After seeing this video, you may agree there is no issue about the fine vocal harmony of Judie and Jack Lewis, Phil Gregory, and Doug Buchheister.
Jam sessions are for players to interact with other players and make music in a freewheeling environment, without having to be concerned about performing for an audience. Some jams are impromptu, one-time occurrences, while others are weekly events that may happen in a private setting or in a public venue. Jams may focus on a particular style of music or even a particular instrument, and every jam has its own culture and etiquette.
As you watch THE OCOEE JAM, keep in mind this is an OPEN jam. It is not a rehearsed performance. Each picker, in turn, chooses a tune, and he or she sings or plays it accompanied by all the other pickers. Everyone gets a chance no matter the skill level. It seemed that this Jam was composed mostly of experienced pickers. The Jam meets every Friday evening at 6:30 in the parking lot behind the Pizza Hut at 10870 West Colonial Dr., Ocoee, Florida 34761.

It was mighty nice of Judie to come out of retirement and join the pickers with some of her great harmony. She hadn't played the bass for some time and shared the load with Cody Nieves and Johnny Adams. Good of you to make note of this.

Thanks for staying in touch. I know the pickers read the posts as they often bring them to my attention. Until next time.

BreeAnna, I never responded to your kind and generous comment until now because I had a major health crisis from which I have never recovered. It’s a progressive neuropathy, and I am looking forward to seeing my heavenly family. I never tire of looking at the parking lot videos, but I can’t go back. The jam is still going strong. Please continue to enjoy the videos; visit the parking lot if you can, and accept my long overdue apology. Vivatones66

  • @vivatones66

Thanks for watching. I did my best from my power chair with a Rode stereo mic for many years until my disability progressed, and I can no longer attend these very active jams. I miss them and my friends very much. If you check out some of the other videos, I hope you will find some to your liking. I tried not to be too intrusive, and in ten years, I never ran over anyone’s toes 😂 Happy 🎄🎄 Giving more thought to your very appreciated comment. See if this makes any sense… The pickers are just there for fun, not performing for video. I try to stay out of their way, like a fly on the wall. So, the jam is always really for their benefit, not mine or the purpose of the video. My videos were intended to be more candid, journalistic but with a movie quality. Sorry for the long explanation.
