I remember 1981 ciné visitors were strangely looking at me - while they were leaving the cinema - because I was stil sitting in the cinema chairs listening/enjoying the music of Vangelis for the end titles .. refusing to take the time of leaving …. Just staying back in comfortable chairs and listening to what Vangelis leaved us at the time 38 years ago:)

Vangelis was a Time Traveler Musician. Not by chance, his stage name means, in Greek language, _good messenger; bearer of good news_ He's now playing music with Orpheus.

RIP Vangelis, what an amazing track!!!

My grandfather had this song in a cassette, and I listened to it in the car when I was around 5 years old. I used to called it the "song of the guns". It was probably the cause why I love electronic music so much now. Always gives me Goosebumps.

Yes and Prometheus is great movie. AS are Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator.

The catarsys time its in the credits of the movie,its the only way to stay in the chair from the beginnigs to the end,great times,no digital sound,only analogue and pure talent-artistics musics ,thanks mr vangelis, big hug for you,wherever you are

This movie was mesmerizing in 1981 and now with this incredible composer it still invokes wonder while i listen

Tema intro de "La Portada" - TV Española!

Every time I hear Vangeli's music a joy and sadness emotion overwhelms me.

I wish i could watch the final scene were this track is. I do remind the girl and Harrison were flyng to somewere while this track was playing. For me, the best scene. 54 years ago! Very vivid in my memories!

Cutting edge 80's Greek synth-based electronic music....doesn't it sound glorious!

This is Vangelis, a great case of musician, but not "Greek electronic music", because there wasn't some sort of "wave" or "school". There were some pretty good synth-based Greek electronic bands in the era but not a wave or school. Yanni, Spanoudakis etc are not synth-based electronic music, although Spanoudakis uses some keyboards.

@@thevalueofn6994 There is some Greek influence to some melodies of the movie, it is influenced by Greek Byzantine music, as much of Vangelis work, but that is not "electronic". Just some melody influence. However, on "electronic" there was not "Greek electronic" wave at the time.

That sound "Dee dee diii dii dii doo" is epic. It pushes or drags my mind to some distant past from long gone years, missing all that is gone and forgotten. Even not knowing what that was. Beautiful.

RIP Mr. Rutger Hauer (Roy Batty). Vangelis deserves far more recognition than he gets. Many don't know he's an Oscar winner ("Chariots of Fire") and that he composed many other movie scores including "!492: Conquest of Paradise" (the film was not that good, but the music was terrific).

This full-length version was only released on a bootleg of the soundtrack that came out a few years before the official soundtrack. That bootleg has quite a bit of music that didn't make it to the first official soundtrack. Some of it eventually got released on the second disc of the 3-disc 25th anniversary set, but only an edit of this theme with the middle section edited out (3:40 to 5:33).
