Yeah, ZUN (the creator of the Touhou games), is an enormous Jojo nerd. Sakuya is an homage to Dio Brando, to the point that one of her spell card attacks in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and the fighting games is literally called 'the World'. She also has an alternate skin in the fighting games that's a reference to part three DIO.

The maid is essentially Dio…. except for more broken. She can do a lot of stuff with time. She is only human though so she is outclassed by a lot of the creatures in the games and series.,

If memory serves, all of that stuff concerning the Dio comparison was intentional on ZUN's part, up to and including the fact she serves a vampire. I don't care much for the Jojo series, so I don't know much beyond that.

Dio inspired Sakuya.

Pretty sure that opening recap was a parody of Dragon Ball Z. I picked up on the fact that the music sounded EXTREMELY close to the "recap opening" music of DBZ. All it was missing was a title screen with the dragonballs and the name of the episode. haha.

Now this is something I've been waiting for you to get back to. Lol. Well back to my breakdown duties. Lol. 5:30 Right the opening trio. Firstly we have the woman sitting on the left. She is called Ran Yakumo and is the Kitsune Shikigami of the woman on the right. Her duties are effectively being an assistant and will aid her master in whatever way is needed. So lets talk about her drinking companion and possible the most important character in the whole of Touhou beside Reimu and Marissa. Yukari Yakumo! She is the Youkai of Boundaries and is the one responsible for splitting Gensokyo off from the rest of the world. She is a troublemaker and incredible lazy. Although I've heard theories this could be because of the massive strain maintaining the boundary is. Anyway she is usually found drinking, eating or sleeping in her own pocket dimension away from everyone. Then finally we have Chen. Also known as The Black Cat of Ill Omen. Ran's beloved little twin-tailed catgirl assistant that she absolutely adores. Think Riko and Kanna from Dragon Maid and you've an idea how Ran acts with Chen. Anyway her role is to be another pair of hands to help with anything Ran needs of her. She is also excessively fast and has the power of jump scares. Lol. Although she is weaker the further she is away from Ran. Oh and here a cute animation showing off how cute she is called Chen's Gensokyo; kzread.info/dash/bejne/hq6L2JJpfqnffqw.html 7:12 Okay this one I shouldn't bother bringing up, but whats happening to her is funny in this scene. On the far right as the pan progresses you'll notice a girl sitting in a bucket getting filled with saki. That is Kisume and her whole deal is being a shy Tsurube-otoshi that hides away in buckets. Which she then uses to hide in dark places like wells. However as you can see unlike a normal Tsurube-otoshi, which are giant disembodied heads that crush people, she has a full body. 7:59 That ineffective little sprog is Rumia. A Youkai with the ability to manipulate darkness, but is overall pretty weak as the episode indicates. She is also not very smart and thus often associates with Cirno. Becoming part of a little group known as the Bakartet by the community. Which roughly translates to the Idiot four. The other two I'll probably talk about another time. 8:21 Now onto a character I spoke about in the last episode. That is Hong Meiling. A Chinese Youkai that some of the other characters just call China. She is a very effective physical fighter, however she is lacking in magical defense. Also you have to remember that the Scarlet Devil Mansion only just showed up. So poor Meiling wasn't expecting the sheer brute magic force Reimu can dish out. Oh and just a reminder she is also narcoleptic and is considered to be 'thigh-rivals' with Chun Li from Street Fighter. 12:19 While anti-climatic I know. That is Patchy's biggest issue. She has power enough to rend the fabric of the universe apart... but she is excessively sickly. She has a weak constitution, asthma, is anemic and has a vitamin A deficiency. So even a regular human from the village with nothing special about them at all is more physically capable then Patchouli in every way. This is another reason she barely ever leaves the library. It's her sanction and home.

@@toshironikko Ah that is a shame, but I can see your reasoning. Though I have faith he'll get back on track eventually. So I'll keep my fingers crossed for more in the future.

Unfortunately that's how "fights" from the point after the next episode will be because it's communicating "play the videogames" since ZUN leaves the details of the story free for interpretation(yeah, there is a general story but the fans fill in the details via their experience of the games.)

(At 10:40) not just a maid. The Head Maid and the only human in this mansion.

Now to wait another 6 months for the finale

(At 8:35) A Chinese Yokai (I think), Hong Meiling. I feel sorry for her.
