@@BaPii Eh, not really. Right now the point of the game from the dev's perspective is creating the most polished vr experience possible, and I don't see what's wrong with that. Hell, I'd rather they go down that avenue and make some kinda fantasy vr gmod. If enough possibilities open up modding wise I don't see how lack of content would ever really be a problem. I much prefer that over a not well implemented story or some shit.

The VR swimming is a straight drowning simulator if you start lagging. Happened to me and I legit started to panic a bit flailing around trying to grab something to lift me out with

fun fact about breakable objects that you probably already knew: pot shards can be used to stab and they're really good. Breaking barrels allows you to use the top as a shield. the barrel shield only lasts 1 or 2 hits before breaking more but still could save a life

Hey @habie147 love your videos :) I am the VFX artist for B&S. First, allow me to say I was truly humbled by your nice comments of my vfx for U11 in your last video :) U12 was a needed step towards 1.0. It was supposed to be a medium sized update, but it exponentially grew, mostly due to a lot of "under the hood" changes that aren't visible to players. As many small studios, we used to use a lot of asset store 3rd party stuff to make our game, but because of modding and copyright issues with said assets, we decided to remake all that stuff ourselves, so the dungeon generator got remade in house, 3rd party shaders got removed and replaced with our own, etc, you get the idea. This, plus the way Unity likes to bug out on people, resulted on a longer than expected patch time. That being said, while part of the dev team was busy coding all this new stuff, the rest of the team was working on other features like breakables, swimming, mod manager, etc. Art team was busy with new rooms and lots of new stuff, that I wish I could tell you....but if I do the French mafia will come looking for me with 4 day old baguettes to beat me up with. Again, looooove your videos man, and I am truly looking forward to your video of 1.0! Cheers!

@@Mr-soda473 Shortly after it releases on PC. Which should be before the middle of this year. And I say should be because this is the biggest update BAS has ever had, and so it needs a lot of care. It's been 9 months roughly since the last big update (U12, not counting patches) and the whole team is laser focused on polishing the 1.0 release.

The big game mode is coming in the next update for version 1.0. And a lot of work from this update was to improve the dungeons system, so now modders can use it better. Waiting is boring but we are close to having something to do in this game.

To allow dungeon modding they moved from this custom version of DunGen to a unique system of their own. I imagine it was a lot of work to make something moddable, really respect the hard work.

I say this as someone who's been playing VR since 2016; You should wait, the technology support just isn't there yet. There aren't enough good, fully fledged out games yet. I find myself leaving my headset sit for months at a time. After a handfull of triple A titles, there is nothing to play that doesn't become repetitive and boring after a while. With all that said, Bigscreen VR fvcking slaps. I'd buy a quest just to use that app.

Their stated intention is to make a totally complete vr world that you can step into. They want you to think it, then do it. They also are introducing lore to the world. Their aim seems to be to make a story book you can step into

But I have been following their changelogs and new announcements pretty closely and have seen zero indication that they intend to stop at crystal hunt. “As we have always hammered, B&S will not have any kind of narrative storyline for the player, but we are striving to make a rich lore for our world in Crystal Hunt mode, which could be revealed passively to the player in-game.”. You are mistaken, they dont intend for the lore to be “minimal” but rather for it to be subtlety introduced to the player. Not shoved down their throat with a campaign. They have released a huge map showing the geography of the world, hinted at wars between cultural groups. Like I said, they want to create a storybook like world to step into. Not a hack n slash video game.

This game to me is the gift that keeps on giving. I love that they're focusing on polish because it's such a welcome change from the current AAA standard of "Fix it after release". Every release of this has been fully playable (Even though my hardware struggles now, it's still playable)

Just to offer some context, cause I try to pretty much stay in loop for everything regarding Blades and Sorcery. This was initially supposed to be the full release, but at the request of the community, they added a few more things on the way (the breakables and swimming mechanics) aside from the pretty big in game mod manager and the about 30 dungeons rooms. The full release is gonna be huge, as aside from the crystal hunt mode, they will also add skill trees, shop, dungeon loot and the narative + another dungeon. They also expanded the studio a lot, to around 14 or 15 full time employees (as per The Baron during his latest interview with Doanloadable content). The update will come in the last quarter of the year or in the wort case scenario in the first part of the next year. Till then, they improved the already amazing mod tools and the overall polish level to the max, while also creating an amazing game engine (can't wait for their next games/dlcs, especially if they end up making some sort of open world rpg)

Exactly, most of their effort since U11 has been on 1.0 release (with crystal hunt) all the stuff that came in U12 was pretty low priority stuff that was ready ahead of time.

Any news on some new spells? I love all the stuff that they're adding, but how can it be called blade and "sorcery" when it only has like three spells? I'd love to see some frost magic or some necromancy. Something of high quality because most of the cool spell mods are either outdated as heck or very bare bones.

The important part of this update was not the breakable objects nor the swimming but instead the mod manager which adds a ton of content to the game. Edit: Apparently what took so long was actually the dungeon content added. However, my point stands that this update is called the mod manager update

from a post on the steam page a few months ago: "As mentioned in the Road to U12 news, we remade the whole Dungeon technology to improve the dungeon generation and give the possibility to expand the system with new features later. It also allowed us to eliminate 3rd part copyright issues that were preventing modders from being allowed mod Dungeons. By remaking it ourselves, it meant we can just give modders the permission to do what they like since we then own it. The whole undertaking was crazy, but things were looking really good at the end of last year. However, now that we are making builds we are only just discovering lots of things that broke and need fixing and it's the annoying sort of stuff that you don't discover until you spent a full day making a test build. We are slogging through these fixes now." so yeah, you're wrong, it was the new dungeon features that took the longest

But the point I was really trying to make was that the important part of the update was the addition of the mod manager. I’m fact I’m the post you quoted they say that they had to change to dungeons to allow for modding in the mod manager so that was still an important and time consuming step just not directly

After adding the bleed mod, realistic organ damage etc etc I can safely say I've now got bored of killing every NPC, every way possible. I dont know if there's a better way to take out stress after a day of work / listening to the annoying neighbours, but this game never fails to impress, and it really does keep getting better and better! 10/10 from a guy thats owned it a couple of years now!

This game is why I started watching you and I've never looked back. Love the positivity and insight. Keep it up please:)

I think, as many other commenters have pointed out, and as a two-year VR veteran now -- this isn't about delivering a AAA experience right out of the box, but rather, a very incremental process in setting up the ability to pump out future titles using these mechanics. I think that's great for the medium. So much is new in VR that I think experiments are still very much a great thing for the industry/art as a whole. We still don't know what the really vital things are and it will take probably just as long as 2d games or more so to really polish everything and then be able to share those learnings with the wider community. I appreciate the work! Always.

I do believe there are a few dungeon rooms that require swimming to progress.

Good news, Habie. The next update is 1.0, which will finally add Crystal Hunt. From what we know, it's basically going to be a roguelike where you get in, collect treasure, try not to die, die, buy new equipment and upgrade your old equipment, and repeat. That sounds like my kind of game, especially considering it's still Blade & Sorcery.

Just as I was about to reinstall B&S just to try the new update, you come in with a video. That is brilliant timing.

I'm glad they added swimming, it not only improves the look that they left unpolished or changed from the start of the game, but it gives it a new, refreshing experience and also, it brings the game to life... and also, you will be able to use a "VR Treadmill" to test trying to swim.

Hahaha, the simultaneous enjoyment of swimming and breaking and the dryness (no pun) of it all had me chuckling. Good humor is rare to find nowadays.

Like Habie said, I highly believe the swimming breakable objects are leading up to the crystal hunt gamemode, and I think the focus of the update was mainly towards the blade and sorcery nomad modding community and the new mod manager for PCVR Blade and Sorcery.

I've got about 7 months to catch up on since the last time I ate through your content like a ravenous fat man, but I'm certainly on my way to having watched everything you have on offer.

There is new swimming rooms inside the dungeon (which will make up some of the crystal hunt)

Another cool thing about the breakables is the uses you can put the pieces to. Some pieces you can’t pick up, but I have used a sharp shard of a plate (quite effectively might I add) as a blade on a dungeon run.

AFAIK the thing that took them the most time was the fact they had to write their own dungeon generator. Because until now, they've been using a third party one, which, however, would have made modding the dungeons problematic due to some copyright issues.

I gotta disagree with you here. You are giving them hate when they really don't deserve it. Oh no, they made the engine even better and made more potential for future titles. They want the crystal hunt game mode to be PERFECT when it releases, unlike most game devs today. Oh no, they're polishing it. I think thats good, and its making the game as good as it can be.

peak gameplay, enjoying the breaking and the swimming in tandem

This game strives for immersion, being able to swim is immersive. Thus its implemented, also, think of the possibility. Imagine an open world with boats you can sail to the various dungeon caves and castles across the map. The fact they have working oars just makes this closer to possible.
