BLACKWATER 100. 1989. America's Toughest Race" "The Quads"
Спорт
Here we have the 1989 Blackwater 100. "The Quads" This is the first time anyone has seen this footage. Filmed by John Koterba on a Panasonic VHS Camcorder. If you or anyone that you know was racing that day, they are probably on this video. Especially on the starting line in town. In this video is a short interview with Bob Sloan current leader from Indiana. Enjoy! and share if you know anyone that raced that day. A JJLightning Outdoor Network Production.

More awesome than a iPhone? LoL
What a breath of fresh air. For a half hour, it was a vacation to a more sane world.
The smell of Klotz in the air that day was amazing! I hit a tree at about the 5 mile mark and ripped the right a-arms off my 88 250R and became a spectator. Man, to look back and relive these days is amazing!
as a kid I only got to read about this in dirt wheels.lol

I almost didn't make it. I did in 93 the last year. I was afraid when I got there that it was just too wild and too much fun to keep on happening. If you watch the videos of it you get the vibe from the organizers. It was a whole lot of fun. We're in there somewhere at the 2nd creek crossing lol. The one where the idiots are trying to dam up the creek to make it beaucoup deep.
the river crossing by the bridge was really some to see great time wish they would bring it back

That's what I heard but they'd stopped the year I finally got up there. It was a blast though. I hated it that they wouldn't let them hold it anymore. The beef was the creek. I don't know why they didn't provide some more facilities. People were all over like we were camping and all the rest. I would've hung around a couple days after back then to help clean it up back then even if they'd asked people. Shame.
I'm from the same town as Bob Sloan. Actually grew up in the same neighborhood with his kids.
A sea of awesome machines
I'd give anything to have been 18 and able to race this back in the day. The first quad my dad got that I rode was also a Cosmetic Gray 300 4x4 like in this video. DAMN!!
Those were my days of racing 👍 brings back a lot of memories and there all good.
4:40 #18, the Uber rare Quadsport 250. Made for only two years.
The Mojave, tecate, 230's are sooooo cool! The banshees and 250r's are are bad ass too!
I still have an AXO decal on my toolbox!
I miss my quadzilla. Literally bought the damn thing mowing yards and working on other people's mowers and stuff. Bought it used at around 10 years of age. My mom was terrified after one of our local deputies came in bragging I had rode the thing about 70 miles an hour. Let's just say the parents had a fight lol. Kept it until it couldn't be put back together any more because the things just rattled so damn much and would fall apart on a trail if you didn't use loctite and even then random shit would get loose.

I just got an LT 230 going, it rattles, squeaks, brakes weak, shocks hardly help, but I've been blasting through the forest , good machine for low/ medium speed woods work, a nice change of pace from a MX bike

Well, I spotted a very rare Quadsport 250, he blue/white quad at 1:21-1:26. Only made 1989 and 1990 before discontinued. Made a video of the one I rode on my profile.
250x is a tough ass machine
Bob was the baddest dude to ever lay nuts on a tank

And as quick as most stock 450s
I miss those days, and the 90s mx scene. Smoky yet great smelling 2 strokes all over revving in your face, often a 500cc rattling the earth..,
The amount of quadzillas is insane

They would have been huge. Honda was working on theirs. Injuries plus backroom govt deal killed them.
Now thats how you start a race i love this
badass, trikes and quads are worth sooo much money now.
A series of tires were named after this legendary event.
All those 250r's those were the days no other quad compares
