This song was NEVER in a movie, Justin, the lead singer wrote this song for his mom.

Man this song makes me tear up for free lol. From what I know, this song is about him trying to get his mother to hate him so she can move on/stop caring about him and stop being hurt by his actions, as I believe he was addicted to some form of drug at one point as well as suicidal, and she had to deal with him overdosing and what not many times. The voicemail machine you see is in reference to the messages his mom would leave him when she was checking up on him, and the ladies voice you hear at the beginning and end is an actual voice mail from her. I’m unsure if she is still alive or not, but as you said the people who can still love you even through all the mistakes you’ve made is a true gift from god that many are unfortunate enough to not have. The only other song I know from them is Into The Ocean which is a good one. Also, I know you like rap and hip hop, have you ever heard of Run The Jewels? I got into them recently over this last year and man the stuff off RTJ4 I feel you’d love if you haven’t heard of it already. So much commentary on what happened last year, and some of the sickest beats in the industry. I’d love to see you react to JU$T if you could. Keep up the good work brother!

Justin actually went on record to say that he wrote the song for a real good friend who supported him when he was starting out, and kept his spirits up when he was at his lowest. Once Calling You became a massive success for the band and put them on the map, he basically got an instant ego and shunned everyone away. He even quoted to tell his one friend basically "Fuck you, I'm Justin Furstenfeld. I wrote Calling You, I'm amazing". After realizing that he was pushing away the ones he was closest to, he wrote this song to her to apologize for the way that he acted. He's always been a fragile person, so he took a small piece of happiness and ran with it, not understanding that he was caught in a cycle of negativity. Glad to see that he is in a much better place nowadays.

Justin wrote this as am apology to the same girl he wrote CALLING YOU for. Plus it portrays him killing and burrying his old self. He has 9 yrs sober. His mom is well and alive tho he did just lose his dad last yr. This song was played alot on radio when it came out. Cool reaction. New sub. Check out his song fear. Its the first song he wrote after getting clean. Very inspirational.

American Pie Wedding had their song Calling You in it. You were close

The answering machine is symbolic as the message flipped a switch inside of him. It made him realize that he was not hurting just himself, but all those in his circle. The grave he visits is also symbolic as it represents his old life and burying all the demons that once dwelled inside him

Was digging this, and you straight up interrupted the most powerful line in the whole song.

I found Blue October back in 2006 with this being the first song i ever heard. Definitely helped me through a very rough patch in my life.

This song is so personal to me. Thank you for listening. It’s so meaningful. It is the story of my life. ❤ The fact that you didn’t budge and just listened intently tells me everything I need to know about you.

Their official Live version of "Light You Up" will blow you away. Please do it! Also, their song Fear is the flip side to this on. This was at Justin's worst. Fear is about making it out of the darkness he lived in most of his life. So I recommend Fear as well.

This band is so amazing. Listening to their music is like going on a journey thru his life. And he came out ahead! The two songs mentioned above are definitely songs you should react to. But there are soooo many more as well. The Worry List. Break Ground. The Feel Again. Are just a few. Plus the new album This Is What I Live For. And they are working on a new one now!!!

It makes me cry Everytime !! Cuz I've been there I'm a recovering alcoholic & drug addict. Plus I'm bipolar 1 with a lot with that. Been in many relationships that I almost lost my life lost myself. Now I'm sober for myself & my kids & grandbaby. My mom stepdad so this song hit home in everyway I still have my mom and everyone Thank God!! Great job he sings it where it takes ur breath away and makes ur heart soul and mind cry..

I wasn't going to like or comment but when you stopped and realized what you heard. When I first heard it and understood the message. All I wanted to do is call my mom and tell her I love and appreciate everything she did.

he choose suicide so mom can rest assured peacefully, yes it was selfish of him but he did whatever he thought was best for his mom, in the video he is walking down the stairs and you see his mom holding him, he says with a side heart i say bye to you and waved, and hes walking out the door think of it he is going into the light when exiting the house, cause he thinks he fixed it and his mom says how can you do this to me, its really noticeable in the video. He wanted his mom to be happy. My assumption was that he fell back into his old ways cause of addiction. He just didn't want her seeing him struggle throughout it. Just piece the video visualize it first and tell me you see it how i do the song is so emotional but when he is singing it you can feel hes not only singing it but feeling it in emotions like its actually happened and this is his sorry to her through music video and how he truly actually feels. Just visualize it and listen to the real actual emotions in his voice seriously ❤😢 Also, the tape recorder he's holding through the video im assuming hes recording his reasons why he what he did and thats why at the end places it on his grave then you see it back inside what im assuming the families house, which leaves you to belive she heard it and thats where it'll stay thats what im assuming 😢😢
