Broken Edge VR turns people into Anime Characters

Ойындар

Broken Edge is a good VR game, but the graphics are like living in an Anime in VR. And I aint no weeb. The PVP sword fighting gameplay is fantastic, best in VR, but the people who play Broken Edge might as well be 6th century samurai.

    Epic, you can also do poses once a game, these poses can restore your blade back to full, give you a shield so awakened blades don’t kill you, and increase your damage to their blade. Also you can overdrive your awakened blade by doing certain things, like for the duelist where you point your blade at them, you also need to move your blade left right up and down to overdrive it.

    I didn't realize that at first; the basic dojo doesn't cover all the abilities. Did it out of habit (a high guard stance variation) and got the boost in the first pvp match I had lol. Went back to the dojo and did some more learning after that. Such a smart way to incentivize players to have movements that make sense.

    For anyone considering this game, seriously check it out. It's super cool. The main goal is actually to hit the enemy's blade as close to the hilt as possible with as little of your blade as possible like Habie originally thought, awakening is just a side thing that forces you to follow specific patterns in a pretty neat way, so just pointing your sword at the enemy while making wild movements is not the optimal playstyle. Also makes it where each character in the game is like a different hero to play in a normal keyboard game, because they each have specific playstyles and patterns associated with them. Also, when your healthbar is completely gone (meaning your blade can't regenerate) and your blade has gotten really small, it'll have a flame effect on it (slightly visible in some parts of the video, but it's much more obvious in game) that means when you next parry the enemy your blade will fully regenerate. Not your healthbar though, since that only regens between rounds.

    Yeah a couple matches as the Duelist I could lunge in and land an awakened strike without worrying about their blade, but getting better exchanges is more often the winning strategy.

  • @RoosterW

    @RoosterW

    7 ай бұрын

    @@mateuszfelisiak480 that is to be expected, being realistic is not part of the game's goal by any means. after all, a key feature of the game is needing to make flashy motions that you'd see in stuff like anime in order to gain extra damage. however, fighting to avoid the opponent's sword is still a completely valid playstyle to a degree, just very not recommended compared to breaking their blade first since it's of course a lot easier for people to parry in this game than it is in real life, and going for an attack around their blade leaves you extremely open to a massive counter attack unless you play it really well since they don't actually have to block or push away your blade to avoid your attack, they just have to make contact with your blade. but, still a valid playstyle nonetheless if that's the way you swing, just needs some extra skill.

    This game and Rumble (a VR fighting game with Earth-bending) together set a great precedent for making VR Fighting Games work well. Forcing players to use physical stances and motions the way they'd use quarter circles and button combos in a fighting game. Character-specific moves actually work in VR with this formula, and Rumble's physics make for a LOT of variety (see the recent video that one guy made about its Emergent Gameplay) and doesnt let players just waggle a sword, like many other games would. Blade and Sorcery has the options that allow for immersive combat but can be totally broken, while these two games force you to play immersively, and its great. Cant wait to see what other games pop up to expand on these concepts

    The tutorials in this game are essential as they teach you the different class-specific stances to perform your abilities, including a shield, a max power attack that prevents your sword from taking damage, and an instant regrow of your sword. The glowing bit when you are down to nearly nothing means that if you successfully parry with it, your sword will regrow once per round. I personally have not had issues with the brightness of this game, though there is definitely a lot of color pop. Still, this game is only $10 and has gotta be one of, if not the most exciting 1v1 game in VR, especially Quest.

    This was great. Also, I may be biased but it is OK to play Halo infinite, the new forgeable AI is a childhood dream come true, even though my pc can't run infinite I can at least watch other people enjoy it

    Reminds me of Ironlights. It's like this game but the swordfights are in slow motion, and the scenery is actually bearable to the eyes

    I'm making pretty good PSVR2 content on No Man's Sky, now. It's been cracking me up for the last 11 hours it took me to make tomorrow's episode :D You've inspired me to finally make a move on this silly little part-time KZread dream I've carried for 13 years, Habie. One of your earliest KZread fans, and a loyal follower lol. I appreciate you doin' what you do, man.
