That ED was a direct reference to the Kaguya myth that they talked about previously, about Kaguya having to return to the moon and Shirogane said he would have went to the moon and taken her back instead of waiting for her. (They talked about it in the stargazing episode) - the visuals were all directly lifted from Starship Troopers (which I can't believe you haven't seen)

Just a small nitpick. (Or personal interpretation, whichever.) He wouldn´t wait for her to return, sure, but his point was that he would absolutely use the immortality potion to wait as long as he needed to to be able to get her back. In the ED case, wait for advanced enough technology to reach Kaguya´s world/moon.

Finally… the rap episode is one of the best things I have ever seen

You’re definitely right that this series grows on you like a fungus. Don’t even like romance anime, but I started watching S1 as a unique quirky comedy, and then suddenly I was crying over the S3 finale.

Based on Shark's reactions to the Cowrie Shell mentions, I don't think he is aware of the Kaguya-hime myth. Tbf I only know cause of Touhou, lol

The character dynamic you recognize in Miyuki is shared in the male leads of the three other titles that occupy my top tier of romcom anime. Ryuji Takasu (Toradora), Izumi Miyamura (Horimiya),ad Wakana Giji (My Dress Up Darling) all have that dynamic of being better men then they think they are and are working to fit their idea self image.

At last we have made it to the rap episode. Which the fact that Miyuki had to teach Chika to rap so he could learn to rap will never be unfunny. It is probably one of my favorite segments in the series up to the movie.
