Blichmann RipTide pump review - better than a March pump?

The RipTide Brewing Pump from Blichmann Engineering is a pump that claims to be designed from the ground-up for home brewers. As a regular user of pumps in my brewing setup I was curious to see if this pump could better my existing March pump solution.

I love my riptide! Cleaning is a breeze. Not sure anyone else does this but I do lubricate the points of contact with food grade keg lube when I reassemble it each time.

Great video. I absolutely LOVE my RipTide pump. Well worth the investment if you’re in the market for a new pump. Keep brewing my friend!

Glad it’s working well for you. I’ve recently finished a brew day with it and, yes, did actually take the 5 minutes to disassemble and clean it :-)

Thanks for the video - really useful, as I’m about to get my first pump. What clamps are you using on the silicon tubing?

Great pump! Make sure you don't lose the thrust washer on the impeller shaft while cleaning. AND they do make an upgrade kit for march and chugger pumps to the chugger triclamp head. Cheers! 👍🍻

I'm looking at getting one of these pumps but have a question. Can the mounting plate underneath be spun round? I'm thinking of mounting it under the counter but would want to spin the plate round so the pump sticks out proud of the counter.

I don’t have this pump any more but I don’t recall that being possible.

A pump or anything near water and electricity should grounded. Is this pump grounded?

Thanks for asking. This is indeed grounded through the Tower of Power and into the wall socket.

Looks great. Probably not worth the upgrade if you already have a fully functioning March pump though.

Might be worth looking at the upgrade kit Blichmann offers for March pumps.

I really wanted to keep watching because I'm interested in this particular pump, but the music in the background was too distracting for me. It also sounds as if there's no windscreen around the mic.

I hear you. Background music is lower and mic is better in the newer videos.
