Great conversation. Garry has stayed one of my idols since I started playing bass in the late 80’s. INXS were one of the best and fun live bands I’ve ever seen! Super tight! And yes, having one of the best male vocalists fronting this gang did help a bit of course. 😄 I’m seriously considering checking out Garry’s basses when my cash flow allows me to! Having just the one versatile quad pickup in the right spot there just beats having two pickups, I think. Having two of those powerful beasts pulling the strings would (potentially) make for a serious tone sucker! I’m mostly a Fender / MusicMan player and when I tried a 2HB MusicMan StingRay once, I knew for sure: nope, this ain’t gonna work... But then again, I don’t know how powerful exactly Garry’s pickups really are compared to the MusicMan’s. Having the option of a extra single coil in the bridge position could work imo. My former bass teacher used to have an old Fender Telecaster bass from 68/69 that he put a extra Jazz pickup in wich sounded great with the original P single coil: like a filthy jazzbass. But, I think most PJ basses (except for Spectors and Yamaha BB’s) only sound great with the pickups wired in series, because in the standard parallel wiring you loose too much mids you actually really need in most situations... 🖖
That Dark drive sounds fiiiiiiilthy!
thanks sir !
Sic review 🤘
Thanks!
I’m planning to purchase the standard 200w head for rehearsal and gigging. Does anyone have experience with it? Any info will be appreciated.
Yes I’ve used that! As long as you are running some good efficient speakers it should be able to keep up in most situations:)
Great amp! Sounds fantastic, and so many features. Really good demo too.
@@Belman5 thanks for the feedback!
Great playing Craig - the F bass just plain rocks! It sounds like the amp is a real Chameleon, and I like all the tones and styles you are demoing here. Well done, buddy!
Thanks very much! The F Bass does indeed rock and the Katana was a breeze to dial in different sounds!
Most people doesnt owns a f bass this is not a fair demo
What Fodera?
Another 500w class D? Nothing new with that. Someone needs to INNOVATE!
How many bass amps include a cabinet calibration button??
@@Basslessonsmelbourne nice, but I think programmable internal Boss effects would be much more valuable
Some Rumbles do this but not all…
Did you watch the video? I demonstrate octave, compression, overdrive efffects
Love the tone. Nice and taut bottom end with warmth too.
Thanks for listening!
You had me at built in octave 💃🏼
Great demo Craig. Some nice features that set it apart from the pack!
Thanks! 👍
Thanks for sharing this and the walkthrough
No problem 👍
Nice demo, is that 212 Cab from Venture series?
Thanks! Sure is! It’s the VB212
Great review as always, Craig! Any interviews coming down the road?
@@JoshuaPickenpaugh sadly nothing confirmed but got a couple on my radar :) thanks for tuning in!
Great review Craig. Nice amp by the sounds of it!
Thank you kindly!
Sic demo!
Thanks!
I love how he talks openly on how it is difficult to make a living as a musician, it has never been easy, only big names and famous singers are making a living out of it. The rest is just trying and it is becoming more and more difficult.
Garry Gary Beers, 🎸🎸🎶🎵🎼 INXS forever 👏👏 Love 🇧🇷 Brasil
I was at the Weekend Wogan show when Brian May was on. I'd known Elio Pace for a while then, and met Neil a few times (I am also a bass player) and been to see Elio's tour with the Billy Joel Songbook. The next time I saw Elio play, I noticed that Neil was absent. Elio said, 'Neil's got another gig tonight. Madison Square Gardens with Queen!' Neil still plays with Elio. Lovely man.
Some beautiful playing at 10:00
Thank you!
Epic stuff and great playing! Thanks for the great video
Thanks man!!
Overall a great video. FINALLY someone played some blues in a Demo. Too many Slap or funk videos. I'm looking at purchasing the U5 next week (July, 2024) as my very first bass. After a very long research process, this bass makes the most sense for a beginner with a little better budget. Now my one gripe about most Short Scale reviews, like @BassedInVegas stated, and I blame Leo Fender for starting this stigma. Short Scale basses are not (just) for Kids! I saw you added a Special Thank You to your mate who lent you the U5. I too have health issues, but even my friends who have been playing Guitar and/or Bass for decades have pointed out, Short Scales have a lot to offer, without much of a loss. If Leo Fender would have marketed them as alternative option to a 34" scale, instead of as a "kids toy", I think we wouldn't be having these comments today. ANYWAY... good video.
@sirdude555 You hit some good points! There is certainly an undeserved stigma with short scales. I own short scales and the U5 and here's where it rests with me: Comfortable playing (lighter weight, ergonomics, easier reach and bendability) and it has a solid bass sound. Put it through a good amp with a good player and you'll get great results. The final sound is what matters. Do a blind test with a band or recording studio and would people really be able to tell it was a short scale? I wouldn't think so.
Thanks for taking the time to make this demo, not a lot of ‘em out there. Considering the 12 to matchup with a 1200w 2x15 vintage cab… sounds tuff at 3:24 with the SGT engaged thru the mic and at 3:58, again really appreciate the vid.
Sounds like a great idea! Glad you enjoyed the video
Oh man! Now I’ll have to sell stuff so I can get one of those beautiful basses without my wife killing me! Pretty sure simply picking her favourite colour wouldn’t cut it.
I just bought one of the 2023 model Diamond’s and it might be one of the best compressors I’ve ever used. Very transparent, incredible sustain. Super nice.
That pickup is stunning. Wish it was available aftermarket!
You and me both!
Amazing sounding, but speaking as a competent bass player, this is out of my league price wise. If however the pick-ups were offered by themselves in order to mod a bass, would happily part with my money.
One thing that really blows me away is that (excluding the elusive XS-58) EVERY color, EVERY body style, EVERY finish and EVERY neck has been made available left-handed. Thank you for caring about us lefties, Garry. I hope that Sir Paul buys one of each!
Love it!
Exceptionally well done
Thank you!
Great stuff from Warwick - just matched my gnome v2 pro head with 2x8 cab…such beautiful tone and the EQ works so well. Home set up 10/10 can’t wait to play against bad in rehearsals and see how it goes live
@12:21 I love this comment about "rising to the occasion" b/c as much as I got my rocks rolling and my naive HS/JV music phase from listening to SP, they just made me want other things musically after a while. They introduced me lots of other music, and jam behaviors, but I started realizing that the group is not a perfect ensemble. Especially when the role of leadership is simply held down by the instrumentation. I can play Mike under the table if it came to solos, jazz, intention, but his band is delivering the best of the band sound in the songs. the performance is less intentional.
I watched this guy play live yesterday here in Brazil. Just awesome!
Love these amazingly talented guys. Sounds like evryone is enjoying a break from live work, let's hope it's temporary :-)
1:00 most of us bassists begin with guitar, and then when there are too much guitarists around, we "upgrade" to the bass guitar :) probably because we are brave enough to 😅❤
For months I've been flip flopping on getting something the Helix, or Axe FX, but I think this would actually be perfect. I knew I could count on you for a solid review, Craig. Thanks.
Let me know how you get on and enjoy those saved $$!
This has been the best review for this multi effect so far. It won’t replace my favorite pedals. In a pinch, this is good enough for certain situations. Thanks .
Crazy demo, really made me want one lol
BLEEEEEEND! Sold.
I could barely hear any difference...
welcome to the MACHINE☠⚡♈
Knocks my Boss GT-1B into the dust but I don't need to update
So this thing has different bass cab tones too like the hx stomp?
Yeah it does!
I have a Boss ME 50 guitar multi effect I got 25-30 years ago when I was learning guitar before I became obsessed with bass and crossed over to the dark side! It works, but lacks the sonic detail of Boss's dedicated bass pedals. If it's all you have it still rocks!
Knocks my Boss GT-1B into the dust but I don't need to update
Thank you demoing clean tones!
Really need a couple of good synth sounds, a la I Wanna Dance With Somebody and 24K Magic. I get the feeling that Boss has never progressed in the synth tone department. I still use an ME-50B and have an SY-1, so that is my perspective. My board is failing on the footswitches (mainly the 2nd one that cycles the synth/distortion), so I need something like this. I love having a volume/expression pedal built in. You did a great job in showing the strengths. The sad part is that you ignored what I'm after, which doesn't bode well. But you were very good and honest. Thank you!
Best option is to try one for yourself and see if the synth sounds do what you need! Thanks for watching :)
Great Demo. AWESOME Bass Playing! Keep up the good work!
I would definitely keep the OC-2 Octave on hand, it sounds killer.
I need to get into the habit of commenting at the end of the video & not somewhere in between. With that said, I still found this video fricken awesome! Like I said before, "Great Demo. AWESOME Bass Playing! Keep up the good work!"
