One thing that really blows me away is that (excluding the elusive XS-58) EVERY color, EVERY body style, EVERY finish and EVERY neck has been made available left-handed. Thank you for caring about us lefties, Garry. I hope that Sir Paul buys one of each!
That pickup is stunning. Wish it was available aftermarket!

Did loads of gigs with GG back in the 70s & 80 before INXS became huge. These basses look and sound fantastic, nice review. I want one! The XS3

Glad you like them!
Oh man! Now I’ll have to sell stuff so I can get one of those beautiful basses without my wife killing me! Pretty sure simply picking her favourite colour wouldn’t cut it.
Love the fact you've reviewed this bass man. Gary is one of my favourite bass players. I can't afford one of these right now but does this one ever sound so cool!

Ah thanks man! Nice spot with the Alien T Shirt ;)
Is this inspired on the same idea as the G&L L-1000? A humbucker in p-position? What would be the differences?
@Basslessonsmelbourne

No it’s a totally different design. The L1000 is a killer bass but it doesn’t offer traditional split humbucker (p bass configuration) in regular or reverse, like the GGB basses can. Thanks for watching!

@@Basslessonsmelbourne The possibility of split coil is definitely a fantastic addition. In that regard, it would be nice to hear an example of it with the tone down, to see whether it can do Jamerson sound convincingly. Would you say that, the pickup being by nature much hotter than a 60s split p, will struggle to convey some of that vintage p wool?
@Basslessonsmelbourne

@@UriSala good question! The pickup is definitely on more of the aggressive side, but a lot of that 60s wool is down to muting, technique, old strings, recording techniques etc as opposed to just the pickup. As you can hear it does a decent job at being a P pickup, so theoretically you should be able to adapt it to whatever flavour of P you like.

@@Basslessonsmelbourne Is this pickup for sale by itself? I read somewhere Nordstrand helped Garry with the final development...Do you know of a Nordstrand pickup with the same possibilities?
@Basslessonsmelbourne
5 ай бұрын
@@UriSala At the moment the pickups are not available seperately as Garry says they are designed to work together. I know there are Sadowsky basses with Nordstrand designed pickups of a similar design so maybe you could investigate that?
Amazing sounding, but speaking as a competent bass player, this is out of my league price wise. If however the pick-ups were offered by themselves in order to mod a bass, would happily part with my money.
Cool! Overall the Fender slant is (IMHO) totally counterproductive adding bite where it’s needed the least. And the same goes for fullness. Reverse or no slant really is better.

So you prefer the reverse P sounds and the single coil tones?
Sounds great, but I won´t buy a new bass (or a car) with scratches. Matter of taste
It sounds just as boring as a Fender.
