Stuff You Feel ~ THE OCOEE PARKING LOT BLUEGRASS JAM

Ойын-сауық

YOU HEAR STUFF YOU FEEL. YOU HEAR IT. YOU SEE THE MOMENT. SOMETIMES THERE IS A SPECIAL BOND BETWEEN PICKER AND MUSIC. WATCH THE FULL VIDEO AND SEE. (720p-HD)
This is one of the many interesting Ocoee jams I have been privileged to record, full of special moments. Much of the unique quality of this particular Friday night’s Jam comes from the caliber of the harmony and the willingness of the pickers to experiment. There is no pay for playing. This is a true “jam” - extemporaneous; all are welcome. The reward is in the music itself. Watch the entire video and see if you agree.
Of note, after a long absence, Rita Ruby has returned to share her immense talent with the Jam. Rita cut her teeth on bluegrass and, in addition to performing internationally, has taught for seventeen years at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music.
Additionally, Sam Stage, accomplished, award-winning young fiddler from Raleigh, North Carolina is seen here.
As you watch THE OCOEE JAM, keep in mind this is an OPEN jam. It is not a rehearsed performance. Each picker, in turn, chooses a tune, and he or she sings or plays it accompanied by all the other pickers. Everyone gets a chance no matter the skill level. It seemed that this Jam was composed mostly of experienced pickers. The Jam meets every Friday evening at 6:30 in the parking lot on the Southeast corner of the intersection of Maguire Rd. and West Colonial Dr. (State Rd. 50), Ocoee, Florida 34761. Look for the shopping center with the Twistee Treat Ice Cream Cone at 1500 Maguire Rd., Ocoee, Florida 34761.
PICKERS:
Jack Lewis - banjo, vocals
Johnny Adams - guitar, mandolin, vocals
Gerald Creed - guitar, vocals
Bill Miller -- acoustic bass
Doug Buchheister - mandolin, vocals
Rita Ruby - vocals, guitar
Tim Clifford - mandolin, vocals
Dr. Richard Gallo - vocal, guitar
Russ White - guitar
Patrick Moran - guitar
Sam Stage - fiddle
Jason VanSteenwyk - fiddle
Jerry Jernigan - mandolin
Larry Edgemon -- banjo
Adam - guitar
Larry Nutting -- guitar

I think the young fiddler, Sam Stage is about 14 or 15. The rest of the pickers range in ages into the 80's. Thank you for your post.

Natalie had some personal business that has conflicted with her participation in the Jam. We miss her too and have kept in touch and expect her return in the near future. Thanks for asking.

Welcome back my friend sorry to hear you have not been well, hope you are fit and well now, you certainly haven't wavered on the jam this is brilliant as I expected some great old songs on this one, takes me back to when I first started watching and listening and enjoying, and I must say they all look as handsome as ever, nice to see some young faces amongst the regulars gives you a warm feeling to think young ones are taking an interest, and I swear my hero Mr Adams just gets better with age like a good whiskey, thanks for posting you take care of your self and please pass on my best wishes to one and all your friend Jeff UK.

I've needed a bit of Bushmills and honey with my bluegrass the last few weeks. The going is still rough. Couldn't make it to tonight's Jam. We'll hope for the best. As always, thanks Jeff for your generous thoughts, always welcome.

I don't know when that will be, Dave. I'm fighting the flu, but the issues go beyond that and affect my video ability. I must thank God for the blessings I have enjoyed and press on. I will look to my faith for direction and will continue to respond to my friends' comments for inspiration.
