Blichmann Riptide unboxing and mini review

Unboxing my mash tun pump, the Blichmann Riptide. Sorry for the background noise, the chiller was kicking on. I will be sure to shut it off from now on.

Nice to know the Riptide will work with a 3/4" hose. I bought two of the Blichmann 1/5 HP, 18GPM nano pumps for my 5bbl brewery and I have 1" hose. My goal is to have my county and state permits soon so I can use this stuff in Sept. Hopefully, I'll get to use the can filler you built me in a few months too.

I'll run some tests with both the pumps on 3/4" tubing and no restrictions on the outlet to see how they do. I think I do have some 1" in the basement, if I can find fittings for it I'll use that and see how they both do. Good luck with the filler, I will be building my self a new one soon. Going back to a really simple single station semi auto to take up less space. I'm running out of room in my little brew area. Good luck with the brewery too! That's awesome that you're almost there!!

If you open the flow control valve all the way and pull it will come completely out for cleaning. You probably had it open all the way to that disassembly point.

Cool video. I just got two Riptides and the Blichmann brew table for the SS 10 gal electric system I purchased. They came yesterday, funny coincidence. Are you planning on mounting your pumps in a more permanent position with your new vessels? Or set them up as you go?

I will build some platforms for them when I get some time. I'll be able to move the little platforms but it'll get them off the ground

I´m sure blichmann pump is really good however I can´t have on/off switch waaay down were my feet is. I have no use for bleeder valve or needle valve on the pump itself. I´m sure all of that is only good for PR. Cheers

I think it'll be nice to have the flow control on the mash tun, sure I can throttle a valve like I always have but I think I'll use it quite a bit. I also like the tri clamp, will make it a breeze to clean the pump. Every couple brew days instead of once a year lol.

I have mine plugged into my controller, leave the pump on all the time and just switch it on and off with the controller.

@@kenhunt Yes, I know that can be the solution, but then this pump looses all the pros
