Hadrien Feraud is undoubtedly one of the pioneers of modern electric bass. Having played with the likes of John McLaughlin, Chick Corea and Hiromi, Hadrien is also an established artist in his own right having released 2 albums to critical acclaim.
I managed to catch up with him backstage at Melbourne's Bird's Basement jazz club while he was in town with the Zawinul Legacy featuring Scott Kinsey and Kirk Covington from fusion legends Tribal Tech. In this interview we chat about Hadriens musical journey, his love for Jaco, soul and rnb and also what he thinks about the impact of social media on the modern musician.

Really glad you enjoyed it, thank you for the kind words!
Hadrien, you should`n`t pay attention to others so much, I love your grooving as much as your soloing and you are a great inspiration to me.
Jaco is a legend because of his arrangements and great compositions besides having brilliant chops. Great Songs will keep your legacy alive 100s of years after you're gone. Hadrien is one of my favourite soloist. Praying for a great tune from Hadrien.
Interviewer is a real pro facing another real pro and the result is a great interview . Thank you very much .

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Really good stuff, nice to see an interview that focuses on the actual person rather than the chops!
@hadrienFeraud - fitting the music is what makes a musician a musician. And you're a great musician. And you have a pile of chops and vocabulary, and that feeds into your musical creations. I especially appreciate the recent music that I've been hearing you make, where your solos are less a (brilliant!) collection of phrases, and more an open journey of inspiration. Thanks!
Great interview of a great musician.
Great job, really enjoyed this one!

You're welcome man! It was a pleasure to sit down with Mr. Feraud!
GREAT INTERVIEW!!!!!!!
Great interview man.
Hadrien's got great music in his head. He's an amazing improviser and composer as well as a great groove player. Dig both his albums.
Hadrien has so much humility it is amazing
What he said at 24:47....I've been advising that to students forever... since 2010! it's very important to have something else. One of the the best drummers in the world Ralph Peterson does TaeKwonDo outside of music and it helps him to be a better musician. You have to have other things, something that will help you to keep a handle on what you are most interested in , so that it doesn't end up being the thing that destroys you.
nice interview
Excelente entrevita. Muestran a Hadrien en sus distintos roles como músico. Gracias.

Is he pointing out that you can´t achieve a certain stage of musicianship after the age of 35?
i love Feraud - but when you just talk - better don't have the instrument in your lap coz the viewer expect music ....
