@@hazoevo3390 A Nexus-9 having to kill a Nexus-8 because the latter was found out, because he dropped his papers whist saving the girl and her mother. "The Power and the Glory" is a classic novel by Graham Greene which depicts the ordeals of an "outlaw" priest in Mexico. K had to retire Sapper Morton at the beginning of "Blade Runner 2049", even though K did not want to. Sapper Morton had dropped his papers, and some A-holes reported him to the Blade Runner Division.

He said he practically cried like a baby when he got cast as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy. And then he dug in, studying on acting as well as the character's story. He takes the work very seriously, no matter the role.

Please, hollywood, give this man more good roles. Dude has acting talent.

So this is why K came for him in the first place? 2049 was a masterpiece and Bautista is a great actor.

Dave Bautista’s acting this short film is better than every film The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) made. *SPOILER WARNING* It’s sad that defending the young girl and her mother ended up getting Sapper Morton killed. If he never saved them, Officer K (masterfully played by Ryan Gosling) would’ve never found him and killed him. What seems to kill replicants is humanity. And what I mean by that is once Replicants start exhibiting human emotions and feelings it’s essentially their downfall. Roy Batty and his gang from the original Blade Runner began to feel arguably the strongest human emotion aside from love, the fear of death. And that causes Leon and Priss to be killed. Sapper Morton felt empathy and compassion which caused him to show up on Officer K’s radar, which got him killed. And Officer K began to view himself as not a thing, but as something alive; and felt love for his holographic girlfriend Joi. With these emotions and feelings he developed, he chose to sacrifice himself to save Deckard and reunite him with his daughter. When replicants begin to feel, they sign their death certificate.

Slapping And Clapping Well, the humans in focus in Bladerunner are pretty human in terms. Wallace and Tyrell are both humans that has a god-like complex because humans long to be god. Deckard's humanity is what causes him to save Rachel and J.F. Sebastian's humanity is what causes him to take in Pris to his home and show her shelter. I mean, most of the Nexus 6 Replicants in the first movie, while showing human-like qualities still fall prey to their artificial human nature.

There aren't many actors out there with the range of Dave Bautista right now. He's so unbelievably natural. He understands the concept of "Don't act like a character; be a character."

Bautista's small scene in the movie was so immense. Not only is he doing a one on one scene with a lifelong actor and holding his own, he actual steals the scene the hardest way possible--through pure emotional gravitas. It was immediately impressive to watch. I seriously put it up there with that Christoph Waltz scene that's so impressive in Inglorious Basterds

He needs more roles, he's a good actor

Dave Bautista has really grown as an actor, already having roles in 3 big franchises, excited to seeing this movie now.

NO one messes with Drax's wife and kid.

These shorts are by Luke Scott, director of the Alien Covenant shorts, and Morgan. But, yeah, the actual film itself looks amazing as well. Denis is a God among filmmakers. Hopefully he does get the nod for it.

Starting off with Dave freaking Bautista crying in front of a mirror, finished with him RUINING some people's shit. WOW.

I love the warmth in his voice, when he talks to the little girl. You can just hear the love. You can tell Dave spent time thinking about how the character would talk to that girl, and what it said about him (the character). Awesome job.

I felt incredible how Bautista expressed feeling and sadness in this scene. An excellent actor, no doubt.

Primo no it's not Gosling. The guy at the end was friends with the 3 guys. When he picked up Bautistas papers from his bag he found his address and was giving it to LAPD to go after him as a 'rogue skinjob'

Excellent film, Blade Runner 2049. It deserves more than what it received. Unfortunately we are seeing a new cult film being born again. A really great film that doesn't make money.

Just watched the movie last night and came back to rewatch this. Bautista is so good as this character. He's only in a small portion of the film, but he left such a big impact. Sapper seems like a tough guy, but one who would really prefer a life of peace. A gentle giant.

Overall I think the movie was quite enjoyable, my one criticism is that Dave Bautista had such a relatively small role. I sure wouldve loved a lot more of sapper Morton. If one day there is a sequel, he could come back as a clone of his replicant self in this film.

You missed 3 books, Blade Runner 2: Edge of Human, Blade Runner 3: Replicant Night, Blade Runner 4: Eye of Talon. All of these including the films are based on the book "Do Androids Dream Electronic Sheep?". Just because you don't like reading doesn't mean they aren't apart of the continuity.

Poly Frank niether Blade Runner 2: Edge of Human, Blade Runner 3: Replicant Night, Blade Runner or 4: Eye of Talon. are considered canon since a dead character comes back being contradictory with 2049 and others present diferent nature. they are part of the expanded universe but not canon to the blade runner (cinematographically) just secuels of "Do Androids Dream Electronic Sheep?."

Of all the Blade Runner shorts , this is my favorite, the best.

I keep coming back to this. Dave has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. He actually has great acting chops when he's given more to do with a character.

that is some crazy good acting. even managed to capture the look that leon had in his eyes during the VK test. Looking forward to this movie.

Truly one of the best wrestlers turned actor. A natural. Doesnt have a big resume of films, but has worked with well accomplished-award winning directors. Yet, can play the 2nd or 3rd lead of a film without stealing the spotlight, but rather capturing the audience with his characters performance.

I would watch a series of Action/Suspense movies starring Dave Bautista, the man has surely learned how to command presence on camera without making him look menacing, or overly aggressive.

Jesus!, bautista is fantastic at acting!!! It's just the fighting scene could've been better with the editing.

I'm so glad to see more Sapper, this short was excellent. I'm really glad to see Bautista getting more work with great directors.

When I saw David Bautista first connected to this movie I thought his role will be similar to Brion James role in the original Blade Runner but this clip looks like it won't. Great scene.

And that kids, is why he mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still that he becomes invisible to the eye

How this didnt make it into the final film I'll never know. Fantastic 5 mins that give a small but valuable back story to his character. Love the film but this would have been the perfect intro in my opinion.

Glad to see Pay Phones made a comeback in the future. I miss those damn things.

I love this short film. It shows the sheer, beautiful humanity of the man/replicant.

Dave Bautista is a great dramatic actor and should be in demand by many more directors. This guy has a lot of potential, and his participation in the short film "blade runner 2048" is brilliant. His 10 minutes on screen in blade runner 2049 are even more brilliant!!!. He must be able to play in many other films.... I hope his talent will one day be recognized for its true worth.

All 3 of these shorts compliment the movie perfectly, loved them all

Blade Runner came out four years before I was born yet I've watched it almost twenty times now. Literally my favorite movie ever. BR spawned my favorite genre, dystopian sci fi noir. 2049 better not disappoint.

😲 Fr!? Dave Bautista is a freaking revelation! A thespian who showed range in acting. He commands the screen no matter how minute his appearance, so strong yet so vulnerable. It's not farfetched, DB is a future Oscar Winner!

No he didn't. It doesn't work well there and it works brilliantly. The movie didn't lack anything as everything that was put there was needed was there for a reason for it's slow paced and cold atmosphere. We don't need shots of the ground of the people's daily life as that's not what the movie is about and Bausitia's character was not at all a needed more than he should have as his character served his role perfectly in film as he needed to be for those few minutes, this shouldn't be difficult to understand. Not every character can be fleshed out throughout film as each one serves a purpose.

Dave Bautista was a great wrestler but I think he was born to be actor as his real career. Amazing !

Man, dave would be fenomenal in a drama movie. Hes such an underrated actor...

Dave is AMAZING as this character! I really hope he gets a ton of offers for new types of roles from this movie.

(slight) Spoiler Warning Too bad we didn't get more of these street-level scenes in the final movie. Lots of overhead flying and barren wastelands

I honestly thought we were gonna see off-world colonies. The abandoned city where deckard was hiding looked like Mars.

I'd totally watch a whole movie of this guy

It's really fantastic seeing Dave Bautista becoming a great actor and being in awesome material. Smart dresser, and moreover, beneath the exterior, he seems like a real genuine and humble man, which adds a tremendous amount of appeal .
