Imagine producing a tune so legendary, that you can just name it after one of the instruments, and everyone instantly knows what it is. Like if someone just named a guitar tune "Guitar", and everybody for decades after was like "Oh yeah, 'Guitar', I love that tune."

Speaking only for myself, movies like this make The Shining look like Sesame Street. I come from a religious background and the thought of demon possession rendering someone utterly helpless is terrifying! It is a reminder that there is evil in the world and we will never fully know the depth and power of it. The Amityville Horror was another terrifying movie. Coming from a religious background, the Ouija board was forbidden fruit and it led to experiences that I still shudder to remember, 50 years later. I do love this music?!

He was 19 when this was recorded. Amazing.
A music masterpiece in a masterpiece movie
Iconic song and so easily identifiable which considering how little of it was played during The Exorcist is a testament to it’s unique sound!
Mike Oldfield was a teenager when he put this masterpiece together . There were none of the sophisticated tracking systems of today yet he was able to create this playing every instrument. You must remember, he made this before the movie was made , this wasn't created for " The Exorcist " and there was no Virgin Records , this album was its inception . Presently there are 4 incarnations of Tubular Bells , the original , Tubular Bells 2 , Tubular Bells 3 , The Millennium Bell and a remastered version of the original made in 2003 . Mike said he wanted to use some updated equipment that wasn't available in 72 . It's a superb work with a surprise guest as the Master of Ceremony introducing the instruments, I will not ruin the surprise , but you'll recognize and absolutely love who it is . Also , on Mike's outstanding work , " Songs of Distant Earth , there is a track called " Tubular World " that has our favorite melody in it . If you can , check out the live versions on KZread of TB3 ! Peace and love to all of us Mike Oldfield fans !!!
Mr Oldfield has major talent, I ain't no expert. Max Von Sydow was not old in this movie, that's how artists like Dick Smith worked on makeup. Thank you Mike for creating this piece!

Blasphemous titles claimed for the pope have been embellished and enlarged over the centuries. But a few of these boastful claims appear in an ecclesiastical (Roman Catholic) dictionary, by Lucius Ferraris, entitled _Prompta Bibliotheca Canonica,_ Vol. VI, pgs. 438, 442, article "Pope." _The Catholic Encyclopedia,_ 1913 edition, Vol. VI, p. 48, speaks of this book as "a veritable encyclopedia of religious knowledge," and "a precious mine of information." "The pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God, and the vicar of God." "The pope is of such lofty and supreme dignity that, properly speaking, he has not been established in any rank of dignity, but rather has been placed upon the very summit of all ranks of dignities. . . ." "He is likewise the divine monarch and supreme emperor and king of kings." "Hence the pope is crowned with a triple crown, as king of heaven and of earth and of the lower regions." "So that if it were possible that the angels might err in the faith, or might think contrary to the faith, they could be judged and excommunicated by the pope." "The pope is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful of Christ, chief king of kings, having plenitude of power, to whom has been entrusted by the omnipotent God direction not only of the earthly but also of the heavenly kingdom." "The pope can modify divine law, since his power is not of man but of God." The above quotes are from _What's Behind The New World Order?_ Go to CatholicNewWorldOrder.com and click on the top link. ---------- "I am all in all and *above all,* so that God, Himself and I, the Vicar of God, have but one consistory, and I am able to do ALMOST ALL THAT GOD CAN DO . . . What therefore, can you make of me but God?" -Pope Nicholas, quoted in _Antichrist_ by Ian Paisley, pg. 54. The pope calls himself God, i.e., "Lord God the pope," "another God on earth." "We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty," Pope Leo XIII said in an _Encyclical Letter,_ June 20, 1894. "The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ Himself, hidden under veil of flesh," the _Catholic National_ said in July 1895. And every priest is an "Alter Christus," Another Christ. So every priest is Jesus. Plus, during the Mass the priest transubstantiates the bread into the literal, "real presence" of Christ. In other words, man creates God. "He is the creator of his Creator." _-The Dignity and Duties of the Priest_ by Liguori, Ch. 1, Part IV. How is any of this _not_ blasphemy?! Christianity teaches that the pope is the Antichrist. The proud pontiff's official title is Vicar of Christ, meaning "in the place of Christ." Vicar of Christ translated into Greek is Antichristos, in English Antichrist, also meaning "in the place of Christ." Vicar of Christ and Antichrist are the exact same word in two different languages. Vicar of Christ in Latin is Vicarius Filii Dei, meaning Vicar of the Son of God, or Vicar of Christ. VICARIVS FILII DEI. Add up the 11 Roman numerals and you get 666. Rev. 13:18. angelfire.com/on/3angels Revelation 13. 1 I . . . saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns . . . and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And _the _*_dragon (Satan)_*_ gave him (the beast) his power, and his seat,_ and great authority. 4 And _they worshipped the _*_dragon_*_ which gave power unto the beast:_ and they worshipped the beast . . . 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies . . . 6 And he opened his mouth in *blasphemy against God,* to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, *_Come out of her,_** my people,* that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." Rev. 18:4, 5.

too bad the director and some of the crew were real a-holes for treating the lead female actors horribly on set, giving them both SERIOUS lifelong bodily injuries, and manipulating them into doing large portions of "iconic" scenes without their consent or via subterfuge. I blame Linda Blaire's parents/guardians too for not being more protective. but yeah, the film's content and craft both, especially the theme and subject matter, are dealt with a considerable degree of sophistication, no doubt. the novelist, scriptwriter, screenplay should receive most of the credit for this fact.

XXLSSBBW The Exorcist 2 isn't a comedy spoof... although it may as well be. It's actually meant to be good, it's just that bad.

Greatest Horror movie ever as well as best soundtrack ever. Consequently based on a true story
Came back for some nostalgia after seeing the new Exorcist trailer. This is my favorite horror movie theme of all time.
When I heard this towards the ending of the first episode of The Exorcist TV series, I was moved. This track is so significant and influential that I spent nights listening and contemplating what Mike was thinking when he created this. Magical sound.
Actualidad total en un mundo recalentado espiritualmente. .. la vi en el cine y tantos años después sigue dando miedo ... EXCELENTE MÚSICA Y CREACIÓN.
RIP Max Von Sydow, died yesterday. God bless.
50 years and the song is not a single day too old! This song is a Mona Lisa of the music, always audible and always an example of eternal beauty!
The apartment from _"The Exorcist"_ is just a few blocks from the location _"St. Elmo's Fire"_ was filmed. Rumor has it that if you visit the apartment area, your phone won't receive or allow calls, watches second hands spin uncontrollably and CD players stop playing. However, once you walk past *"St. Elmo's"* bar everything resumes as before. Of course, those are just rumors...
Wow beautiful sound
So good to see scenes from the movie while hearing the music of Tubular Bells -- very well done!
Absolute masterpiece one of the greatest movie 🎥 soundtracks of all time 🌍☀️🔥
The exorcist was and still is one of the most scariest horror movies ever.

56 years old still can't watch it
Este año se cumple el 50 aniversario de esta obra maestra. Mike Oldfield es mucho más que Tubular Bells, escuchad Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Amarok... Y el sencillo Moonlight Shadow. Un genio.

Incantations is his best, for me.
I watched "The Exorcist" 3 times (two on dvd, 1 on tv) and the last time I watched it was June of 2005 (I was 19 years old then, now I am 38) and is questionable why the tv channels stopped broadcasting this movie-masterpiece since then with it great soundtrack. ☹☹☹☹☹
Just the six minutes of this post is enough to send shivers into people's spines. Great movie, great author, makes my high school proud.
Sacary movie level 1000. Fantastic tune and the supreme Masterpiece of terror.
I just wish Mike Oldfield made more music like this.

His early works were all completely amazing. Maybe you'll give Ommadawn a try: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eqCCy4-ziqmcp6w.html

You are talking like this is the only thing he made 😂. Hergest ridge, Ommadawn, Incantations, Platinum... Masterpieces
When this film was released in 1973, was only 10 years old, and my parents didn't allow us to see it. Saw it when I was older and was still terrified.
Timeless classic!
3:35 the biggest chill down the spine in the history of cinema.
INIMITABLE OBRA MAESTRA DEL CINE DE TERROR❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Genius Mike Oldfield ! Greets From Poland ;-)
La máxima obra de arte del más profundo terror, de la historia. No soporto verla sola.

De que trata?
Amazing movie about faith. Just saw this movie again years later and cried my eyes out at Fr Karras death. As a full grown adult I completely understand the pain of lack of faith. Even with all the torture he endured, he got his faith again. God bless. The poor actor suffered though.
It is so wild growing up on Mike Oldfield before seeing The Exorcist, so this song had a 100% different vibe in your head.
"THE BOARD IS SET, AND THE PIECES ARE MOVING"...
One of the best films ever made. RIP William Friedkin.
I saw this movie on opening night, in Westwood, CA. there was such buzz and anticipation. We were waiting in a huge long line. People were running out of tge theater throwing up.
