Blood Mountain Then The Highest Point in Georgia

The Florida trip is now in the books and unfortunately I have to head home for a week or so in order to handle more adult responsibilities like getting an updated driving license, renewing a couple of other licenses, renewing my car registration, and more. I'll have to mail back the Oru kayak as well and then swap out gear to bring my Tucktec folding kayak. I'm also preparing for the next big adventures so I'm swapping out the bed in my car for a bigger one and getting a bunch of fishing gear ready for 2024!
On the way I drive through northeast Georgia and one of my to do items was to drive up to Spring Mountain trailhead. I walked up the approach trail from Amicalola Falls so I'm curious what the drive is like. For those of you unfamiliar with the Appalachian Trail it's an about 2197 mile trail starting at Spring Mountain heading north through 14 states and ending with a grand finale at Katahdin in Maine.
In 2022 I thru hiked the entire trail and vlogged every day. Here's a playlist if you'd like to check it out!

It’s so nice to see you back on the AT. I’m surprised I feel so moved by it. I’ve been following your adventures for a few years now, and your personal expression has touched so many of us. Yes. Welcome home.❤

Good to see you back in your comfort zone, Jay. I’d imagine you are somewhere now in the line of next Monday’s “Great American Eclipse”. If not, go for it man!!!

First Juniper Run and now Blood Mountain. You are hitting all my favorite places from years gone by. There is not a mountain that I have climbed more than Blood Mountain. I have long lost count. I've been up there multiple times when it was clear enough to see Atlanta, and I have also been up there multiple times when it was in the clouds. I enjoy both experiences. I moved away almost 18 years ago now. I didn't realize it had been that long. Both videos brought back a lot of fond memories

Your videos are so interesting to view - when you walked the AT several years ago, I got so involved with your hikes. The cloud coming in through the window is amazing. Those buds at 7:40 are of mountain laurel, probably a month before they are fully bloomed.

Best of wishes to you and intentions to achieve your goals 👏🪬🕉️♾️ just a lil fyi the approach trail in Northeast Ga is Springer Mountain and is also kosher to begin your NOBO thru hike if you don’t want to go through all the miles and or climb up the massive knee wrenching stairs, water crossings and other obstacles that actually aren’t considered the beginning of AT thru hike to Maine.. Springer Mountain may have switchbacks and a few miles toward before your journey begins, but it’s an individual experience, unique and personal, definitely respected!!!
