One of the mostly influential sci-fi movies ever. Based on a novel by one of best scifi authors, at least 5 stories of whom have been made into movies.....

Vangelis wrote one of the most beautiful and emotionally powerful soundtracks of all time for this Ridley Scott directed masterpiece featuring dazzling imagery, a rich storyline and strong acting. It still holds up after 40 years.

I also the when first released. It affected me profoundly but the cheesy voiceover was an unforced mistake, it wasn't perfect.. The re-releases several years later corrected it.

Still. A movie I can and do watch again and again!

It's my Dad's funeral on Thursday and we've chosen this for when he's brought in before the service. It was his favourite piece of music, we'll miss you Dad, love you. 😢

It was very important to me and when I look back, one of those fundamental films. I was working at The Burbank Studios at the time which had been and would return to the name Warner Brothers. I was able to walk the empty sets which were amazing and to watch some of the filming. Quite the impressive experience and then to be completely wowed when it came out! When it all comes together with such success - it is rare and wonderful!

Ridley Scott's magnum opus - the best. Questioning our reality, providing deep characters, amazing visuals. People will be watching Blade Runner in 100 years, enjoying it, and marveling at the mastery of the story telling for its era.

This movie was decades ahead of its time. Todays Hollywood should lay attention. Ionivision - post greatly appreciated!

Crying in a parking lot is the first step, maybe the day after you can find someone that can change your life. I think that the real meaning of blade runner is this, a simple love story, exactly when you really think that will be impossible to exist.

Used to go on nightwalks to the blade runner soundtrack. But the best part was the last bit around the park with this song on. It was lonely but a good way and with the music and the darkness, My mind entered this trance like state and life seemed like a dream. Thank you Vangelis for this beautiful piece of music RIP

I feel like you're misinterpreting both characters. Rachael is not really "innocent," which is another factor that makes the fact that she's a replicant even more shocking to her. She is fatalistic and formal. Deckard does not save the day in any way. He is a complex character whose internal questioning leads him to mistreat Rachel and have reservations about his occupation and his interests. He exudes much more frustration than heroism. I don't know which cut of the film you've seen, but in the Final Cut (which is regarded by everyone involved in the film and the majority of people in general to be the greatest version) Deckard's actions leave himself and Rachael basically psychologically broken people by the end of the movie.

RIP Vagelis and many thanks for this wonderful soundtrack

So sad and romantic at the same time, as they know their love is doomed. Not knowing what would happen to them after they got in the elevator was a perfect ending, but they had to go ahead and do a sequel.

2049 was good but you can't beat the lush, noir, opium dream realism of the first one. Villeneuve is great with large brushstroke, landscape cinematography, but Ridley Scott shines in the gritty, personal and street level grounded richness that was sorely lacking in 2049.

The film seems to be the full visualization of the musical notes, or the music, the exact sound of the captured moment. They are inseparable. A splendid film, with an impeccable musical background.

@@vanered7664 Ti ringrazio delle belle parole e rispondo che se io possiedo questa sensibilità, anche tu non scherzi mica. Ci sono colonne sonore, come questa di "Blade Runner" e non poche altre, non solo del grandissimo Vangelis, che ti entrano nelle orecchie, nella mente e anche nell'animo o nello spirito, che ti accompagnano per tutta l'esistenza. Questo vale anche per altro tipo di musica, autori e compositori. In ambito cinematografico, mi piacciono moltissimo anche Ennio Morricone e John Williams. Come dici te "queste melodie fanno amare la vita in tutti i sensi" e, aggiungo io, riescono a darle anche un senso che spesso ci sfugge o non riusciamo a capire, anche a causa di una Società globalizzante che sembra amare di più la sofferenza e la morte, piuttosto che la gioia e la vita. Ovvero, che ha perso le vere priorità dell'esistenza. La Musica e autori come Vangelis, seppur parzialmente, ci restituiscono un motivo per continuare a vivere e sperare in un cambiamento, non solo sociale ma anche e soprattutto interiore.
